Exactly. You think the Bucs players respected Schiano more after getting their ass kicked up and down the field by trying some bullshit bush league move on the last play of the game? The extremely low chance of success was not worth the ill will it caused across the league. Schiano will learn.
Re: Dolphins GC calling fan an asshole The more I think about it, the less I like what Ireland did. If youre gonna shake the hands and kiss the babies, you gotta take the criticism too. Ireland was mixing with the crowd of his own free will. He was taking pictures and stuff. He knows most fans hate him. Plus, he was at the stadium and not with his family. It wasn’t in a target or something. The guy didn’t curse at Ireland and how disrespectful is saying he should fire himself? The fan is an asshole for saying it, but he should be allowed to say it. Ireland should have shown more control. He knows people hate him. He has to expect that. Its just more BS on the franchise we don’t need. At this point, if he cant conduct himself better than that, he should move on.
We haven't heard anything from the Buc's players. The Giants players can say what they want, but I still think its going the otherway in the locker room. Pffft, you think Belichick hasn't thought about this? I wouldn't put anything past the Patriots, he's current freezing out his 2nd best player to make a point. Come on now.
You forgot the most ridiculous one: There have been some very late flags, usually for pass interference against the visiting defense, that seem to come only after the fans all moan and groan.
Read a quote from Roger Goodell today about the pension plans for the refs, "yours truly doesn't have one", really Roger? You make 10 fucking million dollars a year, soon to be 20 million. What a fuckstick. Everybody is bitching about the refs, yet he does nothing but praise the replacements for the job they are doing.
The pension part maks sense for the league to fight it. From what I have heard its not just the referees they are worried about. Most NFL employees are part time and don't havee a pension plan. If they start giving some employees pensions it will open them up to having to pay a lot. I don't know what the numbers are and it doesn't interest me enough to do the resrearch but it isn't just about paying the refs, its a precedent for all employees. Unless I saw all the numbers I wouldn't be able to really pick a side, or at least say for sure that the league is in the wrong, but people are leaving that part out.
I would hope that the players union will step in at some point because, like I said, soon it will be a huge saftey issue for everyone on the field. I heard a rumor that they may be back week 5. No clue if it's true or not. Trying to read everything I can to verify. Even if I do find something I don't know if I'd believe it or not. I realize the regular officials aren't perfect but at least they aren't shit talked (read: bullied) into making calls, or missing them. The whole thing just sucks.
The week 5 thing is because the league has assigned the replacement referees through week 5, but no further (yet). I really think it is more about which them discerning which groups of referees is the best (i.e. making the fewest awful mistakes) and assigning them to the prime time games, in the hopes of minimizing the exposure of how awful the scabs are. In reality, the only way this ends is if the referees cave or the scab refs decide they've had enough of being abused and being the main storyline due to their absolute awfulness and quit.
Is his point how to go 1-1? What happens if Welker decides to drop a couple now that Hernandez is out and all of a sudden they might need him again. Worked in the SuperBowl....
I want you to die of auto erotic asphyxiation. Wes isn't going to do that. He's going to play his ass off, as he did in the third quarter on from last game. "Freeze me out? Now you need me and I'm going to show you and everyone else why I should get paid." It'll be a damn good show. Can't wait until he has another 99 yard run on that team again...wait, which team was that? Gator do you know? I can't seem to recall...which team was that?
I really don't get why people thought Carolina would be good this year. Cam Newton showed some promise his rookie season, but he sure as hell isn't near elite and the roster honestly isn't that inspiring. I don't think they even make it to 8-8, let alone the playoffs. I wanted to say too, the NFC west is way improved this year. I wouldn't really call them a strong division yet, but they aren't in the cellar anymore. Probably only the 49ers make the playoffs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they squeeze out a wild card. The only team in the division that still sucks is the rams. I don't care how Sam Bradford has started the season, he still sucks balls and this is his last year as a starter. However, the top management needs to realize that handing coaching staffs god awful teams and then firing everyone when they don't make the playoffs isn't a sound solution. For my packers, I just don't think they have the defense to go all the way this year. They looked great against the bears, but I'm not sold. They'll still be good and get something like 11 wins, but I don't think they have the pieces to win it all. I couldn't give less of a shit about their poor running game though. Look folks, strong defense + elite QB wins titles, a strong ground game doesn't. That's been the case for a long time now. The whole 'you win by running the ball and stopping the run' mantra is total bullshit these days. Just ask the vikings. They did that for years and still didn't get close until Favre gave them an effective passing attack.
Thats the team that wasnt supposed to win a game this season because they sucked so bad and now has the same 1-1 record as the team that was supposed to go undefeated and lost at home to a 2td underdog. That team? And how many meaningless 99yard tds against a sub .500 team would Welker & the Pats give up for him to make that fairly simple catch when it counted? Which one do you think more people remember?
First of all, as much as this hurts me to say the following statement, but I have to say it: That pass was Tom Brady's fault. We discussed this already. It was NOT on Wes Welker. Tom Brady put an ounce too much air on that ball, it sailed just a wee-bit, and it was gone. Stop being a bitter Miami fan. Panthers: Cam Newton is great. Steve Smith was great, but is old. That's it. Bill Barnwell correctly pointed out how over the last 10 years Carolina has shitted money and draft picks away. This is the same team/GM that drafted Jimmy Clausen and threw him into the fire. And this isn't a major surprise to anyone. NFL.com was running an article before week 1 named "5 Teams that are not as good as you think" with Cam Newton being the picture. There you go.
Is he? Athletic as hell sure, but what has he really done at this point to prove he's a great nfl QB? I'm not saying he's bad or that he won't get there, but I really don't see how anyone can say he's a great QB already.
