I want to see how he acts when he has money again. Yeah, he made a couple mil the past 2 years but I was under the impression he was still underwater for having to default on a bunch of things when he was first convicted and he lost his endorsements and all. I want to see how he acts next season and beyond, when he has the big contract and possibly some endorsement money. IMO, it's easy to be contrite and remorseful when you've lost everything. I want to see if he's still the same when he has some of that handed back to him (deservedly so, he played his ass off this year).
Vick doesn't have any money, he's still in a lot of debt. He's making over 5 million this year but is on a budget, and only gets money for the essentials. It was broken down somewhere, he gets like 3,500 a month for rent, 500 for a car payment, and other living expenses. I assume he'll get a raise next year and get rich again with endorsements so he'll be fine, but as of now he's not living like a high profile athlete. I think the Eagles are fucked, since they didn't get the first round bye they'll have to play a tough first round game (packers or giants most likely, probably not bucs) and then go to Chicago in round 2. The coaching staff can't adapt to anyone; when people blitz Vick, shouldn't they be doing quick slants or screens? Or maybe run the ball! I shouldn't know more than the coaching staff. I can't believe how bad they looked on Tuesday against the Vikings. Vikings D also dropped 3 easy picks from Vick. He clearly wasn't playing well. I don't like how they went from a west coast offense last year to a big play offense. Shut down the big plays, and they lose. We all saw it last year when Dallas did it to the Eagles.
Or, alternatively, he thinks that acting contrite is the best way to regain sponsors, make money, and win respect and fans, but feels he did nothing wrong. You never know what's inside of a man. Perhaps he does look upon what he did with horror and has shed all the unsavory influences out of his life, perhaps not. Too many people are taking the favorable position just because of his stellar play. Really now? What have Charlie Sheen and especially Robert Downey Jr. done that even remotely compares to Vick's actions? Vick killed and tortured defenseless animals that are supposed to be man's best friends. Sheen and Downey ingested tons of drugs, a victimless crime that only hurt themselves. Look, there are people who have done worse things than Vick and are still playing (and respected) in the NFL, but let's not exaggerate and say it was only a petty crime, either.
Yeah, except for you're wrong. <a class="postlink" href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Michael-Vick-buys-Porsche-for-girlfriend-bankruptcy-121610" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Mich ... tcy-121610</a>
Not really on point, but Charlie Sheen did kill a hooker. Also, there's not real point about arguing this. There are going to be countless examples of people who the public feels got off easy or got to much punishment.
No idea where the hell Chater has been, but his Saints are showing that undying resolve to win again and we're at the end of the season and Drew Brees is close to beating the Madden Curse. That's ridiculous and it is scary. Daunte Culpepper 2002 - Most Fumbles in a single season and 23 INTs. Marshall Faulk 2003 - Overall ability decline, loss 1.5+ YPC and knees gave out. Michael Vick 2004 - Broke his leg. Ray Lewis 2005 -Wrist Injury, kept him out (week 15), first season without an INT. Donovan McNabb 2006 - Hernia and ACL Shaun Alexander 2007 - Foot injury Vince Young 2008 - Always been mentally injured. Was benched the first game due to being "special". Had a quadricep injury returned in the game, but later injured and missed a game in week 6. Stretching here, but it caught up with him the next year with the Titans going 13-3 with him on the bench. Brett Farve 2009 - Torn biceps, didn't miss games but 22 interceptions, went 2-9 the last 5 games of the season and we know now about Jenn Sterger. Larry Fitzgerald + Troy Polamalu 2010 - Troy MCL injury and torn ligament. Missed about 10 games. Larry played a full season with great stats, but had a rib injury at the end of the year. His real injury came when Kurt retired and he had Matt Leinert, Derek Anderson, Max Hall, and whoever the fuck this current guy is. Now Drew Brees 2011 - Injury free, started all of his games, rather successful stats. 23 interceptions, 2nd highest in NFL. But his team is a juggernaut going into the playoffs. This is some interesting shit, he could be the most successful person to be on the cover of Madden, and go back to the post season.
No he's right. They made a huge deal about this on all the Philly radio stations the general theory is that an agent fronted him. They went through his monthly "allowance" it's not exactly living in the poor house but he's not buying whatever he wants.
Charlie Sheen evidently held a knife to his wife's throat in Colorado. RDJ had gun charges as well as numerous drug convictions. One where he passed out in his neighbor's child's bed. They couldn't wake him and called the police. Not exactly victimless but I see your point. Vick's crime is seen differently all over the nation. Some people are appalled, others point out that they were animals. If you compare him to some other athletes it might not be that bad. If you recall Clinton Portis couldn't believe Vick was getting in so much trouble and told reporters "he could bring them to a dogfight right now!" Of course he's kind of an idiot, but in some cultures it might be accepted.
Um, this John Fox stuff was "breaking news" back in early December...........2009. Weis to the Gators? Honestly can't say I saw that coming. I don't think he's a head coach, but he's a hell of a coordinator, and one that belongs in the NFL.
Doing the same job at the college level has got to be a step backward. I'm going to throw out the rampant speculation that the Chiefs were looking to bring in Josh McDaniels to coach Cassel again and Weis knew he was about to be forced out.
Same with Kubiak and the Texans. You have to assume the Vikings retain Frazier, as well. A lot of these would-be vacancies are filling up pretty fast. One thing's for sure: the John Fox era and his abysmal final season in Carolina will mercifully be coming to an end in a mere four hours.
I feel sorry for Aaron Rodgers. His receivers are dropping or tipping nearly every ball he throws. How good could he be if his passes were caught?
I sense of urgency from the offense would be nice. The defense is fighting like hell to keep them alive. Very lucky to only be down 3-0 at this point. It looks like Lovie Smith was not kidding about playing for the win.
Good riddance to one of the worst Vikings' seasons in recent memory. I knew it was going to be a rough season before it started but even I didn't think it was going to be that bad. From my count they'll have the 11th pick in the draft; they better get a QB if it's not a total reach when it comes to that point. Hopefully the toiletdome roof collapse will make the legislature realize that worthless stadium's got to go.
Wow, that's awful. How many times have we seen a last second sideline timeout end up biting the team in the ass? The Bears just converted a 3rd & 15 except it didn't count because Lovie called a TO at the last second. So then when they redo the play Cutler gets sacked instead. They really should just go back to the old way where only players could call timeout.
Food for thought: The Patriots scored 518 points this year, 7th most in NFL history. Their top 2 receivers and best receiving RB (Welker, Branch, Woodhead) are all 5'9" or under. How's that for a stat? Just goes to show how great Brady and Belichick are.
Tom Brady set a record this year for his TD:INT ratio; for every 1 INT, he tossed 9 TDs. The previous record, also held by Brady, was 6.25:1. No other QB in the history of the league has ever had higher than 6:1 for a complete season. That's just...unreal.
To pre-empt possibly being proven wrong, that's something I regurgitated and didn't fact-check except to make sure his 2010 ratio was really 9:1. It sounded plenty plausible. Regardless, 9:1 is a hell of a fucking stat.
Had a bunch of people blathering in the room at the time, but what coach was that? You'd think the head coach/coordinators for each side would be the only ones allowed to call timeout.
