I cannot fucking believe Washington paid him that much. Albert H made sense, he was fucking dominating. McNabb hasn't been dominant...um...what was the question again? The Redskins are getting Vick'd nasty. I can't believe this. I just got back and I saw the highlights, watching the second half. Fucking christ. More QBs need two years of jail and a recovery year apparently. I'd put Vick under Rogers at this point. This is nuts. The thing about Vick is that his whole team loves him. They were his fans. Jesus, he's a QB now. No one can watch this shit and talk about "oh, he's a glorified running back, he can't throw." I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up on the cover of Madden again. Edit: MCNABB INTERCEPTION FOR TD. I hope they kept they're receipt!
I am so happy that Vick is playing at the level he is. If there's ever been a more exciting watch in the history of the NFL I'd love for someone to introduce me. It's like watching a game of Madden.
Wow. Just wow. The Eagles might have played one of the top 5 offensive games ever. Not just with yards, points, time of possession - but everything together...man, that was something. Vick has me torn between being a dog-lover and someone that totally believes in second chances. I found myself rooting for him.
I turned the skins game off last night after McNabb threw the interception from the 2 yard line that inevitably set up Vick's let's-trot-into-the-endzone-without-so-much-as-a-finger-on-my-fucking-jersey touchdown. With the score at 42-14, I was beyond done watching. McNabb pisses me off because he is so wildly inconsistent. He started 2/6 with 6 passing yards, then some fan must've shot him in the neck with a blowdart filled with meth because he went 4/4 for 156 yards and two touchdowns in no time at all. Then the meth wore off and he sucked again. It wasn't all on him, as there were big problems on both sides of the ball, but he's driving me a little crazy. I'm also convinced that Dan Snyder isn't a man, but rather a robot-monkey hybrid with downs syndrome--the result of a failed experiment to create an upright roomba that, in time, might be able to fetch you a beer and do a mediocre job cleaning your home (yet, always having trouble getting stuck on chair and table legs and transitions from lenoleum to carpet). $80 million...what the fuck?
I know it's easy to be confident when you've dominated a football game in such fashion, but holy shit do the Eagles have swagger.
I can only echo what's already been said, whoa. I cannot believe what I watched last night. I really really want to hate the guy for the terrible and cruel things he did, and I do but as a lover of football, he has turned into a top rank QB. I just sat there with my mouth hanging open thinking "Did he really just do that?" "Did they really just do that?" I haven't seen a game that dominated so far this season and the way they did it.....I'm still amazed. They do have a swagger, and they deserve to have it. I turned the game on with about 10-11 left in the first and they were up by two TD's.....IN THREE MINUTES. As for the bitch that is McNabb, he just sucks. He's always been overrated and now he's overpaid too boot. I'd fire everyone in the offices and start over again.
By the way, anyone else think Dez Bryant is the next Andre Johnson? The speed, the size, the athleticism; it's all there.
Anybody think the 9ers have a chance to beat Tampa this week and keep pace in the NFC West on the shoulders of Troy Smith? I kind of thought the Niners season was a foregone conclusion but Troy Smith looks like everything Alex wasn't, and they're finally using their weapons. The way the season has been going though, I feel like it's only so long before we see Troy Smith throw a couple picks and drop a fumble. If not that, Singletary will find a way to fuck it up. They've only got one, MAYBE two losses to spare and Green Bay ahead on the schedule. They would really have to step it up if they want to rally though, as they barely beat the Rams.
No not really. While Johnson is only an inch taller he's bigger he uses his body more to box out defensive backs. Bryant is a speed back and an excellent route runner. I may even think Bryant is the better athlete of the two, incredible agility and speed. Bryant is going to be more of a Tory Holt like wideout or maybe a Reggie Wayne. I agree with you that Dez is the real deal but I would not compare him to Andre.
I think the knock against Troy Smith is that people think he's too short to play QB in the NFL, I think he's 5'10 or 5'11 and will have trouble seeing over the line. I know he's played well in a couple of games but I'd like to see a larger sample size.
