Interesting article. I kind of wish they'd focused a little less on the "I told you so." of Dick Pound, though. That guys name is toxic in any steroids-in-hockey discussion and if this sparks any debate he needs to stay the hell out of it. I hope, but doubt, that this will spark some intelligent discussion in the hockey world on the topic of steroids rather than the "all hockey players use steroids" vs "no hockey players use steroids" we ended up with last time out.

On a lighter note, here's Zdeno Chara in a bunny suit.

Holy shit, could you have asked for a better game for Crosby to come back? I'll leave it at that.

Almost at the half way point of the season and there are quite a few surprises as to how some teams are performing and where they are sitting on the ladder.

Who are your surprises? Who has disappointed this season?

I always thought tthe Rangers and the Panthers were going to do a lot better this season but I never expected the Panthers to be at the top of their division. Also Minnesota and Toronto have done a lot better than I thought they would too.

Among the disappointments I really thought Tampa and Carolina would be doing better. The Caps and Sharks have also been no where near as good as they could have been.

Surprises: Panthers, Bruins, and Stars. I thought the Bruins would be good and definitely a playoff team but holy shit. They look like they could repeat right now. The panthers are much better than I expected them to be. I thought that losing Vokun would definitely make them weaker they've looked much better than they ever did last season. I thought the Stars would be at the bottom of the pacific division this season but Jamie Benn has been incredible this season.

Disappointments: Anaheim and Los Angeles. I expected both to be near the top of the pacific division this year. I never dreamed that a team with Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Selanne, and Hiller would be one of the worst in the league. This team has played like shit all season. It doesn't help that Hiller hasn't played nearly as well as he did before his injury last season.

I wish it wasn't part of the Montreal trainwreck otherwise we could be laughing at Calgary for going back to the past again.

That said, despite how poorly executed it was - Am I the only one who thinks Montreal won this trade?
They get what will probably be a high 2nd judging by how terrible Calgary is / will be next year, they cut 3 million off their cap, and they gain 5 inches in height and a guy whos outscored Cammalleri over the past three seasons.

Its not ideal but it's not a fleecing which is what it seems like the Toronto media is playing it as.

Seems like Tim Thomas wanted to make his strong 'Small Government' tea party statement by not showing up at the white house, due to his believing theyre eroding his freedom, or whatever.
Good to see a strong stance on this, from someone employed by a monopolistic revenue sharing organization.

But hey at least the Leafs and Habs know how to beat the Bruins now - just surround him with Left Wingers and he won't show up.

My Habs are now in last place in the Eastern Conference. Geoff Molson needs to pull the trigger on Pierre Gauthier. Don't let this fucker do one more thing to this fucking team. Get rid of the UFA's and get as many draft picks or decent prospects as possible. As much as I would like the team to play for pride and win some games, staying at the bottom of the barrel would ensure a good draft position in a draft loaded with good talent.

In other news, holy shit does Malkin ever look good.

He already managed to shit the bed on Kostitsyn - if you want to fix the problems you need draft picks for THIS year.
