In the stories on Kampman I saw they said he was in a contract year. So he'll probably be walking and get a short "show me" deal with a 4-3 team. This would support that. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=Nfl&id=1765
Yeah if I was Kampman I would leave the Bay. Some D coordinators have it in their head that good DE in 4-3 = good OLB in 3-4. Kampman was one of the best defensive ends in the game, great pass rusher and great against the run. He will thrive when he's plugged back into a 4-3 next year. Lucky for GB they picked up Clay Mathews in the draft, and that kid is seriously good.
Sorry to break it to you but, objectively, you are wrong. Like really, really wrong. I couldn't quite understand what that last sentence meant, but I don't think you can call a game that was decided by a missed last second field anything other than good. As for watching the top teams, sure, I'd love to watch Indy-NE every week (who wouldn't), but seeing as we live in the real world, that game was pretty darn good.
"ALL WE'RE TRYING TO DO IS WIN A MOTHERFUCKING GAME!!!" I'm going to guess that we won't see this in any Coors Light commercials.
Exactly. It was a great game, and the Texans are quietly becoming a pretty good team. Most of their losses have been by very narrow margins. They need a better running game, but they have a great air attack (despite Daniels being out) and a good young defense. I'm actually picking them to beat Indy this week, and I'm not the only one. I'd much rather watch a game like Texans/Titans then watch a team like the Saints balls deep raping a team like the Browns.
I will always watch two evenly matched teams over a blowout any day. It's fucking boring to watch a game that ends up 49-7. It's a hell of a lot more interesting to watch a couple teams battle back and forth, and keep you in suspense over who's going to win. I'll also add that those teams were playing better than their records indicate. Say what you want about Houston, but they did a heck of a job keeping Johnson contained. Sure, he still had 150 yards, but compare that to the first game they had against each other, when he had 200 yds rushing, another 100 receiving, and 2 TDs. The Titan's pass offense is bad, but Johnson is kicking some serious ass this year. It's worth watching the Titans games just to see him break some long TD runs. I could even argue that playing an evenly matched opponent can make any team play a better, more exciting game than they're typically capable of. Just look at the Browns/Lions game, who expected it to turn out that way?
McDaniels is quickly becoming my favorite controversial coach. Clark had an interesting response to the "We own you!" comments.
Anyone who has followed the Texans the past couple seasons will not be surprised in the slightest at what happened in the game today. I don't think there's been a game this season where the Texans haven't been night and day different from the 1st half to the 2nd. Something's got to give, and unfortunately, I think I'm now on the bandwagon. Bye, bye Gary.
No matter the score, time or opponent you can't bury the Colts. It's a relief to see that the great 2nd half adjustments didn't leave with Dungy. I'm not ready to say it yet, but I've started thinking that Caldwell might be a better gameday coach that Dungy. It'll be years before I'm ready to consider whether he's better at player development than Dungy though. 11-0, clinch the division with a Jags loss (currently down 17 to the Niners) and could clinch a first round bye next week with a lot of help (Go Saints, Chiefs, Browns and Phins).
Touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes. Did you see that run by Dixon that got called back? I'm fucking excited!
He looked great on that Play Action touchdown. Steelers could have a shot here if they keep up this intelligent play calling; lots of runs and play action passing. Dixon has great mobility to bootleg so I'd expect a few of these as well.
Anybody else watch the halftime show just now? When Tony Dungy was showing that play action touchdown on his little replay toy, I actually got angry. Whatever he was doing to keep rapidly rewinding and showing the same .5 seconds over again, he needs to stop.
I thought he did a great job considering the kid had only thrown one pass in the pros so far. He was well on his way to win the Heisman when he blew his knee out that opening drive a few years back. He can throw, he can run for quick downs and he's not afraid to play. I thought it was shitty they didn't put more confidence in him. He would have played even better. I also loved it when Big Ben was fucking literally jumping up and down on the sideline when he threw the pass to Holmes for the TD. I was doing the same thing in my living room and I cannot stand the Steelers and their stupid ass towels. It was just too bad they killed their chances for a win with stupid stupid penalties at the end. I hope he kept that TD ball though. I was proud of the Quacker. When they flashed to his Sister and Dad I teared up. Hope his Mom saw that from her high up perch. It was great. Now Favre on the other hand......HA! It's a beautiful thing to watch. I'll just leave it at that.
No, I'm quite right. If you are such a huge fan that the Cleveland vs. Detroit barnburner was something that you wanted to watch, knock yourself out. I said those are not good football teams and I'm sticking to that, (although the emergance of Vince Young may make me eat my words) I said I would prefer to watch either my favorite football team or watch the premire teams in the league. The original quote was why noone was watching those two teams play on monday night and it was because they both stink. I'm sure it was an enertaining game but seeing neither will make the playoffs I could have cared less. In other news did anyone hear Hines Ward throwing Rothlisberger under the bus? I never saw that coming.
Looks like your Hurricane Tom drifted back into the gulf. Such a shame. I was going to play "When the Levee Breaks" by Zeppelin in honor of the occasion. I've decided to adopt the Saints as my #2 team to win the Super Bowl this year (unless Denver somehow makes it, of course). There's no QB more deserving of a championship right now than Brees. That he doesn't have a ring while Eli Manning does is nothing short of a travesty.