Drew Brees seems to do just fine, and he spends more of his time in the pocket that Smith. The real knock against Smith was the Florida game, where he went from one of the more accurate QB's in the country to hitting receivers in the feet on slant routes. That game was so unlike the rest of the games he played that year, that I'm still not completely convinced he didn't throw the game.
So Thursday night games start tonight. I was talking to the bar owner and he said that even though he got the Sunday Ticket, to see Thursday night games, he'd have to buy the Thursday Night Ticket too. What the fuck kinda bullshit is that? Don't they make enough money off that shit as it is? He's got the Sunday Ticket on 5 TVs, which he had to pay for per unit. What a racket they've got going on. He might as well be getting a shake down from the mob.
Thursday night games started last week, chicks man. NFL is king of the shakedowns they make Dana White and the boxing boys look like punks. NFL network? scam.
Shit, I forgot about my picks pool and they all have to be in by 4 hours before kickoff of the first game of the week. I need help. I'm one of the last 7 people left in the survivor portion of this picks pool, and I refuse to lose. My options are: NO at home against Sea (thinking of going with this one) SD at home against Den (Rivers will pick their awful secondary apart, and it would be nice to have NO to use in future weeks) Cincy at home against Buffalo (I mean, they HAVE to win this one, it's fucking Buffalo) I know NO is the safest pick, but it might be nice to save them. Ehhhhhh help!
Is it about time to start taking the bears seriously? They're now at 7-3 and are the number 1 defense in points allowed per game. I still think they have too many issues on offense to be a true super bowl contender, but they're quietly becoming the best team that nobody talks about.
No, they still have no OL and suspect offensive play calling. The only good win they have is at home against a banged up Packers team. They have garbage home losses to the Seahawks and the Redskins. Their schedule has been favorable so far, but they have the Packers and Vikes on the road coming up as well as the Jets, Patriots, and Eagles. Listen, I am a HUGE Bears fan, but I realize the shortcomings of this team. The defense looks fantastic and I give Rod Marinelli all the credit in the world, but the offense has been schizophrenic and Martz's hubris and stubbornness has prevented them from reaching a true flow throughout the season. Cutler has really begun to play well moving out of the pocket and using his legs to make plays, but his WRs still drop too many balls and he has limited time. This is a Bears team who beats who they should, but they are not a deep playoff or Super Bowl contender. And while I am pleased to see them 7-3 and playing well, in the back of my head, I just fear extensions for Lovie and Jerry Angelo when both of them need to go for creating a team with weaknesses the Bears have. If Jerry Angelo could have drafted halfway decent the last 5 years, then the Bears may very well be an NFC and Super Bowl contender.
I think the fact that they still have to play the Eagles, Pat's and Packers at home could be an issue. I think they need to be taken seriously because the NFC is so dismal, however they are not among the elite in the league. You don't know what team is going to show up.
Oh yeah, they're not an elite team. I'm not being a homer when I say you have to believe the division will go to Green Bay. However, I think they might sneak into the playoffs as a wild card, with the only real significance being Lovie Smith gets to keep his job for another year. If they have a good off season they might be a dangerous team next year. Plus, while the OL still sucks, they have been improving. At least they aren't costing them games outright lately. In unrelated news everyone at work is sporting their Favre jerseys. I keep trying to mock them, but all they do is agree with me. Viking fans are funny. For the eagles fans - what do you think Vick is worth? After this season is over he's going to be an unrestricted free agent, and he's playing better than anyone expected. I think you have to assume his numbers are going to drop off a bit (not that he won't play well, but come on, dude hasn't even thrown a pick yet). Considering the deal Mcnabb got, is he worth $100 million plus? Edit: Oh, and it might be a good time to start talking about the MVP race. If he manages to take that cluster fuck of a team to the playoffs I think it belongs to Rivers.
