I'm not saying that's great sportsmanship, but honestly who gives a fuck? If you don't like getting blown then play better football. Nothing was more annoying than listening to every moronic sports fan whine about the patriots doing this is in 2007. It's not the opposing team's job to make the ass whooping easier on you. If you play like shit you deserve to get embarassed. Edit: Iowa is ranked where they should be because they have four losses, but I still think they would crush the ten teams ranked above them, with the exception of maybe South Carolina.
If you're up by 60 points and keeping your starters in, airing out the football and running trick plays like Bielema was, it is clear and empirical evidence that you have a small penis. There is no other logical conclusion as to why anyone would continue to hammer away at a meaningless opponent long after the outcome was determined. But if that's your point, then yeah, no one gives a fuck, least of all me. I was against that High School girl's basketball coach getting fired for winning 100-0, because it's silly to get fired for being a jackass. You're still, however, a jackass. That's what Bielema is, Indiana's unbelievable level of suckiness notwithstanding.
I would agree that keeping your starters in when the game is out of reach is not very good sportsmanship. However when the reserves are in, I would expect them to play like they want to earn a starting spot and I would call plays to try and continue to score. Afterall there is a good chance that they will be the starters the next year.
Huge Stanford fan and I was so happy to see them finally rout Cal in the Big Game. Sucks that they will probably be shutout of a major bowl with one loss in the Pac-10, coming at the hands of #1 Oregon. I would pick them against any team above them except Oregon and Boise.
College football is probably the only place where I'm okay with running up the score. It's a broken system and style points count in the polls. Plus, they probably have 150 kids dressed for that game. Let the scrubs give it their all. When the Patriots were doing it it was just stupid because they were pissing people off, risking injury, and didn't really get anything out of it but a couple of records.
Today is the day. Auburn vs Alabama right now, Oregon vs Arizona at 5 pst and Boise at Nevada at 7:30. Someone hopefully will go down.
Well until Auburn remembers how to play pass defense it looks like that will be the case. I wonder where they'll put them if/when they lose this game. McElroy is absolutely shredding them.
24 to 7 in favor of Alabama at the start of the third quarter. I wonder if LSU leaps over everyone to guarantee an SEC team in the National Championship game. I do not want to see Boise play TCU or Oregon for the national championship. They have already proved they can play with and beat those schools. Maybe the Ducks and TCU for the national championship with Boise against LSU?
I doubt it. It's almost certain that Boise St will jump TCU if they beat Nevada tonight. LSU might still get into the title game, but there's virtually no chance that TCU will. And looks like we spoke too soon. Auburn only down by 3 now.
I wonder how much Auburn paid cam the criminal to show up for the second half. We need the Tide to roll and help fix the broken BCS.
Eh, if Auburn survives today and in the SEC Championship next week, they deserve their title shot. Damn, did they come back from 21-0!
I think I need to clarify my point here. I am not trying to argue that an undefeated Auburn would be undeserving of a spot in the NC. I want Auburn to lose so that Boise or TCU gets a shot, and then hopefully the combined bitching of the "power" conferences like the SEC, Big Joke (10), Big 12, and Pac-10 who all have one-loss teams will bring about some kind of change. I think that the BCS is broken because the big schools all shit on TCU and Boise for soft schedules, yet when an invitation comes for a home-home against one of them, the big schools are too scared and would rather play a D-II cupcake. Wash, rinse, repeat every year. This is a fundamental problem with the system that needs to be addressed.
I agree with this, but I think we need to give some credit to the Pac 10. Rather than padding their record against teams I could practically play on they usually schedule out of conference against the better schools. The problem is they're getting beat by schools like Boise St and the other BCS conferences are seeing it happen.
Well, now I have to root for South Carolina to knock off Auburn. Perhaps it will happen, as today's game had to have taken a lot out of Auburn. That Nick Fairley is a beast.
I hope I am not the only one watching the Boise Reno game. It is really nice to see a WAC team show how to compete against Boise.
I seriously want to fly to Reno right now and punch Boise State's kicker in the face. I don't care who wins, but to reward that incredible fucking pass-catch with a pussy shank like that, you deserve nothing less than castration.
