I'm betting on Washington signing him. He fits Daniel Snyder's M.O. signing another player who not only can't play any longer (Shawn Alexander, Deion Sanders), but still comes with a nice pedigree, enough for Snyder to believe that he has a shot at the player regaining his former glory.
Mangini is apparently announcing his starting quarterback on Wednesday. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d814113c7&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true He's a bad coach who probably won't last very long Cleveland, but if he sticks with Anderson at this point he's completely lost his mind. Anderson has a QB rating of 36.2 thus far this season. To put that in perspective if you complete zero of your passes without throwing interception you have a rating of 39.6. Yes, Quinn hasn't looked great either, but it's almost impossible for him to be worse. When you include that last game against the ravens they jump to 14th in total defense and 5th in points allowed. I don't really see how people can say the bengals aren't for real at this point. Their stats are above average for teams around the league any way you slice it. If the numbers aren't good enough to convince people, just take a long at the schedule they've played. The only team they've played with a losing record is Cleveland. After the steelers next week things are going to get much easier for them. I'll be very surprised if they aren't playing January. The real question is who's going to fall apart in the playoffs?
What's most impressive about the Saints' start is they've won in all fashions: a couple 40-point games to open the season, 2 more wins with the running game, come-from-behind wins in recent weeks, their last 4 wins have been against teams who won their division or went to the playoffs last year, and when their offense can't get going, they have a great defense that seems to score just as easily. I remember noting how much their secondary would be improved when they signed Sharper, but goddamn I didn't think he'd be this good. It's good to see that they're no longer the NFL equivalent of the D'Antoni-era Phoenix Suns, hoping their offense is just good enough to make up for lack of defense. 8-0 is impressive no matter how you slice it, but New Orleans is making it look even better. They're going to be some dangerous motherfuckers in January, especially when they're in the Superdome.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d ... nfirm=true The pro bowl to be played in Miami a week BEFORE the superbowl. This will not help the ratings in my opinion because it makes the game LESS interesting. Now you will not have the players on the field who should be there because of the superbowl, meaning Drew Brees will not start for the NFC if things keep going the way they are. Also players are griping about it being located in Miami, I suppose I would too when you compare it to Hawaii.
I dont know about that. Ive been reading here in Miami that lots of players skip the Pro Bowl because they dont want to spend 10-12 hours on a plane to get to Hawaii so long after the season ends. The Pro Bowl is and always will be the worst All-Star game in sports. They should just do a skills competition and call it a day.
No one watches the damn Pro Bowl the way it was. As the guy above said, worst All-Star game in sports. I feel bad for the players that they're only going to hooker town, instead of the land of bliss and relaxation, but really? No one gives a shit about the pro bowl. I might actually watch it this year, seeing as how it's between the end of the playoffs, and when my Vikings will be playing the Steelers (unfortunately) in the Super Bowl. I may need some football action between the NFC/AFC championships and the SB. I think this might be a good idea. Once the Superbowl is done, noone gives a flying fuck about Football anymore.
I missed most of the game tonight, but caught the 4th quarter at a bar. Wow, Cutler played awful. 5 picks? The defense gift wrapped that game for him and he single handedly lost it. The bears are all but out of the playoffs now.
Dear Chicago, You're welcome. Sincerely, Denver Seriously, though. As a Broncos fan, I'd take Cutler back in a heartbeat, the Bears really need to build a team around him. Man, he's having a rough go in C-Town.
You'd give back Robert Ayers, Knowshon Moreno, and Kyle Orton for Favre 2.0? I liked Cutler and all, but good things don't happen when the QB puts himself before the team. I'd say the return they got for him worked out for the best in Denver.
I'm not unhappy with Orton, I just have this gut feeling that when Cutler gets his head together and his team gives him viable weapons (see: recievers), he can become a premier QB noone will want to face. I guess both Denver & Chicago will see who really benefited from the trade come draft time & who does what with free-agency, etc.
Moreno's name shouldn't be there. I was thinking of next year's Bears pick. My bad. With protection and receivers, Cutler can be very, very good. But unless he's willing to set his ego aside, he'll always be a 20 interceptions/year QB. He tries to force too many plays, and thinks he can win entire games with his arm. Maybe I'm just biased because I've always been an Orton fan, even when he was in Chicago. I felt like he got a bad rap playing there because of the same problems Cutler currently has (poor receivers), and the coaches/front office insisted on starting Grossman. Here's a good article written on MHR this week on Orton. It's worth a read.
I feel like Orton is one of those quarterbacks where he won't singlehandedly win you a lot of games, but he's not going to blow a lot of them either. And in the long run, he'll wind up winning you more games than he loses. Cutler on the other hand is a "make it or break it" type, and well, he's not making it right now. Woody Paige had an article this week where he suggested the Broncos start Chris Simms. It was actually more well-thought than I was expecting, but I still think Orton should be #1 in Denver. They've been winning with him under center. No sense in rocking the boat when you're a playoff front-runner halfway through the season. Plus he has Washington this week which is a great tune-up game for almost anyone. This Sunday is one of those rare weeks where I'm interested in at least one game for all three time slots: Bengals at Steelers for control of the AFC North, Eagles at Chargers and then of course Patriots at Colts.
Seriously Dallas? Seriously?! It's the 3-4! You know the 3-4!! What the fuck? Awesome...another sack. Worst. Pass protection. Ever.
Haven't you seen the pass protection of the team you're playing? We're looking to break records in terms of sacks given up.
Don't you know we're awesome at blowing supposed 'easy' games? WTF! YOU'RE ON THE ONE AND YOU PASS!?!? WHY???
How Marion Barber doesn't go punch someone in the face for not giving him the ball there is unreal. But for being a Packer fan in Texas, I'll take this one any day.
Seriously, you have three running backs to choose from and you pass? I swear one day I'm going to drop dead watching a Cowboys game. At least it won't be a shutout.
