Tuna has to be 70 or so right? Assuming he cares about such things if he comes back does his HOF eligibility stop and reset to 5 years?

Because Parcells can coach a year and then walk away no worse for wear.

Gruden doesnt want to step in that pile of shit down there where he has no control.

    Now if they fire Payton....

As we all wait with bated breath over what is going to happen with the Saints coaching gig.

Master Redface plans on signing an extention with his team.

Did San Francisco get better bringing in Brandon Jacobs? Way to give Alex Smith less work to do.

I hate to say it, because I love Drew Brees and consider the Saints one of the teams I enjoy watching, but I think the Saints are absolutely fucked this year. Losing two 2nd round draft picks won't kill them, but that was Sean Payton's offense through and through, and not having his input for an entire season is going to really hurt them. Brees is still awesome, and they still have a ton of offensive weapons, but their defense has been suspect for years, and if their offense regresses in any way (which it likely will without Payton there calling plays), their defense isn't good enough to pick up the slack. I think they compete for a wild card spot, but in the end, miss out on it to one team from the NFC North (Bears or Lions) and one from the NFC East (Cowboys, Giants, or Eagles, depending on who wins the division). I just think the NFC South is going to be really tough to win against an improving Cam Newton-led Panthers team and a strong Falcons team. Luckily, they do get to destroy Tampa Bay twice a year, those should be good ego boosts.

I'm waiting to see the Bears draft strategy this year. In previous years under the old GM, Jerry Angelo, they couldn't draft offensive players to save their lives (with the notable exceptions of Matt Forte and Devin Hester, who I'd argue isn't a good offensive player but an amazing Special Teams player). Jerry Angelo also never gave the position of WR much thought, and always thought he'd get by with crap players at the position because the Bears are known as a "run first" team. Now, Emery seems to put more value at WR, and if he can fix the offensive line and keep Cutler upright long enough to complete some passes, their offense should improve enough to make them competitive. Their defense is aging, but still has a couple of good years left in it. I'm really hoping they focus on the offensive line in the draft, so they can get younger and better at that position.

Now, when it comes to suspensions and all this technology, I find it hard Payton won't be able get notes to someone. If mean if the Harboughs can give game tape to their dad, Payton has to be able to get something and slip some notes back. I find it impossible that suspended coaches/players don't talk to their team. I can understand not being in the facilities, but getting around commnucation blocks is all too easy. How would you get caught unless someone snitches?

Sure he could, but a few things:

    1) The consequences if he is caught would be astronomical. We're talking being perma-banned from the league, and I just don't think Payton wants to risk that. Given the fact that any communication he makes would be traceable (whether it be email, text, phone calls, etc), he can't possibly take that risk. He can't meet face to face with players because that would (obviously) look really, really bad, so any communication he tried would be via methods that can be easily traced back to him.

    2) Payton's strength is play calling on Sundays, and this is something he will be completely and totally unable to do. He won't be there to help adjust the game plan at half time, he won't be there to make crucial decisions about challenges, plays, and how to handle difficult situations. He won't be there to manage the clock. Even if he could communicate during the week somehow, not being able to communicate on Sundays would make his input much less valuable.

    3) Again, the risk is entirely too high. I'm putting this twice because it is just that important. If you think for a minute that Goodell wouldn't ban Payton from the NFL indefinitely if he violated the terms of his suspension, then you haven't been paying attention to Roger Goodell. His ego is way to big to let someone try to circumvent his will. None of this takes into account the consequences for his team and franchise. Anyone who contacts Payton would also face major suspensions and fines. If the GM or the front office were in on it? The shitstorm would be so absolutely epic that it would rip the Saints apart. Goodell would do everything in his power to send the Saints franchise back to the dark ages.

In conclusion: No way Payton is stupid enough to try to circumvent this suspension, and anyone on the Saints franchise would be insane to try it, given the potential consequences. The Saints will be under a microscope.

I'm not sure how much Jacobs gives you when your lead back is Frank Gore. Depth, sure, but they're not very complimentary players.

True, but when we're talking about Mr. Gore depth is paramount.

A work horse can only work so much. Giving Gore a breather every once in a while can't hurt.

I will be interested to see how effective Jacobs is when he is supplementing a big, hard running back, as opposed to the smaller, change of pace back that he has had for his entire career (though Bradshaw does run tough).

It will be interesting to see how the dual heavy approach works as opposed to the heavy/light approach every else seems to take. Then again, I don't give a fuck about SF. Its pretty fucked up when their most exciting player is their TE and the best player(s) to watch is their LB core.

Dear Patriots, please trade up and get Trent Richardson. Please?

I'll take "things that aren't happening" for $500, Alex.

Adding Benson is much more likely.

With Vereen, Ridley and Woodhead at RB and two FB signings, I wouldn't be surprised if they hold off on Benson. I was actually hoping they made a play on Michael Bush.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was hoping they would have made a play. I was bemoaning the fact they never got into the sweepstakes, hence the "was".

Maybe they can trade off all those miscellaneous parts... I hate the RB by committee shit. Trent Richardson would be the perfect compliment to Brady.

I think picks 3-10 in this year's draft are gonna be interesting.

A lot hinges on what Cleveland decides to do at #4:

Richardson? Best position player in the draft/biggest impact as a rookie IMO.

Blackmon? Best WR in the draft, but not a dominant alphadog like Fitzgerald or Megatron.

Tannehill? No such thing as too high if he works out. If not, then youve set yourself back a few years.

Personally, I would take Richardson and then a QB with their 2nd pick in the 1st rd.

The other big pick is #7. Jax wants out and there will be teams that want to jump ahead of Miami if Tannehill is available. Could even be Cleveland moving back up. Do the Dolphins like Tannehill that much, or is it a smoke screen? Like Flynn, nobody has more intel on Tannehill than the Dolphins because of Sherman.

The new rookie wage scale has made the draft more unpredictable than ever. Dont have to worry about $40million guarantees that can cripple a franchise.

Richardson is a faster version of Mark Ingram, but he got a lot of yards after contact. I just don't see him running over linebackers like he did in college. Blackmon reminds me a bit of Anquan Boldin but with good body control on sideline routes. His only problem I see is that he's "only" about 6', so he might have a harder time on jump balls. Where the hell did Tannehill come from? Wasn't he a wide receiver for a while? I just don't see it.
If I was the Vikes or the Browns I'd be trying my hardest to trade away the pick. Yes, the Vikes can get Kalil, but I'd be looking for more value from the #3 pick. Although if he exceeds expectations and turns into Tony Boselli 2.0 then he's well worth it. I think it would be interesting if the Browns said fuck it and took Claiborne. Claiborne and Haden at CB? You're set for the next 8 years.

Nike released the new NFL Uniforms today. I haven't found one decent source to get a good look, but they can all be summarized as "The same, but skin tight."

The Worldwide Leader had a shitty picture up earlier, but I agree, same shit just skin tight.

Media is trying to hype this but I don't see the point.
