No, it's not on the downward. It's always been around, it's just North American music fans listen to what they're told. From 1998-2001, it was THE music at bars. It was played more than hip-hop and R&B on dancefloors, and the reason it's coming back now is because all the pop stars are throwing big beats into their songs, even that horrible, ear-splitting, shit sandwich, anti-music known as "Dubstep" that belongs in the garbage. I can tell you right now it's NOT on it's way out, it's the only music they play at the biggest clubs that make the most money, and as long as Europe exists it will be huge. If you go over there, it's pretty much the only music you'll hear. The biggest problem with EDM is the underground music IS the best when it comes to it. Unlike rock, where "Indie/College" is the equivilent of "Shit", it seems only the lousiest music gets huge airplay with EDM, like DJ Sammy, Skrillex (who's music sucks), and this new, completely vanilla clone of David Guetta who was obviously replaced by a Pod Person about five years ago.
Which is precisely my point. I like baseball and football. I don't like soccer, basketball or hockey. But not for a second do I believe based on my personal taste that baseball or football are inherently better than the other sports. It's about what you like. To put it another way, ALL professional sports are equally silly. Despite the fact that societies (not just Americans) seem to economically value them far more than most other professions doesn't change the underlying fact that they're all adults playing children's games for shitloads of money.
If you can't figure out why someone would object to the statement "hockey is soccer's American cousin", well, I don't know what to say.
Whelp, here's disagreeing with you on just about every point. I can't really speak for the Euro scene, as I have just no idea but I'll take your word on it. I wasn't referring to it "always being around," because of course it will. I was referring to it being the dominant form of music across all genres. It's ubiquitous right now, hip hop has had it for a while, it's coming out in country music, the whole thing is huge just about everywhere. I'm wondering more about what will become dominant next, because I think we're at the peak. Of course when you go to clubs it has been played and will continue to always be played the most, because at its core it's dance music. As for the "underground," you know how even now there's these tapes coming out from these random artists in the 60s and 70s that people are listening to and are like, "shit, this is fucking good."? I'm not sure you're going to see a similar thing happening with EDM 40 years from now, because it takes a LOT to stand out. Anybody can fire up a DAW and put together a beat nowadays, so the signal/shit ratio is much higher, and the good gets noticed, especially with the ease of putting your work out there nowadays. I'm sure there are plenty of good artists that aren't Skrillex types, but I think it stops there. There aren't as many layers, there's nobody making this alone in their apartment for themselves that may or may not be found at a much later date.
Why are you watching the Bachelor, and why are you watching that instead of the national title game? Please tell me you're not watching it by yourself....
Always lurking in the shadow waiting for that opportune moment to let out a boom roasted. Just like a 7/11 not always doing business but always open.
She looks ten years older than him. And he has probably the shittiest tattoo ever: ...holy faggotry, Batman.
I'll have you know, dear sir, I would NEVER mix room shades by buying a purple lava lamp with a sky blue paint scheme. You see, I'm an autumn and those colours completely clash with my aura. And I would NEVER cut my hair that short.
