Basically...dumbest fucking question. Good thing the guy had the rest of the story "Let's not forget Tim Tebow will lose a game and NOT go on a bender. He'll lose a game and inspire cancer survivors." Really? People hate this guy? I can't hate him for the media being on his ball hairs. Especially when he does so much good shit. I just can't. I can hope defenses play well against him, but I can't bash Tebow.

I'm a little sick of the NFL player's being judged by the media as rapists, televangelists or criminals. It's a game, leave it at that and let the league and the courts deal with the players. Stop feeding into it before the NFL turns into the WWE.

What are the odds that Romeo Crennel stays on at KC for next year? Beating the undefeated Super Bowl champs made a damned big statement. He was not great at Cleveland, but who has been? Also, some blogger on Yahoo sports has christened him the Iron Teddy Bear. I will piss myself if I hear Bill Cowher call him that in a televised event.

The problem is not that Tebow is or isn't any particular thing. It's that he was adopted by the wrong kind of fans: the "Praize Jaysus" crowd that wouldn't pay attention to him otherwise. If he wasn't the youth pastor's wet dream, he wouldn't get the attention he did and he likely would have been yanked after earning a QB rating in the 40's like anyone else. Since the most offendable group of people on Earth have declared Tebow "God's QB" and he continues to do pious shit on camera, on the field, we will continue to wish he would go away. Cam Newton has better stats, Andy Dalton has won as many games, Tebow has the mob and a few clutch finishes.

Personally, I think he has had the Sandy Koufax effect on his teammates, he is a serious athletic talent, humble enough to take instruction and improve, and damned hard for a defense to read and prepare for. I'm more concerned that Fox and Elway put their weight behind the kid and get a serious QB coach that can develop him into a legit threat. If the Broncos make any sort of splash in the playoffs, they would be foolish not to.

Dude, life doesn't work like that. The media isn't doing the judging, they're doing the reporting. The players are the ones killing dogs, raping women, getting caught making massive drug deals, or killing people (Oh, Ray Lewis, some of us still remember).

There is a simple reality at play: there are hundreds of thousands of kids who want to play in the NFL one day, and they look up to those players. Those players have that responsibility. It comes with being a professional athlete and making professional athlete money. I know a lot of them like to pretend that they have no such responsibility to be role models, but it isn't as if we're asking anything unreasonable. "Hey, guys, how about NOT break the law?" Crazy, right? We're not asking anything unreasonable of these players when it comes to being a role model.

Seriously, Hurd was caught making million dollar coke deals, and why? Was his $4million contract to play all of about 10 snaps a week not enough? Roethlesberger put himself in really, really stupid situations, and deserved the scrutiny that he got. Vick, Plaxico, Ray Lewis, and the rest are all right back in the league, aren't they? At this point, they're punchlines, and they brought it on themselves.

Or he could be referring to this incident where Harrison tackled a fan in Cleveland who came onto the field.

    But what do I know?

I do know that was an incredibly pitiful game from the Pittsburgh offense. The team was given a golden opportunity where the Chargers beating Baltimore yesterday, and they squandered it. The defense didn't look very good either (almost no pressure on Smith), but they played three and a half decent quarters. Just like that they went from a potential 1 seed to a rather certain 5th. Oh well.

Wait, where is the racial slur for Big Ben?

People's role models need to be their parents. Not entertainers. Owners pay players millions of dollars, because owners make billions off them. There is nowhere in life/the contract that says "You get paid over 100k, and you decided to play on TV, so you have to be a rolemodel." If kids want to be in the NFL, they should model their play after the players, and model everything else after their parents.

Now should they break the law? No, they shouldn't, ever. Should ESPN cover it all as much as they do and should sports writers get up on high horses to cast down righteous judgement down on them in 5000 words? No. They run it into the ground. More of a focus on the bad, and not on the good in terms of the charity that goes on. How the hell did I just hear that Braylon Edwards gave out a million to 100 kids for college a year after he got intot he league but I know ALL about his exploits? How come we don't hear about Jay Cutler teaching in Africa? A lot of this is on the media and what they cover. They're the gatekeepers of a lot of information still.

