But here is the thing, it is Giant policy to never let a coach enter a year on the final year of a contract. They do not do it, so therefore they would have to give him an extension. Does he deserve a extension because that is the only way he is coaching the Giants next season if they don't make the playoffs.

Thanks to Tim "Jesus 2.0" Tebow and the Cincinnati clownstomping, the Carolina Panthers are officially on the clock. No. 1 pick bitches! If Andrew Luck doesn't come out, I will cry. If Andrew Luck doesn't come out and the Panthers pick Cam Newton No. 1 overall, I will shove a dried, brittle Christmas tree up Jerry Richardson's ass.

Also, you god damn motherfucking draft-savvy New England Patriots, enjoy the No. 33 pick. Armanti Edwards has really been worth it. Fuck. I don't know what's worse, that Carolina wasted a prime pick on a bust from Appalachian State because he's a folk hero in NC, or the fact that App. State grads still actually think he should start. At QB.

For the record: if Luck doesn't come out, I fully support trading down. No other QB is nearly is good, and the other huge needs are DT and WR. Trade down, acquire a starting DT, and take AJ Green. I'm not sold on him by a long shot, but Clausen deserves another year to prove himself before being labeled a bust, IF (and ONLY IF) Luck isn't available.

I can't imagine Luck would be stupid enough not to come out. If the panthers try to trade down it's unlikely anyone will bite. Teams have tried it before and no one was interested. There just isn't much incentive to spend that much money on an unproven quantity.

I agree. If you're projected No. 1, you come out. There are several recent examples of QBs returning to school when they should have declared, and killing themselves. Jake Locker and Jevan Snead come to mind instantly. Luck seems to be somewhat of an exception, though, in that a Stanford degree seems important to him. The up-in-the-air status of next season also could influence his decision.

That said, if he came to Carolina, he'd have one of the top backfields in the league, a solidly above-average O-line, and a promising young defense at his back. You likely won't get that from the 2011 league bottom-feeder. I honestly don't think I'm being a homer here. The defensive stats are shit, but they've been riddled by injuries, and the numbers are skewed because the offense can't stay on the field. Even if DeAngelo leaves, Stewart/Goodson is a formidable tandem. Otah will be back from the IR, joining Jordan Gross as Pro-Bowl caliber offensive linemen. A situation could be far worse for a No. 1-pick QB.

Also, Luck's dad is the AD at West Virginia, a short drive up I-77 from Charlotte. So there's that.

I think you might be a bit generous with the panthers there. I love their running game, but I don't know if I'd call the defense promising yet. It's true though, there's been far worse looking teams taking the #1 pick. Does their receiving corp have much going for it other than Steve Smith these days?

Anyways, Singletary gets fired. I'm too tired and busy to read the full article right now. Whatever, it's not like the reasons are a mystery. If you can't make the playoffs in that shit show of a division it's about time to get canned.

This offseason will be a crazy one for coaches. There could be as many as 10-12 vacancies, when usually the average is about six. Cowher and John Fox will both be hired somewhere, and you have to assume someone pulls the trigger on Garrett if the Cowboys don't. Who else is out there? Harbaugh and Russ Grimm come up a lot, but who are some other hot candidates? Of the fired coaches this season, the only one I see ever leading a team again is Josh McDaniels. I'm surprised Singletary lasted as long as he did, he was terrible.

My predictions: Cowher to Houston. If the Giants cut ties with Coughlin, John Fox is their next HC. If the Giants stick with Coughlin, which I think they will, Fox goes to CLE -- though SD is a possibility. Harbaugh to SF and Russ Grimm to Minnesota or Carolina. The Cowboys hire Garrett if they don't get Cowher.

