If Chris Collinsworth stopped talking 1-2 sentences earlier I might actually enjoy listening to him.

    Question:

On one of the last plays of the Vikings-Packers game (I think it was 2nd down, the short pass to Peterson), didn't Clay Matthews pull off his helmet during the play and continue to run after Peterson? It looked like he grabbed his facemask and pulled his helmet off. Did anyone else see that? They showed replay of it and the announcers jerked him off about his grit and determination. From what I saw, he did it completely on his own, with no contact from any other players.

Doesn't removing your helmet on the field get you an Unsportsmanlike Conduct call? So shouldn't that have been 15 yards, and presumably first down?

The league will probably applaud his proactive approach to eliminating helmet-to-helmet contact.

Are the Patriots benefiting from a Magical Patrick Ewing Effect right now via Randy Moss. I can't fucking believe the two wins they've gotten. I'm getting happy deja vu here. Tom Brady, Deion Branch, and a bunch of people I'm surprised are even in the NFL. Fuck, these guys can go to the Superbowl with the current state of the league. I've never been so excited to look at everyone's scores as I have now. Is everyone else enjoying this shit? This is an amazing football season.

See, that is where you and I will have to disagree. I feel like this has been an incredibly sloppy football season with a lot of teams making crazy mistakes.

Take the Bears, for example. If there is a worse 4-3 team in the NFL, I'd love for you to show it to me. They are 4-3 only because they have been given gift-wrapped wins on a silver platter while the other team gives their mascot a blowjob. They beat the Lions only because of a crappy rule enforced against one of (if not the) best WR in the game. When they beat the Packers, it took so many penalties against the Packers that the refs probably had to get new flags at the end of the game, cause their old ones spent more time on the ground than in their pockets. Then Washington did everything they possibly could to hand the game to Chicago, only to see Chicago say "no, really, we've had enough wins handed to us, please, take it!"

At BEST, Chicago should be 2-5 right now, but somehow they're still leading their division, but that has defined how football has gone this season.

I watched the Chargers/Pats game, and the Pats didn't win the game so much as the Chargers lost. Seriously, I can't believe the number of dumb-ass mistakes I saw from the Chargers. Backwards passes where the player completely gives up on it, a WR catching the ball and going down, then getting up to celebrate, forgetting that he HASN'T BEEN TOUCHED AND ISN'T DOWN, hence when he leaves the ball on the turf, it is a fumble. Shit like that. The Chargers handed that game to the Pats, and the Pats (to their credit) happily took it and went back to the drawing board. I'll guarantee you if you asked Tom Brady or Bill Belichek if he was happy after that game, they'd say hell no. The Pats had no offense and couldn't really move the ball to save their lives. They had one really good drive, but the rest of their points came off of awful Charger turnovers.

The Saints lost to the Browns based almost entirely off of Drew Brees's turnovers. Without those two INTs returned for TDs, that game turns into a Saints route. Again, credit to the Browns, they happily took those mistakes and capitalized on them. At the same time, did they really WIN that game, so much as the Saints LOST it?

Hell, look at that Packers/Vikings game last night. Favre threw 3 picks, and Rodgers threw 2. The Vikings had 3 touchdowns called back after reviews. One at the end where the guy clearly only got 1 foot in bounds, one where the guy ran down the sideline and his foot hit out of bounds, putting the ball at the 1 yard line, and one where they determined that Shiancoe trapped the ball in the end zone, and didn't have full control of it when he was going to the ground. One of Rodgers' interceptions was just one of the worst throws ever: he was trying to throw a screen route, but he threw it directly too Jared Allen, as if the pass was intended for Allen all along.

I feel like sloppy play has been the theme of this season, and the winning team just happens to be the team that fucked up less.

Buffalo Williams', you're killing me. I can't even talk shit, cause I know you don't make half-time adjustments and can't hold a lead.

Stephen Johnson, you are the lone glimmer of hope I have on Sundays.

Marshawn Lynch, I miss having someone to cheer for.

I agree this season has been sloppy all the way around but sloppy or not, I'll take that win last night. I didn't feel good going into the game at all but they won and a win is a win.

    EDIT:
I am the second. And the fact that they booed him when he came out of the tunnel just makes me shake my head. First and foremost I am a fan of the game and in being so have been a Packer fan for a very long time. The guy did this.....but he should have done that.....ya know what? You don't know, it's not your life, how about you shut the fuck up and get over it already. They are like children and it's emabrrassing.

