I just got the confirmation code for a bill I paid by phone. The code was: WAYFUX. A nice little chuckle on Friday afternoon. It's usually like A7B3DM or something that never spells anything. Even if WAYFUX isn't a really word, it's still funny.
This Sunday is the Autumn Equinox, which is the day of the year when night and day are equal before shifting to shorter days than nights. We have a hint of cool in the air and nights are chilly again. It's a good time of year. I started taking my feel good vitamins (D3 and B complex) a month or so ago due to obvious mood problems. Hopefully I'm on top of it because this time of year always sneaks up on me and by October I'm weeping in my coffee, feeling like my life is over. Anyone else super sensitive to the seasons/light levels changing? Here's your seasonal reminder about SADS. They are real, take your vitamins and see your doc if you need something heavier. Happy Friday! Anyone into the seasonal beers? Sam Adams usually has some good ones coming out around now. I love "Autumn"! Spoiler
I don't really dig pumpkin beer or pumpkin-flavored anything all that much. It's just never been a flavor I've enjoyed. Even pumpkin pie is just fine.
I’m not that big on pumpkin stuff, or Oktoberfest stuff. But - the local microbrewery made an Oktoberfest and a Festbier this year, and the festbier is titties.
I'm sensitive to shitty, cold weather. Living in Santa Barbara would be perfect. Except, homes are dumb expensive. Here's a smallish 1350sqft, 3/2 on a smallish lot, no pool etc. Just a paltry $2.1M https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/628-Juanita-Ave-Santa-Barbara-CA-93109/15890339_zpid/
May I interest you in Ventura? Same weather, way cheaper, somehow fewer LA jerks even though it’s closer geographically. Neither place is for those who dislike fog though. Source: grew up there, sister and her fam live there now.
I've actually heard good things about Ventura. Wifey and I plan on swinging through there the next time we head to LA. Fog? Interesting. I thought the further down the coast you go, the less prevalent fog is?
Holy shit. Who can afford that? Why would someone who had that kind of money buy it? So many questions.
Because having a $2M home in SB means you're poor. Rich people buy places like these https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/670-Hot-Springs-Rd-Montecito-CA-93108/15880736_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4400-Via-Abrigada-Santa-Barbara-CA-93110/15904717_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/120-Montecito-Ranch-Ln-Summerland-CA-93067/248137743_zpid/ Yes, that last one is 27,000 sqft
I like a good marzen, but IPAs are my seasonal beer - I enjoy them during the seasons of spring, summer, fall and winter. You ever try those lights which are supposed to help simulate sunlight? I keep wondering if I should get one for my partner, she really feels the drop in daylight hours.
Absolutely, and we have some amazing craft brews made locally. They throw my stomach into complete turmoil the last couple years, but still worth it. I’ve got a 12 pack of Sam Adams Oktoberfest next to a 12 of Yuengling in my beer fridge and will add some more pumpkin type beers as time goes on. It’s been unusually warm here, in the low 80’s, so it’s not quite time for the seasonal yet.
