Looks like Matt Barkley is going to stay in school. Smart move. He has a great chance to be the #1 Qb next year. Plus, USC can go to a bowl game next year. This really screws the Dolphins in the draft next year. Any chance Indy is up for a Ricky Williams/Hershcel Walker type trade for the #1 pick?
How did Houston piss this game away? 4th and 2, 2:00 to go, up by 1, and you have Ben Tate and Arian Foster to get you two yards. Field Goal? Really? How the fuck does a field goal help you? God, what a stunning lack of balls.
Are they trying to shit their 1st round pick away? What the fuck is going on with Indy? Seriously you want to win the last 3 games? Are they retarded? I don't care what the players want at this point, you tell them to take their checks and shut up. Insanity. *Might be pissed his fantasy defense Texans could have done better.
The players were celebrating on the field and the fans all had John Elway face like "Oh fuck...." Indy with the #1 pick has options - draft Luck or stick with Manning and stock pile a bunch of picks to rebuild the team. Indy with the #2 pick has no options. With Barkley out, it's going to be a bidding war for the #1 pick. If Carson Palmer went for (2) 1st rd picks, I say Luck is (3) 1st rd picks plus.
Houston called a really poor game offensively. I can understand wanting to protect your rookie quarterback, but wouldn't you also want to give him the opportunity to show what he can do? They never challenged the colts secondary at all, which is strange given how shitty it is. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to let the Rook get some confidence in his arm. Instead they went ultra conservative, and took it in the ass. It's not like their playoff hopes are in danger. I think I would want to know exactly what I had under centre going into the playoffs, when they are going to HAVE to play a complete game. Also, there were a bunch of technically correct but bullshit calls in that game. The 2 roughing the passers on Orlovsky were weak, and the Unnecessary roughness on Bethea was weak aswell.
Them being cheap isn't completely true. If you look at their recent free agent signings, especially last year, they aren't afraid to spend money. The McCaskeys problems are their trust in people to run the front office that have no idea what they are doing. Ted Phillips (team president) is an accountant, not a football guy, but is a great friend to the McCaskeys, so they leave him in a position he is over his head in. That trickles down into him trusting Jerry Angelo who has shown a complete inability to field a complete team. Lovie has stuck around cause the team's performance hasn't been "that" bad to the point where an owner would fire him. The problem that all Bears fans realize is how close this organization is to fielding top 5 teams every year, and how the window for some great players is closing (Urlacher, to a lesser extent Peppers). And I don't think Lovie is all that good of a coach. I think he is a good defensive mind, but he has shown a complete inability to control Martz when Martz is being a moron (completely overloaded running or passing) or articulate the team's personnel needs. He is also so completely passive which doesn't really motivate a team or a fanbase, especially in the midst of turmoil. For a team to fall apart this completely based off of two injuries falls completely on the GM and the coach for not having a better, deeper team. I hope heads will roll as a result, but I feel injuries will be the scapegoat and nothing will change for next year. The one silver lining to it all is people are realizing just how valuable Cutler is. I've been a big defender of his for awhile, as people bashed him repeatedly, and now they are seeing just how impressive he was in the face of everything. This team started to roll when he told Martz to fuck himself and started doing more on his own.
I can't believe I'm rooting for the Jets*, but I want my Cowboys in the playoffs. Going to a restaurant/bar with the family to watch the Cowboys game soon(no cable). *Seriously, I really, really, hate the Jets. Goddamn NFC East standings.
Oh, what a glorious thing to watch Tebow get his ass handed to him in person. This looked like a Bills team that was 5-0.
I don't get the Tebow hate. To me he is an insanely shitty QB who through some bizarre hand of fate went on a streak. I genuinely wanted it to keep going all the way for nothing more than the joy of absurdity, the greatest joy there is in life.
I would really love to see Kyle Orton knock Denver out of the playoffs. The fan reaction shots would be priceless.
Frankly, I don't hate Tebow. What I enjoy is this shutting up the media and fans who dangle from his pubes. Plus, I'm a Bills fan, so sitting in their stadium and watching the opposing team get pasted is why you go to games.
I feel a need to clarify this: The vast, vast majority of the hate isn't because of Tim Tebow. Tebow says pretty much all the right things and tends to come off as a humble and decent guy, albeit very "in your face" about how much he loves his god (to quote Charlie Kelley, I think he is "Gay for God"). That said, the hate comes from a pure, unadulterated hatred for his fans. His fans are the reason he is a starter in the NFL, and his fans are the reason people bash him so consistently. If the fans hadn't been screaming for Tebow as soon as the season started, he'd still be 3rd string, because Elway sure as shit didn't like the guy's skill set. However, because the fans were screaming for him, the Broncos had no choice but to give in or potentially losing some of their fan base. Now, they're content to ride the wave. The Broncos know they have something: win or lose, they're going to sell out games for the foreseeable future because of Tebow's massive and motivated fan base. Tebow could lose every single game for the next three seasons and they'd still sell out every game. The other problem is that Tebow plays one good quarter of football per game, and his fans treat him as if he is the next Tom Brady or Joe Montana. Tebow isn't good enough to carry Tom Brady's sweaty jock, and Brady wasn't even a starter in college, where Tebow made his name. Yet, if you listen to Tebow fans, they all hail him as the single greatest thing in the history of football, even though they clearly know nothing of football. The problem is that their love of Tebow has nothing to do with his football skill, it is purely because of his religion. He has an entire fan base that loves him because he is religious, and who will immediately scream at the top of their lungs that anyone who bashes Tebow does so because of Tebow's religion. It isn't because he tends to be bad at football, it is because he is religious. The sad reality is, in a roundabout way, they are right. I want Tebow to go away so his fans will go away. His massive fan base (that the media loves to play to) only exists because of his religion. Therefore, in a strange way, I want Tebow to go away because of his religion. Harsh, but true, reality.
Looks like we're going to get to see history in the second half. Brees needs only 75 yards to break Marino's record and the only way that's not happening is if he gets injured. He may have fought his way into the MVP discussion. I think Rodgers should and still will win it, but what a year Brees has had.
Does anyone remember seeing a Saints jersey on anyone, anywhere pre-2004? Because neither I nor any of my friends have...
