How does Tehren compare to Hanson? Hanson had quite a bit of hype, and the impression I've had from what little I've read about Tehren is that he's good, but doesn't have as many expectations as Hanson did when he was coming up. Also, has Schafer made any progress since being sent back to the minors and getting suspended? That one link you provided didn't even have him in the 2014 projections.
Edward Salcedo continues to tear up the Braves farm system. It's scary to think what the Braves could be like in 3 years. A roster led by McCann, touting the likes of Heyward, Freeman, Salcedo, Uggla, Hanson, Jurrjens, Tehren, Beachy, Minor, Venters... Excuse me, I need a Kleenex.
Jaime Garcia perfect through 7, and he looks AWESOME doing it. He just made Ryan Braun look foolish with a slider.
Slightly higher ceiling, much lower floor? No one's doubting that Teheran's got electric stuff, but command & durability are going to be concerns. Here are 2 good contrasting views from today: Goldstein at BP speaks to a scout who thinks he'll end up a #1 on a championship caliber team while Adam Foster at project prospect is a bit more reserved, allowing for the possibilities that he becomes a #2-3 starter or bullpen arm. Either way, I'll be watching his start tomorrow night. It still doesn't seem like he's recovered from the wrist injury he had. He's not quite "organizational depth" but he's at the point where he needs to start producing. And that's leaving out Delgado & Vizcaino, Perez, Lipka and prospects either injured like Marek (having TJ) or struggling like Spruill. Realistically several of those guys won't be contributing to the team in 3 years, they'll either be shipped or flame out, but it's nice to have a farm system that consistently produces players to get excited about.
Kendrys Morales to miss the rest of the season after having another surgery on his ankle. He must curse himself everyday for that stupid celebration.
Only in Philadelphia. Being a Phillies fan is tough. Even with the best record in baseball, we STILL have to find something to bitch about. This week: sagging offense. Never mind they're the best team in all of baseball. WE WANT PERFORMANCE!!!! Man, we really are a bunch of assholes.
This is why I hate fans of all Philadelphia sports. No loyalty, no support, no being happy even when you win. Fuck Philadelphia. This doesn't go for ALL of you guys, of course. But I'd wager that 95% of you should die from choking on one of those sandwiches.
No kidding, that guy is ridiculous. If he stays healthy this season he might be able to put up some monster numbers.
Braves won Phils lost. 2.5 games back. Watch out assholes. I also enjoyed Uggla sending pieces of timber Holiday's way all day Sunday.
Bobby Valentine, on Baseball Tonight, just called Craig Kimbrel the right-handed version of Billy Wagner. That's some really high praise. Speaking of Braves pitching: Hanson, Jurrjens, Hudson, and Beachy are currently #3, #4, #7, and #12 for NL WHIP right now. Their pitching is looking to be among the best in baseball right now: in the entire ML, Atlanta is ranked #2 for ERA, #1 for BAA, #1 for WHIP, #1 strikeouts, and #4 for walks. Now if they could just do something about their damned hitting...
Hitting should come around assuming that Chipper and Jason are fine. Uggla has started to actually hit instead of swinging for the fences every time (which was shades of late Braves-era Andruw Jones) and Freeman should get better as he gets adjusted to major league pitching. I was reading today about Lowe being our most tradeable asset, if we could get a bat for him we could get nasty. Even if we get rid of him it would be Hudson, Hanson, Jerrjens, then some combo of Beachy/Minor/Teheren. I also think that Medlin is about to be back. Nice 7-8-9 combined with Venters and Kimbrel. I'm excited about the Bravos chances.
For the foreseeable future, Teheren is going to stay in AAA after making another spot start on Wednesday while Beachy remains on the DL.
From what I've seen of Freddie he tends to say the right things and then adapt to what is best for the team. He said Jurrjens/Ross was gonna be a battery then he put McCann in one game because he hit well against the opposing pitcher and he said Kimbrel would not give way to Venters but once Kimbrel got it on track Freddie started dropping hints at Johnny closing some games to rest Craig. I like the guy as a manager (despite the fact that I think he should have gotten himself kicked out after that failed 3rd strike and the next day when there was a questionable pitch), its just hard getting used to post Bobby Cox life. I'm 26 so Bobby is all I've known as far as day to day managing.

Curtis Granderson is tied with Jose Bautista for the league lead in home runs with 20? Baseball is weird.
Granderson has hit the 2nd most home runs in baseball since Kevin Long worked on his swing the middle of last year. What has helped is he is finally hitting left handed pitchers.
