Fun. People bitch because there isn't any defense being played, but I think it's enjoyable, anyways. Well the Rookies finally won this year, which hasn't happened in forever. I think even the LeBron/Wade/Melo/Bosh rookie class lost.
Actually, the Rookies won last year. Which did break a 7 year win streak by the sophomores, but one year ago is pretty far off from forever.
Yeah, I noticed that after the fact. Missed last year's game. If I bet on the NBA, I would put a lot of money down on DeRozan to win; http://sports.bodog.com/sports-betting/ ... -props.jsp Blake is a ridiculous -300 and DeRozan is only +350.
I think it's going to come down to Griffin and DeRozan too. I just watched the "Top 10" dunks of each guy, and if in-game dunking is any indicator, I'd give it to Griffin. The 3 point shoot out I'd like to see go to Ray Allen, but it just seems like shooting well in games doesn't mean anything when it comes to shooting off the racks. So, predictions in bold: "Shooting Stars": Team Atlanta: Al Horford (Hawks), Coco Miller (WNBA's Atlanta Dream), Steve Smith (Legend) Team Chicago: Taj Gibson (Bulls), Cathrine Kraayveld (WNBA's Chicago Sky), Steve Kerr (Legend) Team Los Angeles: Pau Gasol (Lakers), Tina Thompson (WNBA's L.A. Sparks), Rick Fox (Legend) Team Texas: Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks), Roneeka Hodges (WNBA's S.A. Silver Stars), Kenny Smith (Legend) Skills: Chris Paul Stephen Curry Derrick Rose John Wall Russell Westbrook 3 point shoot-out: Ray Allen Kevin Durant Daniel Gibson James Jones Paul Pierce Dorell Wright Dunk: DeMar DeRozan Blake Griffin Serge Ibaka JaVale McGee I put the lists up so you guys can copy and pick, too. I'm nice like that. Oh, last prediction: Melo goes to the Knicks.
Rose appears to be the slight favorite on most sites, but really, Rose/Westbrook/Paul/Curry all have good chances; John Wall is the only guy I would bet against. I think Curry and Paul are the two favorites, by a nose, because of their crisp, basic passes and solid perimeter shooting.
Watching some pre-contest stuff with Blake Griffin, and I'll say this: If anybody actually pulls off a double dunk, I would buy their jersey. No questions asked.
You mean a double dunk with two balls, or a double dunk like at the 3:20 mark of this: I want to see a 720. Or, dunk, swing off the rim into a backflip dismount like the Olympics.
Good video, back in the day when you could get a good old ass whopping for being stupid. Wow, uh, are the guys in the skill competition trying for the longest time so they don't have to keep up with this bullshit? D Rose didn't show, and I'm thinking Chris Paul unless something happens with his knee is going to have to retire next year. He's like 60% of what he once was.
That was entertaining. Good shit with the dunk competition. Kenny Smith kills me. The choir singing "I Believe I Can Fly" was pretty much game for me. That shit was hilarious. The car think was nice, it would have been better if it was straight up and not just over the hood, even though that shit was impressive. But the off the backboard honey dip was epic also. Good show, good show. Can't wait for tomorrow night.
That 7' guy McGee should have just balanced a ball on top of the backboard, jumped up and grabbed it and dunked it on his way down. My one complaint about this year was that so many of the guys needed 4+ tries to do a dunk. Yeah, there was some out there shit, but it made me think of the year Nate Robinson took 17 attempts.
Josh Groban should be the only person allowed to sing the National Anthem at any All-Star Game/Super Bowl/Championship sporting event ever again. I saw that earlier. I hope it's some sort of massively early April Fools joke.
I definitely think giving up Felton and Gallinari is a mistake, one that Walsh is against. Melo and Stoudemire are two ball-dominating forwards. Having Felton as a facilitator and Danilo as the spot-up shooter is more valuable.
Interesting take on Kobe and the All-Star Game. I tend to agree; Kobe has been a step below LeBron and Wade the last few seasons, and now, with guys like Rose, Westbrook, and Durant playing as well over, and Nowitzki having a career year, he's still an elite, top 10 player, but not the overwhelming force he once was.
I thought the All-Star weekend was fun to watch, the overall weekend was better than what we've seen these last few years. I had people over so I couldn't watch every single play of the game. Everyone played a little more during the second half to make it interesting, Durant and Kobe were shooting their asses off. Kobe went into attack mode just to prevent LBJ from getting MVP and made a point of that dunk to make sure everyone knew it. His press conference afterward was 50% bullshit, but I still love him, people never want to hear the truth anyway. I was disappointed from what I saw from Rose. I had high expectations that he didn't care about the Skill Competition because he was saving it for the All-Star game. Nope. Maybe he's saving it for the regular season now that Noah will be back. If they start playing well, I will get insanely homerish. Don't bother calling me on it later.
At last...basketball in New York is relevant again. That said, no way in hell they're competing in the oh so stacked East.... It'll be fun watching Anthony trying to prove himself against his old peers James and Wade in the playoffs.
Yeesh. My prediction is that the Knicks are going to be worse from this trade. Like I wrote above, you can't trade a top 8 point guard like Felton, an excellent spot-up shooter in Gallinari, and Wilson Chandler for a 34 year-old Billups, another ball-dominating forward in Anthony, and a few role players. (Balkman, Anthony Carter, and Shelden Williams) Bad move by Dolan (who overruled Walsh on this one), and it's exactly the type of idiot move Isiah Thomas made when he was GM; assemble big-name stars with no consideration for how well they mesh together. And if you've been reading the Yahoo! reports, Thomas has his paws all over this one.
The Knicks trade would make more since if they got Candace Parker to play instead of Mr. Candace Parker.
