All I have to say is WHEEEEEEEEEEEW. That was way too close for comfort. And why in the fuck would McCarthy decide to go for it on 4th down, IN THE FIRST HALF (QUATER?? I can't remember I was blinded with rage)??? They looked like the Ducks for God sake. And.. Dear Mr Crosby, Please find where ever it is you have stuck your head, pull it back out and get your fucking brain back on the field. Seriously? What in the fuck were you doing? You hook a long on, get the TO call to try it again then you hook it the other way totally over compensating. GAAAAH!!!! You missed a 38 yarder!!! 38 fucking yards!!! You either need to get laid, get drunk or...Oh! I know!!! GET YOUR GAME BACK. Happy Holidays, shegirl
Jesus Christ, the Bears offense is shit. I'm starting to think Cutler deserves a medal just for keeping it afloat.
Except to reveal how terrible a playcaller Mike Tice is. He's been a coach for over 15 years and never was an OC. So I'm confused as to why you promote the couch of the worst performing unit on the team to the OC role when it opens up. I mean, its no wonder Cutler gets pissed at him, I'm beginning to think Cutler calls alot of plays at the line. You have one of the most dynamic backs in the league, why keep running him into the teeth of one of the best rush D's in the NFL? His playcalling has been unimaginative at best all year, and without Cutler, its fucking anemic. Tirico's quote at the end of the half make me so pissed. ""Mike Tice told us Jason Campbell is a rhythm quarterback, so he wanted to get him in a rhythm." Which he proceeded to do by having him only throw 8 times in the half, 3 of which were quick short, worthless passes at the end of the half. This game is already over. And don't get all smug D26, playing without Cutler doesn't go to prove what a negative nancy seer you think you are.
I'm not a negative nancy seer. I am a very good seer who has (thus far) accurately predicted the Bears season based on what I knew they were. A good, but not great, team. I was simply trying to temper expectations that this Bears team was somehow worthy of the hype they were receiving at the time by reminding people they'd played a tremendously easy schedule, and that they'd been blown out by a HUGE margin against the Packers. Of course, if you come out and TELL people the obvious, they call you a 'negative nancy,' or what the fuck ever. I'll continue to be smug until the Bears prove that they are as good as everyone was saying they were, or prove my predictions wrong. Until then, to quote Dennis Green: "They are who we thought they were."
Looking ahead, I really don't want to watch an angry Bears defense destroy my team next week. I'm cringing already.
A "HUGE" margin? Come on, the lost by 2 scores and one of them was a fake FG. That game was ugly, and the offense looked terrible, but it wasn't a blow out. In fact, it showed how tough the defense is. And they lost by 7 against one of the best teams in football last week despite playing the second half with a backup QB and uncharacteristic turnovers. Saying that you called the "obvious" is bullshit. Unless its also obvious that Cutler was going to be hurt against Houston and SF and that Colin Kapernick was going to be a foolishly efficient QB. I'll say right here though, I'll bet any stakes that they do not drop back to back games against Seattle and Minnesota like you claim.
Well, he basically has the most simplistic prediction I've ever seen. The bears are going to beat every bad team and lose to every decent team.
I did call the obvious. I called that they would beat the teams they are supposed to beat and struggle against any even remotely elite teams. Anyone who didn't see the Bears glaring weaknesses was ignoring them for the hype. After that Tennessee game, they were being compared to the '85 Bears, and being hyped as potentially the best team in the NFL. I get called negative because I said they're not. They are not the best team in the NFL. They are (potentially) not even the best team in their division. They are a team with a strong defense (that is currently getting destroyed by a guy in his first NFL start, go figure) and some good skill players with some glaring weaknesses that the 49ers are currently exploiting (Campbell has been sacked 4 times so far). Would Cutler make a difference? Of course he would, the game would be more competitive with him in there. However, you getting pissy with me because I said the Bears would lose this game (and they will) before Cutler got hurt, and then Cutler getting hurt somehow negates my prediction? I call bullshit. Again, you're getting weirdly defensive about this whole thing. I never said "OH MY GOD THE BEARS SUCK! THEY'RE FUCKING AWFUL!" I, once again (because apparently I have to repeat this over and over because it is ignored over and over), simply stated that the Bears are NOT as good as they were being hyped to be. They are a good team. They are a 10 win, wild card playoff (maybe, depends on the NFC) team. They are not the best in the NFL, they are no where close to as good as they were being hyped too, and they will not win a Superbowl. And Kampf... pretty much, yeah. That's exactly what I've been saying for weeks. They'll beat up bad teams and lose to good ones. It wasn't like it was some secret.
