Unbelievable that the Chiefs told the NFL they want to play. Its the Panthers at the Chiefs. Give them both a tie and move on.
I can't believe they are playing that game. How do they handle this tomorrow? Will it just be the elephant in the room that goes unmentioned or will they do something like a moment of silence? It is a fine line because on one hand the guy is a murderer. On the other, he was also their teammate, and by most accounts that I have seen a pretty decent guy up until this point.
The fact that he shot himself in front of Romeo Crenell and Scott Pioli is what blows my mind. That has to be harrowing. It would be one thing to play that game given the incident, but how can Crenell coach a game a day after that?
Exactly, if I witnessed something like that I surely would hope to be excused from my job the next day. Plus apparently the victim was a relative and very close friend of another teammate. It's a fucking football game, lets put things into perspective Kansas City. It's a shitty shitty situation, but surprisingly we are botching it up even more.
The players themselves decided to play the game after talking to their union reps. They said that playing would be a positive action and would help them heal. The Rog talked to demaurice smith who talked to reps who talked to players and then back up and the decision basically came down to the players wanting to play.
I think the fact that he shot his GF first had a lot to do with their decision to play. If he just shoots himself, you mourn and grieve. The fact that he killed the mother of his 2month old daughter makes taking time off seem like you're honoring a murderer. Fuck him. Play the game for his daughter and her mom.
I am sure, but it doesn't negate the fact that he did it AT THAT LOCATION and IN FRONT OF THE COACHES. The entire situation is just uncomfortable. The news this morning is just a constant onslaught of interviews and rehashing and footage of the "fans" arriving at Arrowhead to tailgate. With little blurbs about the weather and domestic violence shelters in between. They have interviewed people every which way to support the decision...from the fans saying "we are a family and want to show support" to "keeping a routine will help them heal" to the newscasters asking everybody to leave their "fire Pioli" signs at home for the day. It just feels really wrong.
They are who I thought they were. But fuck, a win this week would've been nice, and gone a long way towards fending off Green Bay. I'm really starting to wish I had put money on my predictions.
Spoiler This fucking game gave me a shock of white hair. I hate football. Does this mean that we're even with Green Bay now?
I can't decide if you are an idiot savant or a genius. If you had put these predictions to Vegas you would be a rich man.
I'm just a guy who has been a Bears fan since I was ten, and I know this team. Now, that said, I would love nothing more than for them to win next week in Minnesota. They need that win to move ahead of the Packers and to get that divisional win (the Packers win and Bears loss today put the Packers atop the division, based on head-to-head and divisional record). I'd really rather they not be the wild card, although I do think they'll make the playoffs. I just don't think they'll do well on the road playing against a team that generally plays much better at home in the Vikings.
Speaking of which the Vikes just wasted a 210 rushing day by Peterson. Had they had even mediocre quaterbacking they probably would've won that game.
Between the Giants game and today, I don't know if I've ever seen so many mistakes and poor decisions from a team as good as the Steelers.
Meanwhile, the worst QB in the league is Christian Ponder. I would take Tebow, Sanchez, Quinn, dead Steve McNair right now.
Has Sanchez had multiple sub 100 yard games? http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_ ... ian-ponder "He didn't have a single completion for a stretch of 38 minutes, 46 seconds between early in the second quarter and late in the fourth, he completed only one pass to a wide receiver and only a meaningless late flurry prevented him from recording his third sub-100-yard game of the season. " Also threw a pair on INTs deep in Packer territory.
Yes. Four of them, two this year. Granted, he got pulled today. And Sanchez threw three interceptions today. But point taken.
And cue 'sack's illogical justification that the Cowboys somehow won the game in spite of Romo. Even though he had a statistically better game tonight than that ginger Dalton has ever had. Next weekend I'll be in Cincy to see the game and I can't hope for anything more than to see Dallas win. Yes, I'm being petty, but I'll take what I can get at this point.
