I do. That woman is bat shit insane. No one, and I mean no one who understands football would take Suh over Sanders. In my opinion he's the best player of all time and certainly the best I've ever seen (too young to have watched Jim Brown). Barry was the offense and what he did behind an offensive line that terrible is nothing short of incredible. The guy rushed for the most negative yards in history because he had to bust his ass to make a play every time he touched the ball. The lions aren't winning now just because of Suh, and it's certainly not only on him for turning the franchise around. Honestly, is Suh even the best player on his team? If I'm a lions fan I would let him go before Calvin Johnson, or Stafford for that matter. The guy has been really good, but saying he's more important than the best running back to ever play at this point, especially in his second year, all the while babbling about intangible leadership qualities is the ultimate fail.
Its Jemele Hill. You would be wise to stop reading as soon as you soon her name on the byline. I'm surprised she didn't call Sanders "too white" in order to pull her beloved race card.
Anyone catch the Aaron Rodgers segment on E:60 last night? It was very impressive. I hadn't realized how good he was at football growing up, even at a very early age. Same goes for the swagger he brought with it. I can't find a link for it on their page, though. The segment after that was good also, even though it had a somber first half. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7089072
Hmmm... so maybe there is a reason to watch this game. What do you guys think of the Curry trade? That guy plummeted fast. I think the raiders are getting a good deal for moderately low risk, but he's not looking like the player was supposed to be.
"Hey Tim, you get to be our starting QB. By the way, we are trying to deal your best receiver." Brandon Lloyd being shopped What do you guys make of this?
The Vikings better be among one of the "three or four" teams expressing interest. Their receiving core is a prime weakness.
Are you guys forgetting that Lloyd's career-high in receiving yards prior to last year was 733, way back in 2005? Or that, from '06-'09 he had just 2 receiving TDs in that 4-year span? Also, last year was the first season in which he caught more than 50 passes, since joining the league way back in 2003. Denver won't miss him, I promise you. With the way Eric Decker's been playing, I'd be hard-pressed to say that Lloyd's the best WR on his own team. Keep in mind: he's already 30, and has just one great season on his resume. Denver's selling high, nothing more. Also: in their lone win this year, Lloyd didn't even play. As for the Aaron Curry trade, I thought this writeup on ESPN this morning said a lot:
I really hope the panthers make some sort of play for Lloyd. He is better than any other wide receiver they have on the roster, aside from the beast Steve Smith. I'm tired of watching Legadu Nannee (Sp?) drop everything that is thrown at him.
Newton could definitely use a #2 WR to draw those double-teams away from Steve Smith. In spite of those two great TEs at his disposal, Newton needs someone more reliable than Naanee and Brandon LaFell to run deep. Those are the only other 2 WRs on their roster who have caught a pass this year, and Jonathan Stewart has more receptions than either of them.
I'm 98% sure that Michael Clarke Duncan's inspiration for his role in The Green Mile was Aaron Curry. Curry has unreal strength and speed for a guy his size but his head is full of rocks. If you watched the Giants/Seahawks game last week, Curry was continually out of position in coverage. He can't rush the passer. It's just maddening to see a guy that physically gifted being unable to put it together mentally. It's even worse because he clearly puts in the effort. I feel bad for him.
This is what surprises me, because among all of the things people loved about him, his intangibles were right up there with size, strength, speed, coverage, etc. His intelligence for the game, as far as I know, was never a point of concern. The only - and I mean the ONLY - weakness I ever heard about Curry coming out of college was his inability to rush the passer. Everything else was considered top-notch.
Agreed. A big part of Denver's problem is that Lloyd is their best receiver. He wouldn't start for a lot of teams, but McDaniels seemed to think that he could be just like the Patriots by putting together a roster loaded with mediocrity. If they could manage to get a third-rounder for Lloyd, I'd consider it a big win.
Wouldn't start for a lot of teams? Let's not push it. A few pages back I was talking about he wasn't particularly great when I was defending Orton, pointing out the stats Rob did, but he will be a #2 on most teams. I guess Rob's right and they are just selling high, but the dude has made some sick catches. He might not be the elite receiver his numbers from last season say he is, but the guy can produce. If he goes for less than a third rounder I'll be shocked. I agree that Curry isn't what he was supposed to be, but I maintain that he has good upside and I think it's a smart trade for the raiders. It's not like they're fucking themselves over too bad if he continues to flop.
Nice to see the packers defense coming together. Detroit is actually very fun to watch. The packers and lions may have the next great rivalry of the 2010s. Both teams have very young stars, and it could be comparable to the pats/colts of the decade before.
I was actually thinking about this today and I can't see it happening until the days surrounding the draft.
