I haven't been able to watch many Wings games lately due to being away and work but if they even consider trading either Tatar or Nyquist in the near future I'm going to be pissed. These two are shaping up as ready made replacements for Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

They look like they have the good to go a long way in the future.

This right here is hockey hipsterdom. The NHL stumbled into a popular, if gimmicky, cash cow event, and they're exploiting it. How is that a bad thing? Players, fans, owners all enjoy it and benefit from it. The outdoor games are basically college football bowl games now, but guess what? Bowl games are fucking awesome and outdoor games are too.

I'd 8-2 be an Avalanche fan right now...

Habs-Bruins was a solid game; I thought the Bruins created more chances overall, but got sunk by an awful second period. I'm not drawing too many conclusions, just that both teams are on a similar level and sometimes the puck bounces your way. Also, overplaying Rask is starting to become a real concern.

Fortunately Rask is talented enough to reel that in. Being a goalie for Boston allows you to overplay a lot, and its also partly a maturity thing. You see it with young goalies all the time, they overplay the situation, then when they get older they calm down a bit and are more solid. Jonathan Quick went through the same thing.

That's not really what I meant, referring more to the fact that he starts way too many games and doesn't get rotated enough.

Got it, I've been coaching a bit recently so when I see overplay I think something different.

I think the problem Boston has right now is that Tuukaa is entering his prime and they lost a reliable backup in Anton Khudobin.

Lots of nastiness in the Bruins-Penguins game. Neal gets 5 games. Thornton's suspension yet to be announced. Orpik concussed, Kelly broken ankle, Eriksson concussed. The next game, Phaneuf gets 2 games for his hit on Kevan Miller, who was left concussed.

I'm not a fan of outcome-dependent suspensions. If it's anybody but Orpik (who might have had undiagnosed concussions), I think there's no major injury on what Thornton did, and he gets 2 for roughing. I don't think Orpik's hit was legal - Eriksson never touches the puck, and Orpik has a history of toeing the line between interference and legality.
Phaneuf should have got 5. Thornton should get 10, but he will probably get more like 15-20.

It saddens me Iginla plays for the Bruins because they are just so far beyond deserving of any respect it's baffling. Low-life, dirty-hitting disgrace-to-the-fucking-sport shit piles. Thorton deserves at least ten. I'd kick him out for the rest of the year for that triple-cheapshot bullshit. He kicked out his skates and punched him gloves-on while smacking him against the ice. He's a fucking coward for that.

That being said, Neal's hit was dirty as shit too and deserves plenty of games off. Targeting the head with your knee, what a fucking goof. That was Sean Avery bullshit, can we leave that asshole a distant memory already?

His head never hits the ice from what I can see. That's why I think he must have had concussion issues, since it doesn't make any sense that he's out cold from those punches. Thornton isn't Mike Tyson.

It's the back-and-forth motion. Brain hitting the skull on both sides while already concussed despite the impact it was just plain dirty. Kicking out his feet like that was pure sleaze, adding he's punching him with frozen hard plastic over his hands.

I wouldn't doubt his career being over already being hurt. Hockey violence is already receiving heavy sweat, death from a brain injury is something they don't need.

What Thorton did was bad, it was thuggish, moronic, and heavy handed. What Neil did was worse. Neil saw Marchs head there, and intentionally ran it with his knee. You have to know there's a possibility of ending a guys career like that.

Either way, its not surprising this happened between two of the most whiney, cheap teams out there.

I hate both teams, but I agree, Boston is a bit more honorable. Pittsburgh is known for their antics. I don't know if its Bylsma or Crosby, but that team takes more cheap shots, and complains more than any other team in the league.

These Stadium Series jerseys are awful. Screen-printed logos look like shit.

Re-updated instructions for getting HD hockey streams on your computer. Note new workaround
Uninstall your current version of VLC

    Get: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.videolan.org/vlc/</a>
    Download: <a class="postlink" href="http://breadwinka.com/hockey.luac" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://breadwinka.com/hockey.luac</a>

Put the file you downloaded in:
    Windows (all users): %ProgramFiles%\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\sd\
    Windows (current user): %APPDATA%\VLC\lua\sd\
    Linux (all users): /usr/share/vlc/lua/sd/
    Linux (current user): ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/sd/
Mac OS X (all users): VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/sd/ (right click VLC.app and Show Package Contents)

    Open C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad (/etc/hosts in mac/linux)
    add this line and save
    Code:
    192.241.136.149 nlsk.neulion.com
Then restart VLC, click view and playlists and look for /r/hockey in internet and you have the games.

Yea, like I said before, fuck the stadium series. They had a good thing with the Winter Classic and Heritage Classic. Unfortunately they decided to water down the product with the Stadium Series. Hard to believe the Kings and Duck are going to play in Dodger Stadium. Dodger Stadium is sketchy as shit, anyone who goes to see that game is going to risk being harassed by gangs.
