Focus: Have you had a heart stoppage, been in a coma or been through some other near death experience? Describe what you went through and whether you found God, saw a light, or . . . Did the experience change you in any way? I went to the dentist for a deep cleaning. Now, I have a relatively common condition where the nerve in my lower jaw stops near my back molars. So, Novocain (or whatever they call it now, but it includes epinephrine) has to be injected way back in my mouth to have any effect. Well, the dentist apparently managed to inject the shit directly into a vein. Not good. I felt faint and asked to lie down. In short order my field of view faded to black. I awoke to find an EMT* straddling me and pounding my chest. I went to the hospital, had my heart monitored for 24 hours and was sent home. The EMTs presented me with a printout showing my heart going Bradycardia then flat line for about 15 seconds. Upshot - I'm fine and experienced nothing but the blackout - no angels, light, or anything else, just absolute nothingness. Of course, that's what I expect of death. Maybe you need to be religious to get the full show. * - Lucky for me the fire station was literally across the street from the dentist's office.
