WTF? Why this obsession with hating Orton? Your quarterback threw for 300 yards and a TD. Don't you think there are other places that you guys need to shore up before tossing a completely unproven rookie into the mix? You had <50 yards of total rushing.
This. What us poor Denver fans are seeing is the hangover from the McDaniels era. Let's not forget, the Broncos had a pretty good QB, who had the ability to be a great QB with some work. As much as I hated Shanahan, Denver had one of the most prolific offenses in the league - but the defense was terrible. Tebow was not, is not, and will not ever be a viable option. He clearly does not have the tools to be a winning NFL QB. My suggestion: find a team with some morons who seem to be taken with Tebow as much as some Denver fans are (and the sad thing is no one is really taken with him, it's just us Denver fans are so desperate for a decent team again, some of them have gone over the edge and believe ANY change will improve the team) and trade him before Denver plays him and everyone else finds out that he's not cut out for it. And John Fox is not the answer. I hate to say this, but we need Parcells to come in and rebuild this team.
Well...a Billboard in Denver is like $50 so....yeah. Josh McDaniel's completely fucked that team up by getting rid of Brandon Marshall. Who the fuck does Orton really have to throw it to? He doesn't even have a real RB. Why don't teams understand they need a bruiser back and a fancy back. You can win with only a bruiser back, but you can't with a fancy back, which Moreno is. What is he? 150 lbs? Kyle Orton has the skills and abilities to win football games in the National Football League (sorry, I had to.) He just has shit around him. Shit, shit, shit. Not to dump on my own part there but, most of those 300 yards did come in garbage time. Yeah, but still...
FOR SURE. You know what, just put Tebow in. If this fan base is so naive they actually think Tebow is going to save their shitty franchise, I say go for it. It's not like getting out rushed 190 to 38 yards had anything to do with the loss. Let's not blame the defense for failing to stop the run on the last drive when you are 100% sure the raiders are going to pound the ball. Let's not tip our hat to Janikowski for nailing a record setting fg that was the difference in the final score. Last season Orton was one of the only bright spots on this team. Losing Cutler has nothing to do with the broncos' failures. That trade was a fucking steal. Cutler has been at best serviceable in Chicago and Orton's numbers have been by far superior since the trade. Maybe Cutler has more raw talent, but he's not the reason the bears are winning and the broncos are losing. Giving up Marshall is what hurt this team and with him Orton would be doing even better. To be honest I don't even know if Tebow would be all that bad, but he's done nothing, zilch, zero to show he's a better player than Orton. Edit: I wouldn't call those yards at the end of the game garbage time. If the defense could have gotten a stop and got the ball back Denver could have won that game outright, or sent it into overtime.
The defense didn't fumble on a potential go ahead drive with a wide open te crossing the middle. The running game didn't throw an int underneath when Lloyd was open over the top for a touchdown and the defense didn't go 0fer in the redzone until the last drive. Btw, Tebow in the redzone? 75% touchdown rate. So, yes, based on previous evidence I feel confident in saying that Tebow would have won that game.
The problem with that (besides the fact that it's a 3 game sample) is the Broncos would not make it to the red zone with Tebow at the helm. Have you seen him attempt to go through his progressions? He's lucky if he makes it past his first read. Orton didn't play well, but he was not the sole reason for the loss either. Even more importantly, he's the best QB on that roster currently. So unless they go 1-7 or 2-6, they are going to keep starting Orton. Now if you want to talk deficiencies, how bout the interior D-line, how bout FB/TE blocking on running plays, O-line penalties, Moreno being impatient and picking the wrong hole, etc... If the Broncos can fix those issues and they still lose, then maybe the fan base can start calling for Orton to be benched with some credibility. However, don't cry when they put in Brady Quinn at that point and not the supposed savior of the franchise.
Except they did and they have. Look, I'm not anointing him the savior. I just know Orton isn't taking us anywhere.
They kept showing that fumble on ESPN, and I turned the game off before halftime, but wasn't it pouring during the game? The cameras don't really show how hard it's raining most of the time, but I remember seeing Champ Bailey slip and fall down at least twice in the first half.
Yep, and in his next best season to that he caught only half that many yards. He broke 700 yards once and 500 yards another time. Lloyd has actually been nothing his entire career until he had Orton throwing to him. Now, I'm not actually giving Orton all the credit there, but having Marshall on this offense would help a lot, and he's way better and younger than Lloyd, regardless of what happened last season. My prediction for the season is that Tebow actually does play. It's true Orton isn't taking this team anywhere, but that's only because you could put any QB on this team and they wouldn't make the playoffs. I hope Orton gets to play for another team. The guy has eaten way too much shit while playing like an above average QB.This is just a typical example of stupid fans seeing their team failing and automatically blaming the guy at the helm.
Let's not devolve this conversation into comparing one high-profile college QB to another. One of them is an excellent playmaker and team leader, is very mobile and charismatic...the other is some white guy. In other, non-Tebow news, how happy must Ryan Fitzpatrick be at making the front of ESPN's NFL page? Probably the only other time he's done that was when he lit up the Texans in his debut.
God. Jacksonville is TERRIBLE. They appear to be in a race to the bottom for worst team in the league with Indy. The AFC South is shaping up to be one of the worst divisions ever. Two terrible teams, one bad one, and one mediocre one. It's making last year's NFC West seem respectable. If the Texans don't win the division, not only should Gary Kubiak be fired, he should never be allowed to work in football ever again.
This Redskins-Cardinals game is garbage. Shocker of the week, I know. Can't wait for Pats-Chargers at 4:15.

Steelers have to have the biggest point swing between 2 games in history. From -28 to +24, that's a 52 point swing. Also, Cam Newton. 3 interceptions but damn, he is still keeping them in the game against Green Bay. Keeps making big plays against one of the best defenses in the league. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.205316,-79.956681

So fuckin upset with the 49ers right now. 10 point 4th quarter lead squandered to a quarterback with injured ribs.