Ive never thought they were a Super Bowl team. You can't win a Super Bowl with a porous offensive line and a terrible offensive braintrust. And outside of Chicago sports media, which we all know is about inflaming people good or bad, people weren't hyping them as the 85 Bears, but rather a sneaky good team, who may be better than people think (which for awhile they were) who had a historic defense. Not historically good like the Super Bowl team the Ravens had, but rather one who turned the ball over at an astonishing rate. Show me unbiased articles that had slack jawed drooling over this Bears team being the "best in the NFL." Where I got "pissy" is you thinking a 1 loss team was going to lose another 6 games simply because they wouldn't beat anyone good. And then reposted yourself smugly when one of the easiest of your predictions came true. The only other "elite" team they play after tonite is the Packers rubber match at home. Thinking they would lose to the Seahawks, Vikings, or whatever the other loss was (I think the Lions) is overly simplistic and ignores how they were playing. Doesn't mean they are DA BEST TEAM EVAR, but they were doing exactly what a team in their position is supposed to, beat the hell out of inferior competition. I don't know how that equates to rolling over against anyone not under .500. They beat down the Colts and raped a Cowboys team still in the playoff hunt, on the road. Thats all I'm saying.
The bears had an easy schedule the first half of the season. My problem with your prediction is you have an above average team being unable to beat any other above average team all season. They could have easily beat Houston last week if Cutler wasn't hurt as well. I think you even have them losing to Arizona. Why? Fuck you Campbell and your 30 point gift to the 49ers defense. Fuck you. All you had to do was not get totally raped tonight, but that was too much to ask apparently. There goes my seven game winning streak.
Did you see the sacks, though? I don't know if anyone told the Chicago line that one and a half step drops aren't a thing.
The Bears offense is pathetically 1 dimensional. Blame it on Tice, Cutler, the line, whatever, but outside of lobbing it up to Marshall, they have no offense. I watched the game tonight on and off. Was Forte hurt? I dont think I saw him run 1 time. Tice makes Sparano look like Bill Walsh. If your oline sucks, you gotta mix it up. Roll outs. Screens. Reverses. Tice is supposed to be an oline guy and their oline is really bad. Even their 1st round picks suck. The Bears need to clean house in the offseason and bring in a whole new scheme.
Can we all just please agree on one thing. Stu Scott looked fresh as hell tonight in that suit. Whew! That man can dress.
I don't know why anyone would think Kaepernick would have a bad game tonight. If you watched ANY of his games at Nevada, it should have been apparent he is/will be a capable NFL starter. Also, the Bears are an average team. They have been for the last 5 years and won't be anything more until something about their offense changes. D26's "predictions" are pretty spot on. Even with Cutler, they are going to have a very tough time beating anyone with a .500 or better record.
I think the reason Forte was non-existent is because the bears were in such a deep hole early on. That being said Forte is a factor on that offense. They won't rack it up unless the defense scores, but they have a little more than throwing it up to Marshall and praying. Average? I don't buy it. They'll at least finish above .500 in what is arguably the league's toughest division. I still think they get 10-11 wins. Even 12 isn't a stretch. What teams left on their schedule other than maybe Green Bay can you really say is better?
I want to add too that the bears are notorious for getting zero respect. No one really cared when they made the NFC championship. When they got to the super bowl everyone and their mother thought the saints would kill them despite it being painfully obvious that the bears were the better team, shitty QB or no. They were in a great spot to win that super bowl as well before Grossman threw a pick 6. Of course, it was supposed to be no contest. I'm not sure why this is.
Agreed, I say we give Alex another week off and let Kap start against NO. If he doesnt perform we can always make a change during the game. On a similar note, welcome back to the offense Vernon Davis!
Poor Alex Smith. All he's done is complete 70% of his passes with one of the highest yards per attempt in the NFL and throw 13 TDs compared to 5 INTs, and now he might lose his job?
