3/45 from what I've heard. Who's gonna play 2B? Alfonso Soriano's decaying corpse? Is Johnson good enough? How many DHs does one team need?
Apparently they're not done yet(this is getting kind of insane)...talking to Brandon Phillips, Stephen Drew, Shin-Soo Choo(what the fuck is the point?) and Omar Inafante. The Yankees have now signed four out of the ten top free agents this offseason...and they're not done???? AWESOME!
Doesn't this mean that the Sox would have saved 6 million if they had just gone with the original 3 year/39 million contract? Or am I doing my math wrong? And I like it too. They had to do it, and his defense at 1B was pretty outstanding.
They ended up paying a little extra for the flexibility of letting him walk this year if he underperformed. They won the World Series so it worked out. That said I think there are serious regression possibilities around most of the team, Nap included. Pretty much everyone performed well above projections.

I don't think this team over performed this year as much as some would lead you to believe (not to say they didn't at all). Expectations and projections were artificially low as a result of 2012 being beyond the worst case scenario. Basically the 2013 team played truer to their talent level than the 2012 team did, largely due to health. I'm still worried about centerfield and the bullpen. Koji cannot and will not pitch like he did in 2013 again, and the bullpen still lacks a consistent power arm.
Mujica is a really good bullpen pickup, same mold as Koji - throws nothing but strikes, relies on a dominant splitter, performed great as the Cards closer until some injury problems. I think we move Dempster or another pitcher, pick up a platoon guy for the outfield, and maybe re-sign Drew so we don't have to start Middlebrooks (although I think it's unlikely given the years he'll want). http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/edward-m ... ch-closer/

Welcome to being a Mariners fan. This kind of incompetence is what I have to deal with for 162 games, because I know there's no goddamn way any meaningful baseball will be played after June. In a perfect world, the Mariners are sold to Paul Allen, Howard Lincoln and Chuck Armstrong are fired, and Mr. Allen makes Billy Beane the highest paid GM on the planet in perpetuity. In short, fuck the Mariners front office.
Apparently Seattle is going to either keep Justin Smoak and put Hart or Morrison in left field. Because when I think of Gold Glove LF defense, I think of Corey Hart and Logan Morrison. In a perfect world, Smoak is packaged with Nick Franklin and James Paxton for 2 years of Price and sign Tanaka (when he's posted) or another starting pitcher. I'd love it if Choo is snapped up to play left field, but it's looking like Texas is in the lead on him.
I'd say "I hate the Hall of Fame right now," but that implies that I ever considered them NOT a joke...
Goddammit. How the fuck do you injure yourself in the fucking offseason, Holland? Seriously? A freak accident and he fell down at home? They haven't even reported yet and the shenanigans start.
Anybody else ecstatic that Selig is stepping down after this season? I hate that guy, he's done more to destroy baseball than any single person I can think of. What a douche.
Well, apparently several scouts in Florida have stated that the Yankees have the "worst infield in all of baseball"...I believe it. Between that and the bullpen(or lack thereof) I think this is a 85-86 win team that just barely misses the second wildcard. And the goddamn Jeter hagiographies are only going to get worse....
