Is it me or did the Vikes linebackers look completely lost? I was amazed how many blown zone coverages and tackles they missed. Deer in headlights, which can be tied back to one single thing - lack of preparation.
I think this also says it all. Chilly's Coaching Approval Rating Sorry for the double post, tried to edit too late. After yesterday, I still think that the Saints will come out of the NFC and the Chargers from the AFC.
Really? Cause I remember Collinsworth pointing out multiple times what great pressure the Panthers were getting rushing only three and four people. You call that stacked against the run?
Blitzing and playing the run aren't the same thing. It's a Ron Meeks defense, of course they were only rushing 3 to 4 every play. That doesn't mean the safeties aren't cheating up and the LBs aren't waiting longer to go into shallower coverage drops.
What the fuck are the Redskins doing, trying to kill their kicker? Was the guy throwing it the kicker? That was the some of the strangest playcalling I have ever seen.
You got to like the Titans-Chargers game, it really can go either way. I think the titans pull the upset.
I think the Chargers are on a monster roll right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see them not lose another game, including the superbowl. They're crushing it.
The Chargers are looking scary right now. I was thinking they'd be a case of a team peaking too soon and getting upset early in the playoffs, but man, they aren't slowing down. With my team officially out of the race, I was kind of pulling for the Titans just because 0-6 to the playoffs would have been a hell of a story. I didn't realize what a clusterfuck the AFC playoff race is. Denver's going to keep sliding, but not a single one of those 7-7 teams jumps out at me. I guess I'd put my money on Baltimore and Houston, though neither has exactly been impressive.
Up 15 to 10 midway through the 3rd quarter the Colts pull Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. 1st drive with Painter goes 3 and out, 2nd drive Painter gets blindsided, fumbles, Jets recover for a TD. 3rd drive goes 3 and out. Jets have the ball up 6 in the 4th. The Colts were dead serious about 16-0 not meaning much to them. I'm disappointed, but the narrative of resting leading to 1st round exits takes a really selective reading of the Colts recent history. EDIT: Dwight Freeney, Gary Brackett and Antoine Bethea are pulled from the D.
Quite the way to twist the circumstances of each. Vikings were still playing for something, Colts (other than 16-0) were not. NOTE - I have trust in Caldwell, I DO NOT in Brad Childress, because of first hand experience of him not knowing what the fuck to do.
I didn't catch the caveat that it only applies when in a meaningless game. Obviously Peyton's word isn't scripture but someone had brought up that other elite guys would have done the same thing as Favre. Peyton clearly had a different attitude.
The Bears are absolutely killing me. I'm not even a fan of their team, and I feel like they are going to break my heart... <update> : woot! Vikings fumble! <update 2> : Cutler actually completes another TD pass! The Eagles have hope for a bye week! Wahoo! I love this game.
Does anyone feel dirty after watching that game? I feel like I watched the ESPN announcers suck of Favre and Peterson for 3.5 hours.
Peterson is a phenomenal runner, but he needs to put a lot of work in on his ball security and in the passing game. Last chance on 4th and goal and he's off the field because he's not good enough in the passing game. In OT he fumbles the ball away (7th fumble this year) setting up the Bears game winner. WTF happened to the favorites in the NFC?
I normally really like Gruden and Jaws, but sweet lord it was bad. When they just started falling all over themselves about how much they love watching Favre play and such, I was getting quite annoyed. Best part of the commentating for me was when Peterson tried to tip to the line and stay in bounds and he got hit by Steltz and Adams. Gruden and Jaws both starting screaming about a personal foul on their boy AP, while Tirico calmly highlighted that he was still in bounds and that it was football, let them play. Both got a little salty upon the correction, but the immediately started hyperventilating on the next play about how hard AP runs.
