I'll take a good minty mojito on a warm day or when I'm by the pool in Vegas. However in winter I'll take a nice stout by the fire.

I do think there are summer drinks and winter drinks, it all has to do with the mood and the temp. You won't catching me drinking a Scottish Stout poolside and you won't catch me drinking mojito by the fire in January.

When I used to drink gin I associated it with things like bridge overpasses, street corners, and trash can fires rather than warm summer nights.

I don't know anything about drinking gin, but after my first shift as a waitress I can now tell you that our well gin is Barton's.

PS I smell like fried food. This may or may not be a turn on.

You don't really know what drunk is until you've been on a serious gin bender.

I dunno Noland. I was on a moonshine bender a couple weekends ago and that was a lot of fun. What sort of advantage does gin have over my wonderful, tasty, apple pie flavored moonshine?

One tastes like apple pie with hints of tobacco juice and gunpowder, the other is like spruce trees, mystery bruises, and sadness (well, at least for Noland).

I could never get into the flavor. I got, what was it...sapphire gin? Blue in a square bottle? It just wasn't up my alley. I prefer whiskeys in general and a bit of rum in mixed drinks. I do get sick of rum pretty fast though and have to be in the right mood.

If you're gonna go to gin, dont transition to that Beefeater swill. Hendricks if you're fancy, Tanqueray if you're trying to be semi-reasonable with cost.

Tanqueray is what I get if I feel like spending a bit more, otherwise I keep Seagram's with lime on hand.

Karkov London Dry Gin and Admiral Nelson's Spiced Rum were the first bottles of hard liquor I purchased. I'm slowly moving on up.

Gilbys tastes like homlessness and failure. With a side order of shame. A nice glass of Hendricks and tonic with a slice of cucumber is perfection. Bad gin tastes shitty. And like pine trees. Good gin is worth the money.

I did have a gin martini with Hendrick's and cucumber at an upscale hotel bar last year and it was excellent. I'll have to pick up a bottle of that next.

The martini with Karkov vodka last week was, on the other hand, fucking terrible.

There once was a man named McSweeney
Who spilled some gin on his weenie
    Just to be couth
    He added vermouth
And slipped his girl a martini

I'm just not a big "dry" fan with spirits. The mere mention of the word "Sambuca" sends cardiac reverberations up my spine. That stuff is children's nightmares poured over black licorice. No thanks. No thanks.

When I was just shy of my 22nd birthday, I thought Id order a dirty martini because all the cool kids were doing it.

Keep in mind I hate olives and wasnt familiar with martinis at all.

    Worst $7 I ever spent

Oh, DUDE. Of the billions of variations of the drink you picked the Liquid Anus.

    Pass. I can't stand olives.

Does anybody in here also own a cat that loses its shit over olives?

Sambuca and strong black coffee is the tits, then again I drink that and Jager over ice with a wedge of lime.

Jager and Coke is also not a bad combination.

Tanqueray No. 10 is quite good. Haven't tried their Rangpur gin yet, but I generally like anything with lime.
