He just straddles between two douche genres, college alt rock and jam band. They are insanely talented and kill it live, I just don't dig the extended jamming. It's why I could never get into Phish, or wanted to get into them.
I’ve been about 15-16 times I think. I go when he comes around on his summer tours. He starts off here in Houston usually. But I’m one of the fans that goes to hear songs from before the year 2000. Of which he plays very little these days. It’s still a damn good show. Count me as one of the ones who hates when he drags a song on for 15-20 minutes though. That shit is tedious when he could be playing another song I’d rather hear.
I just think Phish sort of sucks. I never considered DMB as a jam band because they have rhythm and I’m not tempted to throw empties at them.
Yeah, DMB gets the hate because of the fans. When I was in high school and college I hated them largely for that reason. But now I think that they're just an okay band with a few good songs...nothing more, nothing less. But I will admit that I haven't seem them live. I don't really like Radiohead but they are probably the best live act I've seen, so I wouldn't mind giving a DMB show a chance.
Like them or hate them, you go see U2 in concert and you will get your senses pleasured. If you could turn “The Fifth Element” into a concert it would be U2. I saw them on the Popmart tour with Rage Against the Machine as the opener. It was the second coming of Christ.
I saw him once and that was enough for me. And I was a fan. His acoustic stuff with Tim is great, and I think he's a great songwriter with great records. But live.. I got sick of the extended jams, crazy loud drums, and the fact that every song was unrecognizable. Maybe it's me; I was expecting "Live in Central Park" DMB and got "We're gonna play shit you haven't heard" DMB.
I haven’t seen him in a long time. I’m not a fan when artists play songs people don’t know or care for. That’s why I would never go see Bob Dylan again. He sucks live in every way. My friend bought tickets, I warned him it’s going to be the worst concert he’d ever see. The next day he told me I was right: Dylan played not one familiar song, no audience interaction whatsoever, played for 45 minutes of crappy music nobody could hear and walked off stage. Horseshit.
Cards against humanity is at it again. They bought a plot of land along the Mexico/US border and hired an attorney who specializes in imminent domain. Also, they're basically just provoking trump at this point. I give him at most two days to tweet some childish bullshit back at them.
Cards against humanity is just apples to apples for adults right? It seems there only other product is viral jokes?
And damn good viral jokes at that. CAH is awesome, I've bought a ton of the expansion packs and we play it whenever there is a large (preferably drunk) group of people around. Their website also has a place where you can create your own cards for free. They just do one thing, but they do that one thing exceptionally well. And their an awesome company who markets themselves in extremely creative, entertaining, and sometimes socially conscious ways.
They are nothing if not brutally honest. "Give us $5 and we will send you a pile of shit..." "Give us $10 and we will send you nothing."
