Packers O-line getting absolutely destroyed; it's not even halftime yet and Rodgers has been sacked 7 times. Edit: Make that 8 times. Edit #2: Actually Rodgers is holding on to the ball way too long, so it's not all on the O-line.
Wow. Well, everyone was waiting for the scab refs to fuck some team over, and it looks like the Pack just took it in the ass.
Speaking of terrible calls and Shields. That was the WORST call ever. I HATE HATE HATE the Packers and will tell you they got fucking jobbed. This is absolutely insane.
Which one? The PI call where Rice basically jumped on Shields' back to prevent a possible INT but Shields got called for PI? Or the last play of the game?
Its gotten to the point now that your offense should be based on just throwing the ball downfield and waiting for a PI call. What else can a defender do?
Someone needs to get in touch with SheGirl immediately. I fear for her safety or the safety of those around her.
As people are pointing out over Twitter: Simultaneous possession is awarded to the offense and Only the onfield refs are replacements. The replay official is a regular employee.
Because random people on Twitter know more than people who were head coaches and refs in the NFL. And the replay official doesn't review the play, the replacement refs on the field do.
Simultaneous being the operative word. If they both go up and catch it at the same time, it goes to the offense. However, Jennings had the ball in his hands and brought it in while Tate only had one hand on it, so Jennings caught it first then Tate came in to fight him for it.
Nothing the replay officials can do since they're not allowed to determine who actually had possession; just that the ball was caught inbounds and didn't hit the ground.
From where the officials were standing they probably weren't able to see that Jennings had possession first, only that by the time they got to Tate & Jennings on the ground Tate had enough of the ball to get tiebreaker possession. The worse mistake in my opinion was the no-call on Tate's blatant pushoff on Shields, especially since on of the officials was in perfect position to see that.
I will say this, controversy aside, the Seahawk defense played their hearts out. Wilson is clearly a rookie, but I think he's shown enough flashes that Seattle should be very excited for the future. It makes me hate the controversy because the way they played, if they play this game 10 times they might win half the time legit and then people are looking at them as a team that has a very real chance to make the playoffs.
Ive never heard the announcers be so unequivocally against a call. I thought Steve Young was about to cry there fretting over it.
The officials could clearly see the play, watch the replay the 8 billion times you will get the chance this week. Or go to espn homepage right now. Also, when they went to the ground there is no way it was close. At no point during the play was it debatable who had possession. I was at the bar with seahawks fans and they thought it was the worst call they had ever seen. Getting it wrong on the field is pretty bad. After review? I'm going to bed before I break something.
As if people didn't hate him enough, its hard to be more smug about a sham victory than Pete Carroll was. Russell Wilson, with a shit eating grin, basically says "I knew the TD would stand cause these refs are a joke." Unreal.
