From the article Parker posted: Gee, ya think?!?! Honestly I hope Khan punched someone in the face when those terms were offered to him. Or - God forbid - if those are the terms he proposed then he needs to resign immediately. Minnesota has made a lot of awful trades in the past decade or so but this about takes the cake. Brewer isn't exactly lighting the world on fire but a first round pick is especially valuable considering their record. And they'd be getting New York's trash in return? I know it's just a trade rumor but just reading about it made me angry.
To be fair, Anthony Randolph is a very intriguing young player, not trash, but I agree...the trade is definitely lopsided as stated in the article.
Do you know what the deal with him is this year? I don't follow the Knicks at all so all I was able to see is that he's getting practically no minutes. Is he injured?
He was injured before the start of the season, but I think the bigger problem is Randolph's lack of any knowledge of offense and generally awful basketball IQ. D'Antoni would just rather keep him on the bench. His physical tools are amazing, but sadly, he might be one of those guys literally too dumb to play professional basketball.
Man this must suck for those Utah Jazz fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6109031 Jerry Sloan is resigning, citing he had issues with Derron Williams. This makes me think of the beat writer I was in class with that told me a few months ago that said "Derron Williams is weird, something is off about him." I cannot wait until details come out about this, but Sloan probably won't talk. We'll see. It's fucking shitty to see a 23 year old reign end, with only 1 losing season.
Holy shit. Wow. I'm speechless. At first, I was thinking this was another dumb post by Parker about some crazy rumor (I mean, he spelled "Deron" with two r's), but nope, the information is legitimate. Unreal. One other important wrinkle to the story is that Sloan's top assistant, former Coach of the Year Phil Johnson, is also resigning, meaning that the inexperienced Ty Corbin becomes Utah's interim head coach. I'll wait until getting all the facts to see what this has to do with Deron Williams, though.
Even weirder: the owner insists that Corbin will become head coach. Not interim head coach. Head coach. Other than them not getting along, I also heard that it might increase the chance of resigning Williams. Plus, Sloan had to be leaving soon anyway. The dude is getting up there in years.
Take it from someone who follows Utah; this will not increase the chances of re-signing Williams one iota. I don't know the specifics of the decision, (I'm reading through hundreds upon hundreds of sorrowful comments on SLCDunk about the press conference right now) but it was probably Sloan's choice, and if it was partially motivated by Kevin O'Connor (highly unlikely) or Greg Miller (possible), it was for a more immediate reason than that. He had signed another one year extension just a few days ago, and there was the feeling that he would be around for a long, long time to come. With the exception of Poppovich, I can't imagine a current NBA coach resigning that would be more shocking than this. Wow. Still speechless.
Interesting interview with Deron Williams about the Sloan resignation; http://www.slcdunk.com/2011/2/10/198732 ... ?ref=yahoo http://1320kfan.com/index.php/audio/lis ... ams_feb_10 Also, the press conference footage on NBA.com and Youtube is worth checking out;
Some people make spelling errors in shock. God fucking forbid. I knew the guy had a year or two left, NEVER fucking thought he was going to leave mid year. Lakers played a solid game against the Celtics at Boston and won. My dreams of a Bulls v. Lakers finals are getting closer and closer. Now they need to beat San Antonio and Miami.
Except you wrote it that way twice, in a post with zero other spelling errors. Look, it's fine not to instantly know a player's name off the top of your head. Especially when he's not on a team you follow. There's also nothing wrong with being a casual fan who isn't up on every team. But just admit as much, instead of becoming passive-aggressive ("God fucking forbid"), and trying to make up a comical excuse every time. Focus- I've gathered my thoughts on the matter a little bit, and I really think there's some precedence to Sloan almost quitting in mid-season in 2002-2003, in part because Mark Jackson was such a goddamn prick. (Who undermined John Stockton and Karl Malone) In this case, I doubt it was as big of a problem with Deron, but Sloan is also older, and as he noted in the press conference, doesn't quite have the same energy he once did. As he has said for years, if he wakes up one day and doesn't feel like coaching, that will be it. As Kevin O'Connor rightly noted, however, God knows what Jerry and Phil Johnson will do during the regular season.