One more thought on the Panthers D: Drew Brees called it one of the best defenses he's faced all year. They're young, they're fast, and Beason is a hell of a leader. Charles Johnson quietly has 10.5 sacks. If they can get a quality run-stuffing DT, and the youngsters continue to improve at their current clip, they'll be top-10 again in two years. The Panthers also have a shit-ton of cap room and will be major players in free agency, though the focus likely will be re-signing their own, such as James Anderson, Thomas Davis, and Charles Johnson. I'll now shut up about Carolina for a few days. I don't blame anyone if they think I'm suffering from a textbook case of delusional fan optimism.

I've always thought that Carolina's Defense wasn't that bad. My thinking was that Carolina's D gets constantly shafted by their offense turning the ball over. How much can a defense do when an offense is consistently getting 3-and-outs or turning the ball over. The offense can't do a god damned thing, so their defense is on the field more than average, they're tired, and they start giving up plays and points.

If their offense could stay on the field a bit, their defense could rest and do better.

However, it will take more than a QB to fix that offense. They've got the running backs. They need a run-blocking O-line to go with a few wide receivers that can actually catch the ball and make plays. Steve Smith is getting old and, in my opinion, isn't even the best Steve Smith in football anymore. A QB will help, but an O-Line is where it starts.

I think the defense still needs some rebuilding too, but yeah, no reason to believe they can't be top ten in a couple years. And I guess it's true that they aren't as bad as the stats suggest, the offense has given them virtually no help this season. As for Brees saying that though, players say that kind of crap all the time. It doesn't really mean they believe it, it's just handling the media well.

I have to give my shout out to the chargers. Missing the playoffs while being #2 in total offense and #1 in total defense. Bravo. I don't think that has ever happened before. And if they rack up a lot of yards against a terrible broncos defense they can finish #1 in both. Fucking hilarious.

The conversation has long since passed, but I just got back on...

A 5-10 team can have bandwagoners because they're 2 years removed from 0-16, and have actually had good drafts in the years since. The future is brighter for the Lions now than it has been at any point probably since 1989, and definitely since Barry retired. How do all these people who aren't fans know this? Because on every radio station in Detroit, sports or otherwise, it's all you hear between the shitty music.

As for being "That guy" wearing all the gear and lording my true fanship over others? There's a reason I bought this hat, and it was so I wouldn't get labeled as a bandwagon fan when everybody started loving the Tigers.

That Saints Falcon's game was good enough to be a Superbowl game. Mike Tirico could have lost his voice after that game, he was shouting and freaking out more than I've ever heard him. Drew Brees...man. Wow. No words for him. The Saints Defense also showed up as a real defense now a gimmicky defense that has to "scheme" to win as they were accused of earlier in the year. They shut down a top running game, TE and WR. If they have to play again I'm going to watch the whole thing and not miss a second.

Predictions on the Eagles Vikings game?

I predict an even more lobsided victory if it wasn't for the cold weather associated with a night game this time of year.

Oh and because I can't let a good argument die when I'm sorta/kinda right and since Vick is playing tonight: an article that outlines Vick's return and the specific training regiments he had to go through to become the new 2010 Vick. Ahem. Then again I'm still wrong, it was Mornhinweg (say that three times fast), not Andy that made the new Vick.

    Some highlights

Wow, I cannot believe the number of breaks that are falling the Bears way this season. They have literally just fell ass-backwards into a number 2 seed and a first round bye. Did ANYONE think that the Vikings, led by Joe Webb, would beat down Vick and the Eagles? I thought the Eagles were a lock in that game.

The Packers just got as lucky as possible, too. We'll see what the Bears decide to do next week, but they would have to be out of their minds to play Cutler, Forte, Urlacher, Briggs, and the rest of their starters, which could give the Packers a nice, easy right into the playoffs.

The ONLY thing the Bears might have to play for is the number 1 seed, which they can only get with a metric fuckton of help (the Falcons AND the Saints have to lose). I don't see that happening, and the Bears would have to be fucking dumb to go for that.

That was absolutely humiliating. Sean McDermott, Mart Morningweg and Reid should be tarred and feathered.

News Flash, the Vikings are blitzing every down, maybe just maybe you could try and exploit it.

