How did that work the last time the Raiders were in LA? Or the Rams for that matter? Granted that was 15 years ago, but based on everything I've read lately it's not going to be that much easier to establish a team in the area. Too many people are either transplants and wouldn't give a shit, are USC fans and wouldn't give a shit, or are too busy with work/wrapped up in their own lives and wouldn't give a shit.
3 field goals won the game. Correction, 3 field goals skunked The Jets. Really? That game was about as exciting as getting a filling. OK so while at the bar yesterday there was a guy wearing a green bay t shirt that said "If you're not a Green Bay fan you ain't shit." I want one and have been scouring the interbutz with no luck thus far. Anyone wanna help a girl out with a link? There are 15 happy little green life giving dots it in for ya! It would seem Favre got whacked and had some stitches. They only lost by 10, I was surprised because with the way they've been playing I'd have thought it would have been more.
I would usually always choose football over baseball. If you gave me the choice 1,000 times over I'd pick football about 980 times. But I'm not too excited about tonight's MNF game. I'll probably watch the World Series.
I have to think the only reason they brought him on in the first place was to take some of the heat off of other players *ahem* that are currently under the spotlight for various reasons outside what goes on on the field. Just food for thought.
Just wanted to point this out: It happened a hell of a lot sooner than I thought it would, but then again, even then I didn't think Favre would be this bad this far into the season. I figured his first few weeks he'd be rusty, but that he'd get his shit together. My basic theory was that Moss + Great QB = Moss putting forth a lot of effort, and Moss + Shitty QB = Moss giving up on plays regularly. I think yesterday's game proved it, and now Moss is gone. Admittedly, I didn't see that coming, I figured they'd sign him and keep him around for a while to be another weapon with AP and Harvin, but clearly they feel he will be more of a pain in the ass than he is worth. This article on the Yahoo football blog sums up Moss giving up on a big play, and has the video to go with it. This has been Moss's M.O. his entire career. Good QB = Good effort. Bad QB = bad effort. Whatever team ends up picking Moss up, better hope they have a QB that can get the ball to him regularly, and he damn well better be the center of that QB's offensive scheme as he was in New England. Otherwise, Moss will continue to dog it. Seeing as he is on waivers, and they go in opposite order of record, here are a few options for Moss: Buffalo Bills: I'd just laugh and laugh and laugh. The TO Experiment went okay last year, because T.O. was trying to be on his best behavior to get a new contract with a contending team this year. I don't see them doing it, though. They're rebuilding, and they don't need a distraction like Moss around. Cincinnati Bengals (2-5): Three headed monster: T.O., OchoCinco, and Moss. The universe might implode on Cincy. Denver Broncos (2-6): Was Josh McDaniels in New England while Moss was? If so, I can't help but think McDaniels is crazy/cocky enough to think he can reign in Moss's special brand of batshit. But, my personal opinion of where he'll end up? Dallas Cowboys (1-6): I think it is entirely possible Jerry Jones scoops up Moss like a fat man raiding an unattended ice-cream shop, and signs him to a big-ass deal for the next three years to play opposite Miles Austin (relegating Roy Williams to slot receiver). Because everyone knows that is the answer to the Cowboy's woes... more big-name, big-drama skill position players, not better run blocking or a better defense.
I'd love to see him go to Chicago, between him and Cutler the team's jackass-o-meter would be in the red. Fantastic.
I could not agree more. Since we're going down in flames, this would be excellent. I just read on ESPN that Shanahan is calling Donovan McNabb a bitch. Well not those exact words, but apparently Shanahan saw the Superbowl a few years back and still can't shake McNabbs botched two-minute drill out his memory. God this season is so awesome.
It would also guarantee a couple "fuck you all I'm flexing my arm" moments from Cutler and letting Moss go get it, which would be the only thing I have to enjoy the rest of the season besides the impending dismissal of Lovie and Angelo (aka the thing I pray for every night).
Moss is on the waiver wire, which means there's a precedence to grab him. Who, from the top, is most likely to? Also, as a Vikings fan, I both applaud and despise this move. It makes sense to declare to the team (as Childress did), "We're done with him, for the good of the team." That even makes sense, because of the bizarre press conference and the clear lack of effort on that PI play (had me seeing red, by the way. Fuck a PI call, catch it anyway, for a MOTHERFUCKING TOUCHDOWN, YOU BITCH!!!). But at the same time, you just dropped a 3rd rounder on one of the most dynamic receivers of all time. That PI call play was only the second time he was targeted all game. You can't blame him for being mad (which he didn't talk about to the press, which I think was the impetus behind the not-talking-to-the-press thing). Like I said, one of the most dynamic receivers in the game gets targeted two times against the team with the best record in the league. There's a disconnect somewhere. Either fire Childress or Favre. Childress has done well with the team overall, but basically vouched for Favre. If this were the mob, one of them would have been whacked after this last game. It's a toss up who...
My money is on the Rams or Redskins picking up Moss. What I'd most like to see though is him getting through all 31 other teams and becoming a Patriot again. I don't think it's likely, but it'd be hilarious.
That would be one of the best moves in NFL history, a free third round pick essentially. Right up there with passing on Peyton Manning for Ryan Leaf.
Of course the issue there is that if he doesn't get picked up by a team that's close to winning a Super Bowl, he's not going to give a shit and it'll be Oakland/Minnesota Round II all over again. That said, someone might just be crazy enough to take a chance on him. I'm looking at you Jerry Jones. If he makes it that far without getting signed, I'd be surprised as hell if the Jets don't pick him up, if for no other reason than to keep him from New England. And it might be nice to have a receiver that can hang on to the fucking ball.
Well the first 10 teams aren't going to pick him up because they're probably trying to solidify their locker rooms and get comfortable. He has to get picked up 11-20. Probably St. Louis. THEY HAVE NO RECEIVER THAT SHOULDN'T BELONG IN CANADA! Sam Bradford would definitely get Moss the ball enough times to keep him happy. St. Louis also won't be playing the best corners day in and day out like the Patriots were. If not St. Louis, Seattle. How evil empire would it be if he fell back to the Patriots? Perfect story to tell about Belichick?
Yeah, I blew this call. Surprised he got past St. Louis and Seattle. I guess neither of them are settled enough to live with it. How does Vince Young have the highest passer rating in the league at 103.1 yet Titans are 24th in passing offense? Is it because he throws 4 times a game and completes 3 of them? Chris Johnson is going to return to old number now being a fantasy god. Or Randy is going to destroy CBs.
It's funny that on all the talk shows you have to here about what a "cancer" and "problem" he is. The guy is a first ballot hall of famer with the single season TD record last I checked. You need a strong coach, a coach who will not put up with any nonsense will handle Moss easily. Childress is a joke.
SHEESH!! You and your damn Saints. I don't know about Payton though, Brees is the only superstar on that team. Moss might test his patience. I think Fisher will have no issue with him.
