Ok, for this week's 'VI's Lost Hits' we're going back to that halcyon year, 1992. The Black Crowes, in a stunning repudiation of the dreaded 'Sophomore Slump' release 'Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. This week's hit? Great song, but this week you get a two for one post deal. This album is very underrated, currently listed as 477 on the 500 Greatest albums of all time list. This album was probably the best album released in the 90's. Every track is fantastic, but this track? This track (that I'm posting next) does it all. It's got glistening slide, raunchy solos, pretty moments, balls, sex, and everything in between. If you can do it in a rock song, it's been done in this one: Unlike a lot of bands, the Crowes killed it with their second album. Yes, the first is a great album, but this one is better in every respect. If you don't have it, and like rock, get it now. You're welcome.
I don't know why that reminded me of these guys, but it did. When they first came out, radio stations were saying "Here's some newly released Led Zepplin from masters" years after Zep had broken up. And then saying "Ha-ha...this is actually a new band." As someone that never really got into Led Zepplin, I didn't care either way. These guys hit it big as a tribute band doing "Originals." Weird.
I really hope that at a church camp sometime there is a girl in a wheelchair who tells a boy she can't sin with him and he asks, "Are you at least handy-capable?"
What's the standard depth of a residential window and a box bush? Take that and add it to your standard restraining order and there's your answer.
Full disclosure: I'm currently trying to finish knitting a shawl and watching Criminal Minds on Netflix. I'm 29 going on 80.
Since I don't quilt, I guess I'll stick to the wine. I'm also 98% sure I'm going to run out of yarn before this damn thing is finished.
