Did the chinese mandate awful haircuts for all their athletes at the olympics? Watching the 3x3 women’s basketball my mom asked why the germans women were playing a mens team.
The mixed 4x400 relay is a relatively new event, so any records haven't been around long. If you've been waiting to watch in the evenings, this is a spoiler video for a preliminary heat earlier today, and spoiler comments:
@Kubla Kahn oooh girl, me too. Man, today's been a day. Friday mornings we have a standing activity that I attend with my kid, but this was in my tire: Pop quiz! When you have a hole in your tire that is too big to patch, and drive an AWD, how many tires do you get to replace? Answer: Spoiler 4! Happy Friday! It's 108F today so I will probably be inside a lot.
I still have in my garage, three great tires that fit our AWD element. They had 75% tread left when one got damaged and I wasn't going to let the tire shop keep them and make money selling my used tires. I also bought the tire insurance for the new ones because the guy specifically said that if one had to be replaced because of damage, they would replace all four. I haven't had to opportunity to test that out.
Yeah, they were at 7/11mm (I think it's mm right). We got them in 2021. Hubs forgot to ask for the 3 OK ones back so I called later. I'm going to pick them up when they open on Monday. I will probably try to sell them just to defray the cost on this fucking bullshit.
I put these tires on marketplace, I don't think I even got any messages about them. I didn't keep up with renewing the ad or otherwise try very hard to sell them. I need to get back on that. Hopefully your's sell quickly.
I've had good luck selling and getting rid of just about everything on marketplace. And if it doesn't sell, I'll call that other guy who picks up junk and scrap. No loss.
@bewildered Did the tire store tell you that or is that what the owners manual says? Not all AWD cars need all four tires at the same time.
I have been casually looking around for an older cheaper used truck and am thinking no more AWDs for us.
There will be certain tolerances involved. This is a blanket statement for when you've worn down the tires for 4 years, and then blow one and want to just put a single new one on to replace it. Or put 4 different tire manufacturers/types on all 4 wheels, because they could wear out at different rates causing that diameter difference to grow over time. In reality, if you just put tires on 3 months ago and then blew one out bad, you could absolutely replace just the one tire. It's not black and white, but manufacturers will err on the side of caution (replace all of them), and tire sellers will push for all 4 to increase sales and reduce liability..
@Nettdata that's decent info to consider. There were plenty of miles driven on the 2021 tire set though. I'm not car savvy enough to chance it, and it seemed reasonable to replace based on recommendations.
I’ve been driving Toyotas for 17 years (2 RAV4s) and have never ever replaced all 4 tires at once, and it’s never been recommended to me by the dealer. Except in certain circumstances, like those outlined by Nettdaddy, this recommendation is a blatant money grab. For completely unrelated reasons, I would never recommend a RAV4 to anyone. Both have had horrendous suspensions. I thought the first one was an outlier given Toyota’s reputation, but the second one has been almost as bad, with the added bonus of the transmission shitting the bed just after the warranty expired.
They were both 4WD. That google search result says replacing all 4 is recommended for all cars/toyotas. From what I understand, unless there is a dramatic difference in tread wear, or you are mixing tire brands or types, replacing all 4 isn’t necessary. Like Nett stated.
