The 4th falls flat in the middle of next week. Anyone cooking out this weekend, or taking an extra long weekend holiday? I haven't quite figured out what I'm cooking yet, but that Sally's Baking Addiction monthly email might be my starting point. I want to make everything on her list this month. (I think this is the same pic I used in last years thread, but[t] I'm not sorry, I won't apologize, and you can just take your medicine and shuttup.) Spoiler I hope everyone has a safe day. Don't do anything too dumb.... We have had multiple fire weather warnings and there's a huge tent by the Walmart selling a lot of sparkly kabloomy things. Do it over the river, I guess. Happy Friday!
Taking an extra long weekend at the lake. A few siblings have birthdays and I am turning 35 later this week, so I’m watching them party like it’s 1999 while I wake up feeling fine. Last time I was up here over the 4th I jumped in the water trying to help my nieces and broke my leg. I have been instructed not to do that again under any circumstances, but in exchange I have told everyone that if someone needs help I’m pushing their asses in the water.
600 reads a day is a joke, and even the 6000 a day for verified users is super low for people who literally pay for access.
Dude it’s basically people yelling from a street corner. If 600 posts a day limit is actually negatively affecting you, I’d say walk away entirely.
But every thing you scroll past is a separate tweet. if you click on a trend (especially a breaking news story) and just fling your scroll wheel once, that's like 20 tweets.
It’s going to be interesting in that in this short time most of my internet interaction is going to be changing. I’ve now deleted Apollo and will only be browsing the occasional Reddit sub from my desktop, not from my phone when I’m bored. Google News is also changing due to bill C-18. That will be interesting as it will not mean I’m going to a local dedicated news site, I’m wanting a customizable news aggregator. Thankfully I never really got hooked on Twitter. My normal will be changing and I don’t know what that will look like yet.
Same for threaded posts. Every time you reread the same tweets in the thread to get to the new ones, they also count.
It’s insane. Regardless of whether this truly affects someone’s life or not, it literally chokes the life out of Twitter instantly. And only marginally helps the blue checks who are generally the worst people on earth.
Just me and the cat here for the long weekend. My wife went on a girls trip to Gulf Shores this weekend. She's the oldest of the group of 5 and sounds like she is straight-up not having a good time. She isn't built to drink out in the sun and heat at the beach all day then hitting bars and sitting outside while drinking more. (For the record, neither am I) Meanwhile: cigars, drinks, and some music on the deck for me. Back to work on Wednesday.