I think you missed the spirit of his post. You're saying that we should never forgive players for [insert offense here]; what he said was that those non-sports issues shouldn't be such a prominent issue in sports media. Why the hell did I turn on ESPN the other night and get 2 minutes of graphic quotes from the Sandusky trial? That has fuck-all to do with sports.

Sports media ought to focus on statistics, injuries, roster/coaching changes, and the occasional feel-good story about a player's rise to the top. Leave the negative peripherals alone. At the very least, they need to be more tactful about it. Roethlisberger gets charged with rape? Mention it once during a pregame show, then never speak of it again.

All it gets us is a nation full of armchair judges, who pretend to know whether players are guilty or innocent (usually, they're assumed guilty) without having any personal involvement in the investigations. Stick to telling me why you think Sabastian Janikowski should be MVP or something.

What an abysmal game. Between the lights, stupid fans and FG after FG after FG.....and, as much as I cannot stand Pitt, why in the fuck would he leave an obviously broken QB in that game? They're already in why risk it?

Aaron Rodgers has spoiled you too much. This league used to praise the likes of this year's 49ers and their low-scoring affairs.

Oh, and Aldon Smith is retarded-good. As in, I think he literally has what my college roommate called "retard strength." He pretty much locked up defensive ROY last night.

lolwut? It's been mostly sealed up since Week 4 or so for Von Miller. Smith is good, but even the most optimistic reporters are saying that last night "gave him a shot" at winning the award.

On what grounds? Smith plays for a better defense, possibly a more difficult position, and statistically is just as good as Miller. Last night was also his 4th multi-sack game of the season, as he flirts with the rookie record.

I haven't seen Miller play much, so I'm admittedly ill-informed when it comes to actually watching him play, but I'm genuinely curious what the reasoning is for why he's such a lock to win it.

Wait... so the Broncos fan is the one that hasn't seen Von Miller play?

I've seen him play, but sparingly. I've seen more fucking Jaguars games this year than I have Broncos.

TV distribution doesn't favor me, living out in Panther country. And, since nobody expected Denver to win more than 2 games this year, they've only been in two big TV games: the opening MNF game against Oakland, and this week vs. NE.

It's called the internet. They may be shitty, but you get most of the game in standard definition with some delays here and there. Watched many a Patriots game this way, they've been getting so much screen-time in the midwest though.

Miller is regarded as being a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate. He has almost as many sacks as Smith while having twice as many tackles and playing a larger run support/coverage role. Prior to this week, Miller actually had more sacks. He's also regarded by some as being the team leader on defense.

Smith might have played himself into the conversation on Monday night, but before that it was a shoe-in.

Nope, won't happen, unless they completely revamp and get rid of Jerry Angelo, too.

There is a very simple problem with the Bears: Their owners are completely and totally satisfied if the team goes 8-8, almost makes the playoffs, and sells out every home game. They're notoriously cheap as fuck. That said, they're completely satisfied with Lovie given his one Superbowl appearance and their NFC title game appearance last year. Now, whether they're satisfied with Angelo is another story. Angelo is the one that traded away the world to get Cutler, and Angelo is the one that seems completely and totally incapable of drafting a decent offensive player that isn't named 'Hester.' They're an old team, that desperately needs to get younger and better, especially at the offensive line.

I think about how absolutely great that team would be with even a moderately better offensive line, and they'd be scary. Cutler would have more time to find his receivers (and maybe he wouldn't have been beaten like a red-headed step-child), and Forte would've had an even easier time running before his knee was imploded. I honestly think a really good offensive line was the one thing standing between them and competing with the Packers for the NFC North and the NFC title again. Well, that and a rash of ungodly injuries (Cutler, Forte, Knox).

It's unclear that Hester qualifies as a "decent offensive player."

But he did get some steals in the draft with Forte and Knox.

Anybody hear the outcome of that hit where he got folded in the wrong direction? Is he O.K.?

He's on I.R. with a fractured vertebrae. He's ok and should be back full strength next season. That hit he took was gag inducing.

Speaking of gag inducing, here's to hoping Detroit sucks massive amounts of cock.
