Shake n bake is correct. Plus, the Jets actually started with worse field position after those two missed field goals than their average. Miss #1: Graham missed a 35 yard field goal. Jets started at their own 25 Miss #2: Graham missed a 28 yard field goal. Jets started at their own 20 Their average starting field position was at the 34 yard line. Sure, those 6 points would have helped. The gameplan probably would have changed a little had the Bengals only been down by 4 (rather than 10). But still, it's unfair to blame the kicker. He's not Scott Norwood, for fuck's sake. The Bengals had the most penalized offense in the NFL this year. If anything, blame the coaches for not instilling more discipline in their players.
Are the players in the Philadelphia/Dallas game aware that they should not be incurring penalties with each play? Because I don't think I've seen them run a play yet without getting the ref involved. Man these two teams hate each other.
What was Shittsburghs reason for not making the playoffs as defending superbowl champs? Talk about melt downs and shitting the bed. This year, unlike 2005, there wasn't a huge meltdown as I think it was pretty apparent weeks ago that we weren't ready to handle the playoffs, more of a sputter than a meltdown. The two biggest factors we lost the game was dropped passes (Coles and Caldwell) and of coarse Shank Graham.
I get that, but it's hard to know what effect it would have as far as momentum, clock, field position, etc. And that Carson Palmer spent the first half looking unable to hit a barn door Kickers seem to have this sort of fleeting confidence quality, where once they lose 'it,' things spiral out of control. Mike Vanderjagt a few years ago comes to mind. He went from one of the greatest kickers ever to out of a job in the blink of an eye. They're sort of like baseball closers that way.
Vanderjagt had missed some big kicks before 2005, but that was the biggest and he wasn't even fucking close. Throw in he was a raging asshole and Adam Vinatieri was hitting the market and he got the boot and was never the same.
The Eagles got bounced, so now I am officially rooting for the Saints (because Drew Brees is a dreamboat) and the Jets (cause I love an underdog). As long as the Cowboys don't win the Superbowl, all will be right and normal in the world. It would also be a bonus if the Eagles trade McNabb to the Rams in five minutes.
My God, I expected the Pats O to look a little off without Welkah but the Ravens bent them over and are just giving it to them. 21-0 Ravens in the first quarter.
Pats OL is getting dominated and without Welkah to dump off to under pressure Tawmy's fucked. The Pats D is sucking big time too.
Fuck. This. Defense. Belicheck better change up something this off-season, the D is too old, too slow and too unorganized.
Raiders 2011 1st rounder for Peppers? They miss Seymour bad, they might not want to wait another full year to get a player on the field from that trade.
When they can't run that bubble screen it changes their entire offense. The defense can shut down Moss and easily put down the running game. It's amazing how much one player can change the dynamic of the team, especially a 5-10 white, little wide receiver! Any more word on him? I had heard he could be done for GOOD.
He trades on quickness so he needs that knee to recover well. He'll get back on the field but it's possible he won't be the same player again.
So pumped for the packers/cards game. I think who wins the battle between Fitzgerald and Woodson could go a long way towards determining which team wins. They're arguably the best in the league at their respective positions so it should be fun to watch. I'm nervous because Warner's money in the playoffs, but I think we're the more balanced team. At least on paper, we look superior. Props to the ravens on an impressive win. They'll need Flacco to play better if they want to make it to the super bowl though.
Gotta say, Kampf I wouldn't be too worried with Boldin out. Double teams all day long. But, maybe not. As a Cardinals fan I hope Wells and Hightower have a huge day and set up Breaston for a couple big plays, but I'm not counting on it.
Baltimore gets 21 points in the first quarter and 3 takeaways. Arizona gets 17 points and 2 takeaways. What do you think? Does GB have enough clout to make this game interesting, or would I be more entertained popping in a game of Madden before the Simpson's special tonight?
We caught a huge break on that fumble so maybe we can make a game of it. Right now I still want to throw up. Edit: Well that hope's gone. The good news is we'll be getting blown out so bad at the half I don't even have to think we can get back in it.
Can't at least 1 of the 4 wild card games be close? This is ridiculous. At least I didn't bet on this game because I liked the Packers in this one.
Another dropped pass? Are you fucking kidding me? The worst thing about this is the officiating has been going our way all game. And then Jennings comes through again. NOW PLAY SOME FUCKING DEFENSE.
