The Iron Lady dies at 87. Pity you youngsters weren't around for the Cold War. Being minutes away from death by Soviet ICBMs was so much fun.
And her polar opposite, Annette Funicello, passes away as well: http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/08/showbiz/annette-funicello-obit/index.html Clearly this juxtaposition is symbolic of an abstract theme involving death. Or life. Or people. Or something . . . . . Fuck, i don't know. They're dead.
Why can't a Kardashian die? Or generally any celebrity that's worthless. It would lighten up the death pool.
Im not one to usually post random not really famous to anyone under 55 just because the new trend in page views and twitter hash tagging is pushing every random celebrity death but: Jonathan Winters died. I post it because I completely randomly watched the episode of the Twilight Zone this morning where he plays Fats Brown, a dead legendary pool hustler that challenges a young upstart to a round of pool for all the marbles. Great episode. I actually wikipedia the episode and was surprised to see he was still alive (at the time). Odd happenstance.
Funny, this was the first thing I thought of too when I heard he died. Not to mention It was also the first thing I thought of when Jack Klugman died a few months ago as well. Definitely one of the better episodes in the series (part 1):
Deftones bassist Chi Cheng died today: <a class="postlink" href="http://oneloveforchi.com/our-dearest-family/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://oneloveforchi.com/our-dearest-family/</a> Might not be a celebrity, but it was a damned good band for a while.
Frank Bank, who played Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford on Leave It To Beaver <a class="postlink" href="http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/frank-bank-leave-beaver-lumpy-rutherford-dies-71-article-1.1316359" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainmen ... -1.1316359</a> I am not sure if there are any other Leave It To Beaver fans on this board, but I grew up watching it with my parents and still enjoy watching episodes.
Or it being a hideous, mutated reject of society. I think it will come out looking like Jeff Goldblum towards the end of "The Fly". Just noticing, truly sad about Jonathan Winters. A true legend of stand-up and the king of improv comedy- nobody did it better.
Back to back posts. I need to stop trolling "celebrity" obits. Allan Arbus who played Major Sidney Freedman on M*A*S*H. I loved that character. Ladies and Gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice... Spoiler
