Has anyone else noticed that kickers are hitting what seems to me to be an extraordinarily high percentage of field goal attempts? League wide, they're hitting 85% prior to this week, and seem to be hitting quite a few from 50+.
Whiskeykowski has always had a monster leg. This is maybe just the first year he's getting his true recognition, what with the record tying kick... But I want to party with that boozehound...
Oh, horseshit. Magic? Seriously? MAGIC? He completed <50% for less than 80 yards in an entire half. He got a second possession on San Diego's side of the field because of a forced fumble and the touchdown was a screen pass that was run the whole way - hardly credit to the quarterback. The only "special" thing that he did was scramble a bit but quarterbacks that scramble like he does aren't going to do so for long. This isn't amateur hour - look at Vick. For all his scrambling, he's not doing so hot this year and those vulnerable running plays end up getting you hurt.
Incidentally, can I suggest that if Orton had played the whole game and completed 40% of his passes for 158 yards, you would have been calling for his head?
Tebow wasn't exactly magic, but he played well considering he has almost no playing experience in the NFL thus far. While people were beating off to gifs of the one out of five ints he threw per year in college they seem to forget he was a much better passer than he was a runner at the collegiate level. I'm not saying the guy will be any good, but he's not playing worse than what you would expect from someone who's played roughly four games total. Bradford has looked like dog shit on another bad team, but nobody questions him being the future of the rams. Personally I think he sucks, even if that offense around him has been terrible too. I maintain that Orton is a decent enough starter still. The broncos problems don't really start at the QB position in my opinion. Now, you want to talk about good quarterbacks? How about this guy Rodgers? Best td to int ratio of any QB to throw a 100 passes into the end zone(and it's not even close). Best passer rating all time for both regular season and post season. The guy is just sick. It was nice to see the defense play a good game as well. Speaking of Rodgers, he has to be the leading candidate for MVP at this point, right? With Peyton out they can't just default the award to him like they love to do.
I'm not gonna swing this Tebow thing one way or another, but I'll say this: if Willis had caught that pass in the end zone last night, we wouldn't be hearing the fucking end of it on ESPN. In all fairness to Tebow, it was a very good throw, given the circumstances. It doesn't mean anything at this point, but it's a start. His other TD was all Moreno's doing, no question. And if there's anyone on that team who should be more scrutinized than Tebow as a potential bust, it's that damned running back. It's nice to see that he can do more than run the ball up the middle for 2 yards per carry.
Worst mistake they made was trading away Hillis. If they got rid of Hillis, think about the option plays with those two big ass white boys and Moreno? Holy hell someone could run some crazy shit with that. I saw those last 10 seconds, and I prayed to fucking God McGahee would not make that catch. People would start freaking out when they saw water stains that looked like Tim Tebow on underpasses...
I love my team. I'm not sure if I'll be buying any stock yet. In a way they're really just asking for a donation since the stocks aren't worth anything. However, having voting rights would be pretty sweet. Ditto for the other perks (albeit minor perks). I don't understand all the fans from other teams buying stock, but to each his own. On another note, I'm curious to see how people feel about the 49ers. They're 4-1 so are they a legit contender? That was a very thorough ass whooping they laid done on Tampa Bay yesterday. And is Alex Smith actually good? Huh... not sure I'm sold on that yet.
Tebow is not good. He's a better option than Orton because he can run around for a while and receivers will eventually get open. But he missed some wide open receivers pretty badly. Most of Orton playing like shit was a result of no one being open to pass to, and he can't move around the way Tebow can. But it's hard to judge either quarterback too much when they're playing on that team.
I'm picking the Bears over the Lions. Their front 4 can be destroyed by Forte and the screen pass. I have no idea who is in the Lion's secondary and Stafford will be shaky looking at the guy that injured him last year. Anyone else got predictions?
Forte is Chicago's offense. I think it's safe to assume the lions have a game plan for him. I'm a bit torn on who I want to win. Naturally it's better if the lions lose so the packers can have a better chance of winning the division. Then again, it keeps making the thanksgiving game that much better every time the lions win. They have a Barry Sanders clip going on right now. Man, I really miss watching that guy play. Edit: Well, that bears offense is as incompetent as ever.
I'm rooting for more teams that are not my team than at any other point in my football-watching history. (Lions, Panthers, Bengals, kinda Bills. Except for the Buffalo fans pissing me off.) Loving the current passing renaissance. Concussion rules are really hamstringing defenses. Whatever, a touchdown or goal-line stand will always be more exciting than an incomplete pass.
The people of Detroit are trying their best to win this game. What's that, 5 or 6 false start penalties by Chicago so far? STAFFOORRDD!!
San Francisco at Detroit is the game of the week next week, and people in Hell finally got some ice water.

Suck for Luck, indeed. This is masterfully done by Elway and Fox. Stick in a terrible quarterback that does just enough to justify playing him over a guy that's in a slump right now. Then lose the next 5 games before the fans get restless and stick Orton and his shattered confidence back in and lose the rest. Best of all, they can say they tried and nobody is going to call foul. Elway gets his Stanford alumni, and a base around which to build his team. Fox gets to jettison a QB he didn't draft in the first place, and Orton gets run out of town. And if by some miracle Tebow performs, the pile of money Denver makes selling Tebow jerseys cushions the blow of not getting Luck. Well played, Denver.
I hope this conspiracy theory isn't serious. Luck has to be the most hyped college player of my life time. The guy still hasn't played a snap in the league, and at this point I almost hope he's a bust just so I can see every eat crow only to say two years later it was obvious his style wouldn't work in the NFL just like they've been doing with Reggie Bush.
