Resolutions are lame, but for the sake of fun, my goal will be to exercise consistently and not in spurts.

    What ya got folks?

    Alt Focus: NYE plans.

The wife and I are going out to a nice dinner and that's about it. We didn't feeling going to a party or doing anything extravagant this year, and neither of us really give a shit about NYE anyway.

Focus: 2016 was a shitty year to begin with, so I'm just happy to see it end. As for resolutions, I dont really have any other than continue my efforts at losing more weight. I also plan to read more, waste less time online. And say "fuck" less, although that one usually falls to pieces an hour after I return to work.

Alt focus: We havent had plans for NYE since the beginning of the millenium when we waited for the lights to go out. If anything we'll have some snacks with the kids, watch a movie, and go to bed before the ball drops. And lament I only have two more days left of vacation.

My 2017 goals are to produce at least four billable hours a day at work and to be consistent enough on my exercise and diet to lose 30 pounds.

Focus I work out and kept a decently balanced diet since this past February, dropped about 25 lbs. I made a resolution to add more protien to my diet to the standard 1.5 grams per pound of body weight to gain muscle for a the next 3 months or so to see how different my results are. Ive been averaging .7-.8 and it is hard to fucking cram your mouth with enough protein day in day out.

I also actually scheduled an appointment with a specialist to deal with my anxiety and insomnia issues. Hopefully after that next week Ill have a better idea of what type of goals I'll want to set for myself in terms of treatment and such.

alt focus: No solid plans yet. Be nice to get buck wild at a non standard location. We shall see.

    We are going hiking.

Beyond that 2016 can gargle some nasty ballsack.

    For 2017 I want:

My own chair in a salon
    To lose 20 lbs
    To get eyelash certified
To sell our house in Maryland

I think my biggest resolution for 2017 is to have better time management. I have 4 writing projects, about 20 books to read, a bunch of ideas for art projects, a couple political volunteering commitments, and the usual freelancing hustle battling for my free time (along with a social life, and needing time just to relax). I work part-time, so I should have plenty of time to get to these things. And yet, 90% of my days it's like I blink and it's 2am and I can't think of a single thing I did that day because I just got lost in the internet or watching TV. It got even worse the last few months of the year because I got so consumed by the news. When I finally started doing things for me again a few weeks ago it felt amazing. So that's the biggest change I want to make about myself.

My biggest goal for 2017 is to get a full-time job. It's been tough because I love my job and don't want to get a new one, so I'm not as good about job-hunting than I am when I'm desperate because I hate my job. Once the holidays have passed I need to be a bit more rigorous about it because I have zero money.

One of my resolutions for 2016 was to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt, and I'm not fully there yet, so I'm carrying that one over to 2017 too. It's one of the last things I'm wasting emotional energy on.

As for NYE, I have an outfit but no plans yet. I'm one of the few people that actually really likes NYE, and since no one else does it's always a last-minute thing. I don't want to do anything too crazy. There are a couple bars in my area that I'd like to gather some friends in that shouldn't be too overwhelming because we're deep enough in Brooklyn that it should only be neighborhood folk. I'm also considering going to a gay bar because gay holidays are the best holidays, but most of the good ones are too close to Times Square for my liking.

NYE Plans: Keep my dog from freaking out about fireworks, get enough sleep for two NY traditions: (1) A dip in the Atlantic with the wife (2) Volunteer at the dog shelter. Hoping I get to walk a dog or two instead of poop duty but in either case, its a good way to start of the year and my wife likes it

Goals: Refurb and rent out my apartment, find another one to buy and refurb. Get my office set up the way I'd like. Build a MAME machine for my office. Continue restoring my '82 LandCruiser. Improve my flexibility so I can do the splits by this time next year. Build a site for the dog rescue from scratch. Build them a mobile app so that they can manage their volunteer rota better. Surf. Maintain my weight and drop another 10 lbs of fat, replace that with muscle. Get an indoor grow set up so my veg can get a good start before hardening them for Spring. Make pasta from scratch until I'm a master. Figure out where on these islands I can get proper wood so I can learn to smoke meat KC style. Roadtrip the US in October. Take my wife here for her birthday: http://kasbahtoubkal.com/

I don't believe in resolutions, but I am looking forward to moving into our house. It's a good opportunity to go through our shit and declutter. Feels like a fresh start. I'm also looking forward to getting back into a workout schedule...my main yoga teacher is leaving the studio I've gone to for the last 7 years. So I'm gonna have a new studio. Kinda fun. Ready for some changes.

We're spending NYE at a friend's house. I'm making blondies and putting the antibiotics on hold for the day so that I can drink without feeling like shit.

NYE Plans: Make it the last 350 kms home in one piece. Then build some ramps so I can get the trailer up the driveway incline. Then park it. Then get very, very drunk.

Grilled ribeye and bubbly at home. I have never gone out on NYE, amateur hour bullshit isn't fun to deal with.

How do you know it's not fun if you've never done it?

I actually like going out on New Years because it's one of the only days when it's acceptable to drink until you blackout and puke in the street. You can piss your pants and no one cares. I also really like St. Patrick's day and Halloween.

Anyway, my wife has to work tonight,so it's me, my dog and my two month old son watching sports while sober. Yay us.

Its not, you usually get a lot of people who aren't used to getting wasted getting trashed and making a hell of a scene. Add in the bars are crowded, prices get bumped up and the roads are sketchy.

My new year's resolutions are to keep doing the same as I did last year. In 2016 I managed to stay sober, quit smoking, finally find an area of my job that I really excel at and love doing (and recently got quite a nice raise for doing so), started working out consistently and just found out my wife is pregnant. If I can just hold serve in 2017, I'll be just fine.

NYE plans are to stay home, light a big ass bonfire as Canada comes to visit texas, and shoot off enough fireworks to scare off every animal in a 5 mile radius.

Exactly why we opted for a nice steakhouse instead of a party. Our dinner res is at 10 and I'm looking forward to it. My buddy from college owns a wedding venue and throws a big NYE party, but our group of friends that go has dwindled dramatically over the last few years. Neither the wife and I felt like doing much. It will be nice to do so, since it's our last one together before we have kids.

House parties are fun when you're trying to get laid by someone new. If you're in a relationship its just a bunch of shitty small talk that goes no where.

For a long time we had folks over our house on New Year's Eve. It was fun, but everyone bailed by 9 or 10, mostly because everyone has kids.

For the last 4 years, and tonight as well, we go about 1/8 of a mile up the road to a neighborhood party. Good people, good food, gambling and we all drink enough to make our livers vibrate.

Tomorrow morning I've been talked into hiking followed by brunch. I'm sure I can walk 5 miles hungover, especially with mimosas and bloody Mary's waiting at the end of it.

As far as resolutions, I don't make them, but since most aspects of my life could use some improvement, I'll continue to try to address things like losing weight, getting more excecise and drinking less. Hell I'll settle for one out of 3.

I was in bed before 11pm and slept through until 4am when I got up to take a piss. Yay getting old!

I've always despised New Years and the Police presence in my City has increased dramatically over the last 3 or 4 years over the post-Christmas week, so going out and drinking really is not worth it - you'd be likely to get a public intoxication ticket. They're trying to clamp down on drunk driving but I don't think they would be too picky about arresting a drunk walking or driving.