I was actually proud of how the Philly fan's handled McNabb. Trust me I was ready for another stupid Steven A. Smith onslaught of how awful Phily fan's are but they actually had good form for once. When the DM was announced coming out of the tunnel everyone cheered and gave him a nice long standing ovation. Then when he took his first snap he got booed. That is how it should be give him the respect in the beginning, but when he begins to play against your squad boo like crazy.

Packer fan's should be ashamed, Favre gave them plenty of great football as well as a ring. Give him his props out of the gate then boo him, you will have plenty of time to do it.

I'm not saying it justifies any of the Packer fans' actions, but the circumstances under which McNabb left the Eagles are much different than the circumstances under which Farve left the Packers. I have a feeling if McNabb left the Eagles under Farve-like circumstances he might very well have been booed coming out of the tunnel.

This. This is the reason GB fans boo Favre, and I can't say I blame them. Think about what Favre has done. He was all pissy when they drafted Aaron Rodgers (anyone think THAT was a bad decision?), and was even more pissy when they didn't suck his cock to have him to come back. He demanded to go to the Vikings that year, and of course the Packers aren't going to let him go to an NFC rival, let alone one within their division, so he felt slighted for having been sent to the Jets. So what does he do? He 'retires' from the Jets, just so they'll let him go, and then he immediately signs with the Vikings. Make no mistake, Favre signing with the Vikings was for two reasons. 1) To fuck Green Bay, and 2) To win a title... in THAT order. I don't blame GB fans for booing Favre, not for a minute.

Favre will eventually go to the Hall of Fame, and he'll be wearing a Packers uniform, and after time, all will be forgiven. Until then, though? GB fans have every right to feel angry at a guy that essentially walked out the door with both of his middle fingers held high, and then concluded by signing with their divisional rival, which is like growing a 3rd arm just to flip the Packers fans off again.

And that is from a Bears fans, who hates the Packers.

Just wanted to add to the good points in the last two posts. It's not just what he did, it's the way he did it. After he left the jets, he needed to have the vikings fellate his ego both offseasons. On top of that, right before he sealed the deal with the vikings last year, he blatantly lied about returning at the last moment just so he could blow off training camp. Yep, that's a great team player there. Not to mention he let two guys think they had a chance at leading an NFL team, being a starting QB on what was at the time a very good football team, and all because he's just a lazy douche. Fuck him. On top of everything else he's a pervert who cheats on his wife (let's not be naive and pretend the Sterger incident was the first time he did anything, it's first time he got caught). Nice touch Favre. I actually didn't hate him when he left the jets. I was a little upset, but willing to forget and forgive. After what he's done these last two years though? I'll always respect him for what he's done on the field, but at the same time I'll always recognize him for being a massive prick that doesn't give fuck who his decisions affect.

Romo fractured left clavicle. That's at least 8 weeks down the shitter if not more.

What are the odds Kitna can have a Garcia-esque resurgence for those weeks? I'm gonna say not good.

Cheering for these guys is going to give me an aneurysm one day.

And with that, my fantasy seasons are all but fucked. As are the Cowboys. The Cowboys are so fucked they could be legally classified as whores.

I love when people look like other people/things. Not sure if it's really funny or if I just drank too much, but I've been making these for the last hour or so and me and my roommates have just been cracking up. We even got a spot on the wall where the pictures are hanging. Yeah, we're dumb.

Well, Garcia was an ideal fit for their system, even a better fit than the guy he was replacing. Meanwhile, Romo only got the job because their offensive line was so bad that a non-mobile QB would get killed. Yeah, they're screwed.

Well, I'll give the giants credit. They are doing everything they can to keep Dallas in this game.

I agree with everything here except for bashing him because he cheated on his wife. I have to defer to South Park on this one. Man + Fuckload of Money + Celebrity(Sports Star) = infidelity. Too many athletes and famous people (not to mention normal people) are pieces of shit that do this to call him out on it specifically. Everything else, you're dead on. This is coming from a Bears fan who hates Farve football wise. Then again...after all this time, did they REALLY expect him to say anything before training camp? Really? Really? C'Mon Man! FYI, Sage and Tavaris suck donkey balls. They would be winless.

D26, you're right. I texted my friend about the Bears while they were getting their asses kicked. His response was simple.
"They are who we thought they were!"
