He really doesn't even have the size. He comes in at 6'3" and 235, which is 25 pounds below the average weight of a typical NFL tight end. There are only five starting TEs in the entire league under 250, and one of them is a converted running back/Swiss army knife (Delanie Walker). None are under 245. At 6'3", he's also on the shorter side: successful tight ends typical measure about 6'5". These were the guys at the 2013 combine. Tebow would be undersized even among draftees, since they average out to 6'4.5" and 252 lbs (and he wouldn't even be fast: half of them ran the 40 as fast or faster than Tebow did). And many of those guys ultimately lack the size to contribute at the NFL and will never see the field.
Tebow's arrogance just confounds me. I would rather be an employed tight end than an unemployed quarterback. I think it's also telling that he hasn't even been signed a practice squad.
Ugh. My worst scenario was him basically putting up the statline that he did - not good enough to win with any consistancy, but made enough plays that it might convince the front office to keep him for another year.
Agreed. I've never seen a team that showed such promise and was the buzz of the NFL have such a fall from grace. Sanchez is done and Geno doesn't need a circus around him. The NFL would be a better place without that classless piece of shit at the helm of a team. He and Bellichick are of the same ilk. Quite frankly, I can't decide who I hate more.
What a shitshow this Giants/Cowboys game is. Maybe someone should let these guys know the season has actually started.
So, in watching that Bears game again, I have to say I am optimistic. Cutler wasn't sacked once, and while their run protection wasn't great, that line still opened up some good holes against what is supposed to be a really good Cincy defense. I know its only one game, but I am very optimistic about Trestman; moreso than I was this time a week or two ago.
The same Mark Brunell who was selected to 3 Pro Bowls, won a NFL passing title, and was the fourth highest paid player in the NFL in 2000?
That last two minutes made me nervous as fuck and super nostalgic at the same time. That is how you execute with two minutes on the clock, down by 1. And I'm not missing Welker's butterfingers one bit. That said, really threadbare receiving corps. It's Amendola, Edelman, and rookies.
Let's not get all crazy fandom and attack Welker for a pass Brady overthrew him on and act like he didn't have the most receptions in the league for 3 years straight. I'm glad to have Amendola who is younger, hungrier and making plays. But I can't let you good Patriots fans just throw Welker under the bus.
Wait till Amendola is out, you'll be missing Welker then. Amandola is good but never stays healthy. One game should not be enough to forget a guy who made so many plays.
