They're still talking about it because it is a dirty player who made a blatantly obvious dirty play in front of millions. This wasn't some 1 PM game only broadcast locally in Detroit and Houston, this was Thanksgiving day in a nationally broadcast game that watched by millions, followed by three days of there being nothing else to talk about in terms of football besides "was Suh's kick intentional?" The fact that he did something that stupid AGAIN this year after stomping on a guy and getting busted for THAT on Thanksgiving just shows that Suh is a complete and total moron. I honestly think, had this happened on a Sunday afternoon game that was only broadcast in Detroit and Houston, it wouldn't have gotten as much attention. Too much happens on a Sunday, and it would've been just another story along with the Jared Allen hit that got fined and various other hard, gray-area hits. Instead, it became all anyone could talk about between Thursday and Sunday, which made the spotlight shine even brighter on Suh's stupidity. He knows he is being watched like a hawk, he knows it is a nationally broadcast Thanksgiving day game, he knows he has a reputation as being one of the dirtiest players in the game, and he knows the camera is ALWAYS on the QB, and yet he still did it (and yeah, I thought it was intentional). If nothing else, it just goes to show that Suh is a complete and total moron. Part of it is also that the definition of what a dirty player is has changed along with the game, and we are much more aware of it than before. For example, on Sunday's game between Chicago and Minnesota, there was an interception and Jared Allen absolutely demolished Lance Louis on a block. He launched himself and put his shoulder right into Louis's shoulder, neck, and head, and of course he was fined. Five years ago, people would've been praising Allen for the big hit, and it would've been featured on SportsCenter and NFL Tonight in a showcase of bone-crunching hits to be praised. Now, they're calling it a dirty hit and Allen a dirty player for it. Because player safety has become such a huge focus, guys like Suh will be even MORE scrutinized and made into villains for their dirty play, and it will remain a big story.
Pretty sure the vast majority of NFL players don't wear cups, not to mention that low blows are outlawed in every sport I can think of.
How in the fuck would the majority of any professional athletes NOT wear a cup? Of course they do, you fucking moron. God damn, I don't call names that often, but that's maybe the dumbest thing I've ever seen on a message board.
I'm the moron? You really think I just made that shit up? Who pissed in your cheerios this morning? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...e-it-easier-for-suhs-toe-to-take-schaub-down/ http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/11/28/texans-shaub-sore-with-suh-wasnt-wearing-a-cup/ http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwau...otball-players-lack-of-support-132587858.html http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=fleming/040922
On my ride into work the other day, Mike and Mike had Cris Carter on and Greenberg asked them why Schaub wasn't wearing a cup and Carter and Golic said they didn't wear them and most other guys don't because they pinch your junk all game and you're better off chancing a nutshot vs getting your shit pinched by the cup all game.
Sometimes its worth the risk I guess...unless you are Adrian Beltre <a class="postlink" href="http://seattletimes.com/html/marinersblog/2009658197_adrian_beltre_to_dl_could_be_l.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://seattletimes.com/html/marinersbl ... _be_l.html</a>
Well then the kick didn't land on his balls, because if it did, Schaub would have been on the ground crying.
I also read that it's about it hindering their movement. If millions of dollars are riding on you being one of the fastest motherfuckers in cleats, I'm not sure this is idiocy.
I don't know how often you've had to wear one, but they absolutely suck dick, especially when you get older. I stopped wearing one for baseball when I was in highschool, and that's a sport where 90% of it is standing still. Running routes? No fucking way, the inside of your legs will get tore up quick. I bet the bigger guys like lineman and some linebackers do, but the skill players probably avoid them.
Not to mention most NFL players are black and therefor have 9-12 inch anacondas down there. They can't fit into this Gator can you confirm this? I know you look into this stuff in your spare time. I want RG3 to beat the Giants so damn badly it's painful. I do not want them in the Playoffs again. They need to step-up and knock the Giants out. No more Eli. No more Eli. Chant with me people. No more Eli!
He almost did last time. It was his damn receivers and their shitty corners that lost the first matchup. Based on merely what I've seen and not any actual numbers, RGIII suffers from a lot of dropped balls compared to a relatively low number of pass attempts.
Boy, you guys fight a lot in here. Can't we all get along and admit we all enjoy sitting down with a few beers and watching criminally insane millionaires on drugs give each other brain damage in the comfort of our own homes?
You're just jealous that we actually can sit down with a few beers and watch criminally insane millionaires on drugs give each other brain damage in the comfort of our own homes. How's that lockout going, eh? Suicide rate spiking up there yet?
If I hated football, I wouldn't post in here. I love football. The part I hate about it is that I am a Redskins fan. But everything I stated were facts. Accept it. You don't need science to know those things. You just need eyes and ears. As for hockey, I could give a shit about those losers right now, or ANYBODY'S opinion on it. I only care about my opinion, which is that this is all the fault of money and greed, period. "For Love Of The Game" my ass. If athletes played for love of the game, Anna Kournikova would be a mail-order bride, and LeBron James would be cutting horizontal blinds in Akron. In my town, out Junior hockey team is #1 in the country. Despite the fact it's only a minor team, we get 10,000 people a game. Right now our city ranks #2 on the NHL expansion team list next to Quebec City, so I have nothing to complain about. Others, I don't really know. People are less sad this time and more "You know what? FUCK them."
Skill players must avoid them. Too big an impact on their strengths and their job description. Many WRs forego leg pads all together in the name of speed and quickness, never mind something that'll definitely inhibit they way you run, cut, jump and move in general. I could see pocket QBs wearing them since speed isn't their game, but I'd still doubt a majority of them do. As a QB, I'd be more concerned with getting my ribs sheared off into my lungs than getting an errant fist or elbow to the junk.
KC LB Jovan Belcher shoots & kills his gf then drives to the Chiefs facility and kills himself. <a class="postlink" href="http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8697360/kansas-city-chiefs-player-commits-suicide-team-facility" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/86973 ... m-facility</a>
I just woke up and saw this. Holy fucking shit. He was in the league for 4 years, not sure if this can be a concussion thing with my very limited knowledge of the science. This could have just been an entirely different
Has to be more than that. That's what people thought, myself included, after Seau killed himself. Killing yourself is chickenshit enough, but to cap the mother of your 2month old daughter it nutless.
