I remember what I was doing at the time. That plays into the age thing. I know that I was married to my second husband and it was before his addiction kicked in, so I know about how old I was at the time.
I can't remember exactly when I registered on the TMMB. I know where I was working but I was there so long it's hard to say when it was. I thought I had an idea (2004) but I'm thinking it's even longer (1999-2001) and now I'm curious. Does anyone have an archive link?
I know I joined up in 2002 because it was right when I moved to Columbus for school. I also remember going through a few different early iterations of the TMMB before the larger audience came about. I can't believe it's been 15 years worth some of you idiots. Cheers.
Here's the RedHighHeels thread. I'm not sure how well the old board will work, but this is a start: http://web.archive.org/web/20071207032801/messageboard.tuckermax.com/showthread.php?t=18770 ...don't try to log in. It won't work.
Yeah, it's spotty at best but thank you. I think it was December of 2001 on the TMMB for me. Holy shit. Reading that thread takes me back. Look how mean the mods were. heh
That may be but they were funny and kept the traffic flowing. Tucker wasn't the only draw to that place.
Some mods like boozy and Capt. Capital were hilarious. Most others, like you said, were miserable twats who banned anyone who disagrees with them, even when those people were right. They were the worst thing about the RMMB, easily. Especially when it comes to planes and treadmills.
Possibly the greatest mod meltdown of all time. In a fun and lighthearted debate over whether a plane on a treadmill would take off or not (it would, it's basic mechanics), SillyLittleFreak, an artist with zero background in physics, engineering, or passing high school math, went to the absolute mats over his unshakeable faith that it would not take off. Ranting against Air Force mechanics, working engineers, and current physics majors, who were all telling him he was wrong, he wielded his ban-hammer like a retarded Thor.
And it was glorious. Matter of fact any meltdown there was quite epic. The dramatic feet stomping out the door good bye cruel board exits were some of the best shit.
I will always remember the "discussion" between Bunny and Savage Henry over the "medical crystals". His was one of the most nicely political responses I've ever seen.
One of my favorites was, I think it a Christmastime thread, where Tucker, Bunny and D-rex did the beer taste challenge. Fucking hilarious. Tucker, "This tastes like dirty socks and butthole." Bunny, "I think I'm going to be sick." D-rex, "A nice boquet but my teeth feel hairy now." And it just went on and on and on. With each different nasty beer they tried it got better and better.
That incident alone made him the most scorned mod on the RMMB. The echoes of hatred toward that guy rang LONG into the creation of this board, largely because of that incident. He was wrong, wrong, WRONG. End of story. Best mod? Savage Henry. I can find no fault in that guy at all. Hilarious and intelligent.
