I haven't decided yet where McNabb ranks on my list of "Guys I hate watching play" but he's moving up it. He's definitely up there on the list of how much worse a guy plays than his final statline indicates. I now understand why Philly fans were eager to get rid of him despite the decent enough stats he's always put up.
The Raiders are a fascinating team to watch. Such brilliance, such ineptness, and often back-to-back.
Megatron's my boy, and Matthew Stafford's my fantasy starter. It's got to the point that there's very few teams I hate. I can't dislike Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cam Newton is Black Jesus. At least Eli Manning will always be George W. Bush in quarterback form.
Richard Seymour accounted for 35 yards of Pats offense on their first drive. Yeesh. In other news, Wes Welker is on pace for 160 receptions and 2400 yards, both of which would shatter record marks.
Hey Wheelz... Tebow got some playing time. Does he have to take his balls out of your mouth the whole time he's suited up, or does he have a special zipper for that?
On the flipside of this. I don't know how to say this in any other way but..."I enjoy watching Cam Newton play the game of football." I will now unfortunately watch everyone one of their fucking games unless the Patriots or Bears are playing. The throw he made off his back foot at a 45 degree arm angle went 55 yard. Holy fucking shit.
Can we just come out and say Mark Sanchez is not a good QB? Can we just say it? I don't want to hear that his center got injured. So did Dan Koppen, and not a goddamn thing has changed for them. The excuse machine is off there. Sanchez was making bad throws and bad decisions. Can we just say he's bad? Joe Flacco, we're watching you also.
Yes. It's not like he's a rookie any more. He has receiving weapons. Given their defense-based philosophy, his job should not to make errors. And boy does he make a lot of errors.
On top of this, let me throw in two names. Cam Newton and Andy Dalton. I shouldn't have to explain this but I'll toss a sentence for the slow people. Two Rookies in WAY fucking worst situations coming in and performing well. I just want everyone to get off Mark Sanchez's nuts, if NFL branded talk radio is any indication, I think we're finally getting there.
Yeah, I think the majority of people are getting off the Sanchez train. The fact that he plays for a good team will keep him around longer than need be though. The guy's been deep in the playoffs both of his years in the league, and some people will take that into consideration. I remember hearing Trent Dilfer on a Bill Simmons podcast convince me that Mark Sanchez was going to be a great QB because he's an alpha male and people follow him. I've come to realize that you still need an accurate arm and good decision-making ability to be a competent QB in the NFL. In other news, the 49ers are looking at least 10 times better coached than last year. Now that the offense is growing, if they can utilize Braylon Edwards when he comes back they will have a potent offense to go with their crushing run defense. Pass defense is better this year(I think it was 31st last year), but secondary will definitely be the position to assess in the draft. The Niners will do well this year against rushing teams(I'm looking at you Tampa Bay), but if they play any high caliber passing teams, such as the Lions after this week, they're going to get revealed, hard. Both the Cowboys and Eagles shredded them through the air, I'm not excited to see what Stafford will do to them. All in all, positive start to the year and it looks like our front seven got better, and Alex Smith is attempting to redeem himself.
I'm getting off the bus with this guy also. I heard that podcast and that statement is turning out to be complete shit, and sometime last week he said something really fucking stupid about a QB (Flacco, Ryan or Sanchez, one of those guys being way better than he actually is, can't remember). I was taking a shit at the time, but I looked to see if Dilfer's opinions were in there before flushing. Also, that's why I fucking love that show Audibles. They really get in on guys being bad QBs. Like finally ESPN, say something negative about an NFL players play for once. They'll dump on a bad baseball player, kinda do it with basketball, but god forbid they shit about the bad play of a NFL player. Team? Yes. Specific player, they've barely hinted at it on ESPN. Until Audibles that is. God bless that show, namely Herm Edwards.
I nearly lose my mind any time I see Trent Dilfer on my television screen. The guy is so sanctimonious. You're TRENT. DILFER! More picks than touchdowns, 55.5% completion Trent Dilfer. You'd be selling oranges on the side of the road had you not played on a team that had one of the best defenses of all time. I just don't see where he gets off analyzing quarterback play, let alone criticizing someone.
I didn't think that would happen until Darth Vader picked him up and threw him down a shaft in the Death Star.
Well, they didn't release the cause of death so that's probably what happened, right? Most of the early games don't seem too enticing today. I wonder if the eagles will blow it again. I never thought they were the dream team eagles fans made them out to be, but I was expecting better than this. It turns out having a defense that can't tackle or stop the run is a big a problem. Whoda thunk it? The Monday night game should be pretty good. In a way I almost want Detroit to lose so their fans will come back down to earth. A lot of people in Detroit are already crowning that team, but the reality is this franchise still has a lot to prove. Yes, the future looks bright with all those young stars, but this team has won (I think) one playoff game in the last 50 years. They haven't even been to playoffs in 12 years, and Chicago isn't really a pushover either. The bears have lost to the saints and packers so there's not too much shame in that. Hopefully Fairley will finally play, I want to see what the kid can do.
I feel there are some decent games at the 1pm EST spot. Philly and Buffalo could be interesting. Oakland and Houston could have a decent amount of offense between 2 teams I foresee winning their respective divisions. Tennessee and Pittsburgh could wind up being pretty important too. Tennessee is trying to prove itself as a real contender in the South this season and Pittsburgh is trying to show that they're still relevant and keep their chances against Baltimore alive. A loss won't kill the Steelers, especially given their rather easy schedule to end the season, but they need to start winning games that are against non-shitty teams.
