So you're suggesting they don't throw it to the player who is always open? The same guy that just does not drop passes, for the sake of spreading it around? It's kind of hard to NOT target Welker 15-20 times a game. He catches everything, gets every extra yard, and holds onto the football. It's a stupid statement to accuse the Patriots/Brady for giving him the ball/relying on him too much. They should have given Sam Aiken, Chris Baker, and every other skill position player the ball more earlier in the season because they'd be more prepared if Welker went down with a fluke injury? That makes a ton of sense!
Well I'll be damned. Didn't see this coming! It's about fucking time we got some entertainment out of 4 games.
The Cards are lighting it up without Boldin thanks to Breaston and Doucet. The Colts went all season without Marvin Harrison and Anthony Gonzalez thanks to Austin Collie and Pierre Garçon. Depth is important, when you lose a player you don't have depth behind you get bounced from the playoffs fast. Happened the last two years to Indy when they couldn't replace Freeney (in07) and Brackett (in08).
If I'm the Packers I go for 2 if I score. I'd put the chances of winning in OT at 50% given that neither D has had any answers, Coin toss would probably decide it and I think their odds of a 2pt conversion against this Cards D is higher than 50%
No coach would have the stones to deal with the scrutiny of a failed 2 pointer in this situation besides Bellichek. But I can see the logic. Either way the Packers are screwed. Their defense is now faced with playing a short field in the dying seconds. Even with three timeouts remaining if they get the ball back anything short of a spectacular return off the ensuing kickoff from an Arizona score would ultimately seal the deal. EDIT: Missed field goal. Of course.
I've never seen a team play prevent defense for 60 minutes. Or zone defense, whatever the Packers are doing. Might be the worst pass defense I've ever seen. Holy shit Rackers missed the field goal!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA this is what you get for building a Dome in Arizona. The Football Gods frown upon your city of transplants.
I don't have time to look at the rest of the post right now, but I just want to point out that Welker's back up had 6 catches and 2 touchdowns today. Now I'm no expert, but that seems like a sound backup to me.
God damn that was painful to watch. what the fuck. Pats were killed, plain and simple. What a pathetic excuse for a defense. insert 69 posts joke here
It's going to take me awhile to get over that packers loss. I can at least be happy they put up a fight (albeit on only one side of the ball). Aaron Rodgers made two huge mistakes, but we would have never been in that game without him. He'll have plenty of chances to win in the post season. He's only played two years and he's already easily in the top five QBs. It really sucks. All year we had by far the best turnover ratio in the league, as well as the #2 defense for yards allowed. Neither of that showed today. When the packers entered the playoffs I couldn't shake the feeling that we're still a year away from a making a run at the super bowl. This is going to be a great team next season. Oh, and Whisenhunt has a fucking brilliant offensive mind. Our defense could not have been more confused by the schemes he set up. Several times I saw guys wide open because our defense didn't who was supposed to cover him.
That was, hands down, the most epic offensive shootout on a football field I've ever seen. Aaron Rodgers was amazing. Kurt Warner was even better. Kurt Warner is Baby Jesus.
I can't believe I had to listen to it on the damn radio. Worst part is I brought it upon myself. I had no preference for who won the game when it started. By the end of the game I was rooting for the Pack. This game didn't get the pre-game hype it deserved. Such a nice veteran vs young hotshot angle to play up here. By the way, too early to start speculating on whether or not Kurt Warner goes in the HoF? I vote yes.
Agreed. Warner is a lock for the HoF. I also think he's a second year man, maybe a third depending on who else retires the same year. If, however he wins the Super Bowl this year I think he makes the HoF his first time. Edit: http://www.profootballhof.com/history/Eligibility.aspx Here is a lit of players selected for the HoF their first year. I daresay that Warner has had an as good if not better career than a few quarterbacks on thst list. Perhaps he has a shot at first year afterall.
Green Bay and Arizona, you demonstrated why people love to watch football to a tee. I wish that game was fucking eight quarters long. What an entertaining show you gave us all. Ten out of Ten.