Third and 18 and you blitz the player who is supposed to cover Percy Harvin, giving him a free release into the secondary. I have to hear Collinsworth wack off about Joe Webb when in reality Webb never took his eyes off Harvin. Why should he? He's the number one WR without Rice!!!

I can't complain to much about Vick after the season he has been having he is entitled to a crappy game, I wasn't sure what he was doing that's for sure.

The falcons and saints play first too so the bears will know by kick off if they can lock up the 1 seed. Thank you vikings. Frazier might get the head coaching job next year. I think he deserves it, they brought the heat on Vick all game, and it worked pretty damn well. Speaking of Vick, after coming back down to Earth tonight I think it's safe to say the MVP is going to Brady. Vick was probably behind already and after that game I don't see him winning it.

I honestly don't understand why everyone thinks the eagles are a better team than the bears. The bears beat the eagles, jets, and packers, as well as played good defense all year (with the exception of last week). I just don't see the eagles making the super bowl. I think too much would be required of their offense to win 3 straight games against tough teams.

So barring a complete disaster the packers will be in the playoffs and hopefully wiping out the eagles in the wild card round. APOLOGIZE SHEGIRL. APOLOGIZE!!!!

I don't agree with this at all. I don't think the Eagles are better than the Bears but they can beat the Packers. With the exception of whoever wins the St. Louis, Seattle mess the Packers will be the worst team to come out of the NFC.(I don't think the Giants will make it if they keep that kind of play up) Simply because offensively they are completely 100% one dimensional.

The defense is good but it's not a Pittsburgh shut down defense, they still need to score. Aaron Rogers is amazing but I can imagine whatever team that plays them will be throwing everything and the kitchen sink at him. Simply put they have no running game, no reason to stack the box if there is no threat of a run. I honestly think the Buc's could probably beat the Packers. The Packers dominated an extremely deflated Giant team, you can't make to much a deal about one game. Just like you can't make an enormous deal about the Eagles last night, although I think it confirmed they most likely will not win the Superbowl. When a good coach who knew how to exploit the Packers lack of running faced them they lost, too inferior teams. Washington and Miami are not even close to Green Bay talent wise but managed to win.

I hate to say it packer fans but if they get in I would bet on an early exit. I honestly think the team to worry about is New Orleans, Brees doesn't seem very interested in losing. He proved that in Atlanta. The Bears being at home is of course going to be a challenge for any team, some of the best linebackers in football will make sure of that. However who knows what Jay Cutler will show up? After their performance against the Pats I don't think they deserve another shot at them! I'd much rather see NO vs. New England in the big game. (Of course I'd really love to see the Eagles but after last night I'm pretty sure the team is not quite superbowl caliber)

If I was a Green Bay fan I would be furious about this.

    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/7739242-pro-bowl-2011-full-list-lead-by-michael-vick-and-tom-brady" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-ne ... -tom-brady</a>

Matty Ice over Rogers? Yeah I'm not buying that shit. Of course the way the media has been masturbating about Ryan I'm not surprised.

While we are at it I much rather would have seen Peyton Hillis get a spot then Michael Turner. They both have 11 TD's with Turner having more yards. However when you include Hillis's receiving yards and TD's he's more productive. I guess I can understand needing to make sure that a 13-3 team has plenty of representatives, in my opinion Roddy White would have been fine.

It was kind of funny that DeSean Jackson made the pro bowl. Don't get me wrong I love watching him play and his big play threat is always present. However he only had 46 receptions and six TD's, opposed to Jeremy Macklin with 70 receptions and 10 TD's. Jackson has more yards but not by much. I'd be curious to see Jackson's stats against Hakeem Nicks as well. I don't think it's the punt return either seeing Devin Hester is the NFC's return representative.

Regardless the worse snub is Rogers this year.

Eh, I think we all realize that Pro Bowl selections are kind of a joke, even just looking at the Packers themselves. Charles Woodson over Tramon Williams? Come on.