Forget the timing; I'm upset that Sloan went out without a single title to his name. He's always been one of my favorite coaches.
Well after losing 36 points of offense, San Antonio coming alive, Dallas looking more balanced and L.A. being L.A. he sure as hell wasn't getting one this year. Then as it has been talked about, Deron Williams being a dick and possibly tossing his free agency around, it was probably too much.
Ric Bucher is a motherfucking prick and hack. Once again, he posts sensationalist garbage, especially about the Jazz, without either getting the facts or even following the team. At this point, one thing seems crystal-clear; Deron Williams did NOT ask for Sloan to be fired, or for management to decide between him and Jerry. Now, the stress of dealing with a mercurial point guard this season might have finally worn out the 68 year-old legend, (hence his note during the press conference about having less energy) but as Deron noted, if he ever felt things with Sloan had gotten too bad, he would have asked out of Utah, not for the coach to be fired. And if you think about it, how many 68 year olds have we had that have coached in this league? Being an NBA head coach is one of the most tiring and demanding jobs out there; flying into a new city every night or two, screaming and paying attention to minute details of the game for hours upon hours. Constantly traveling or preparing the team. But fuck the details; Bucher has an attention-grabbing shit-cake to write.
I could use a quadruple amputee to count the times I've taken Rich Bucher seriously. I wouldn't pay attention to it.
If we're to be correcting spelling, it's Popovich ... with one "p" in the middle. And then there's this site did the Cavs win last night?. Pure awesome.
As a nice contrast, here's an excellent article about the situation by Tim Buckley, who covered the Jazz on a daily basis for 12 years as a beat writer; http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... jazz021111 I was going to write an article myself on the matter, but damn, the guy encapsulated everything I would have written and then some. By the way, Deron strikes me as very honest and self-aware with his comments. He's undoubtedly a very difficult personality to deal with, but also someone that gives his heart and soul to the team every single night, and has improved as much as any player in the league since first being drafted. Yep, my bad on that one! It's a Russian last name, so I wrote in the standard way, which is wrong in this case.
It's because Riggins reverse-jinxed them by posting that site! Tomorrow, they will have to change it to a YES. The Jazz are playing exceptionally in the early going against the Suns, but here is what many of the talking heads will miss. They have a different starting line-up tonight; CJ Miles replacing Raja Bell. The unit of Williams-Miles-Kirilenko-Millsap-Jefferson is one of the 6 or 7 best 5-man units in the league, by the plus minus stat, whereas the one with Bell replacing Miles is worse than average.
HOLY SHIT! DCHAVOK WAS RIGHT! J.J. HICKSON IS AN ALL-STAR! HOLY SHIT! WHERE IS HE? WHERE IS HE? WE NEED TO CROWN HIM! Ahem... I didn't see the game. The highlights are pretty awesome of JJ jumping up and blocking the shit out of Griffin here and there. So...over/under on another 10 winless streak? Also, we need a Knick fan posting in here. It must be fucking frustrating right now. Your historic, wonderful stadium is most known for other players coming in their and ravaging you on the court. You also cannot pull of a trade for a top player that wants to go there because you want to hold on to your middling talent. It was funny that Landry Fields was guarding Kobe Bryant...while wearing Kobe Bryant brand shoes. Yep, that was a defensive match-up that wasn't going to work. Then Gallinari started guarding Kobe and Kobe started trash talking him in Italian. In more important news, the Bulls need to get their fucking road game in order. 12-12 on the road is unacceptable. Omer Asik might be a sleeper big man. He shows some flourishes that make people think. I hope we keep him. He's like a Turkish Luc Longley. *This post was spell-checked by a University of Phoenix English Minor.
