This is like the Tyree helmet catch. This is destiny. The Yankees WILL win this World Series. This team is too much.

edit: I know it's just the ALCS but still...

I fucking hate you Joe Giraradi, I really do. You overwork your bullpen when you don't have too and now that they are rested, you don't use them till Burnett lets two on with no out. God I wish they hired Mattingly.

The Angels might still be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory here.

It's been a great game so far though.

As much as this message has been a little over the top he's correct. First off, I can't remember what game it was in the ALCS but calling a player out for leaving early on the tag? Ump's should let all tag-ups go unless it is blatently obvious.

Secondly, having to make catchers move so they can see balls and strikes better? That is what you are PAID to do, figure it out!! Don't make the player adjust his stance!!!

There was a play in game four of the NLCS when Utley put a tag on a player stealing and he was out. This was late in the game and could have been a game changer.

I agree with Beefy Phil, the calls have just been terrible. It has been a long dispute in MLB that they should adopt the NFL's policy in putting the best crew of umps/ref's in the championship games. The ref's are watched all year and the one's that do the best job and miss the fewest amount of calls and make the strongest calls are the one's you see in the playoff's. In MLB they just follow a standard rotation, they should change it quick.

I hate the Yankees almost as much as I hate Duke. Go Phillies. Game 1 should be a good one tonight, CC vs. Cliff Lee. I think it will be relatively low scoring.

I know this isn't popular with baseball traditionalists (read: morons), but let the computer call balls and strikes and introduce a booth ump that can call in on any play based on video evidence.

Don't you live in New York? I know you can't be a Met fan and say something like this. I think you'd be required to commit seppuku on general principle.

Yankees in 6, assuming they've been practicing how to dodge batteries.

I live in Manhattan but am from Philly - actually going to the Eagles vs Giants game on Sunday in Philly which should be awesome. I hate all New York teams because most of their fans are douchebags.

You and me. Avatar Bet - Yankees vs. Phillies. Winner gets to choose the loser's new avatar for one month.

Or POST YOUR BOOBS or BOOTY. Winner gets to pick which one, or I do.

As far as poopy fans go, I think the two are almost even.

I'll leave the "Manly" area of the board now.

I'm a Yankee-hater, BUT I believe the best thing for baseball might be to have the Yanks win three or four years in a row. Then morons couldn't say that payroll has nothing to do with winning a WS.

The Yankees do have SOME home-grown talent, but this latest overkill of signing the two best FA pitchers AND Teixeira was a little much. The Yanks are getting old, however, and if they don't win this year it may be another several years before they have the chance again.

Go Phillies. All of the naysayers can suck a fatty. The key to this series is can the phillies hit off of CC. Tonight we showed we could. No team has the spirit that the phillies have. We will win the series again and prove that we are the best team this decade.

Best team the last 2 years, but of the decade...seriously? I was rooting for the Phillies but stupid comments like that make me hate you.

Including this year the Phillies made the playoffs a whopping 3 times this decade, all of which have come in the past 3 years. "Teams of the Decade" don't finish 21.5, 15, 10, 12, 30 games out of their division.

There was an article on ESPN claiming that whoever won this series would be the team of the decade, which is just stupid. As annoying as I find drunken Irishmen with irritating accents, I'd probably have to go with Boston being the team of the decade, though there's no real clear winner.

Another bad call by the umpires. Instead of bases loaded with 1 out a short hopped ball is called a double play.

And Utley was safe at first on the DP. Let's just agree that the umps are horrible. That last strike to Howard was laughable.
