I actually like this move after thinking about it. They've got nothing but Richardson on their team. They get a first rounder out of the deal on top of the one they have already. I think they have 7 total picks in the first three rounds. That's a QB, RB, couple of line guys, maybe a WR. Not that they'll make any good moves with those picks, but it puts them in a good position to succeed after the previous years failures. There's a few other teams in the league who would benefit from this strategy.
Mostly agreed. A single star player is virtually never a good thing for a team - it's either actual cost (if they acquired in free agency) or opportunity cost. In this particular case, though, I'm not entirely sure they got great value. I mean, they traded away a very recent first round pick that they knew was good, for a first round pick that they'll have to spend speculatively. Now, it's might still be a good trade if they spend the pick on someone who provides a little broader value to the team - but I'm still not sure I get it here. They're just going to go burn another pick on another running back, who may or may not pan out.
Considering that they spent significantly more than a first round pick to select Richardson, I feel like this can't be anything but a net loss. It basically says that the Browns don't expect to be any good until Richardson is past his best years.
I think it's less about that and more about considering (1) Richardson to not be as good as others do, and (2) considering running back to be expendable. It's pretty clear in looking around the league that running backs burn out fast (look at Foster's health...) and are often treated interchangeably. So they're going to take assets while they still can. And ultimately, Richardson's production trails behind his reputation. Personally I think he's better than his numbers suggest, but it's hard to figure out what to point to. His ypc is not only bad, but worse than his backup last year, Montario Hardesty (not exactly a star in waiting). And he only has two twenty yard runs. Luckily, Indy should be a better situation for him, but so far the Browns don't look crazy.
If THAT is the Eagles offense...how bad is Washington's defense? The QB play in that game was so bad, I had to cut myself like a 17 year old fat girl just to fall asleep.
The NFC East is going to be a dumpster fire this year. They should probably ax the Thursday game. Most of them are unwatchable, and I've got to think that being in the middle of the week is part of the reason why.
Agreed. The Eagles played something like 3 games in 11 days cause of the MNF game and this one. They looked like shit last night but I'm hoping at least some of that was fatigue. Otherwise it's gonna be a long season.
Well, that game isn't going to forget itself. Since this is Aldon's second DUI, it looks like a 4 game suspension is coming.
You can add possession to those charges as well. AND hes being sued by a guy shot at a house party: In the suit filed earlier this month in Santa Clara County Superior Court, David Kleczek, an attorney for Ronndale Esporlas, claims that Smith and former Niners tight end Delanie Walker fired weapons illegally during a party at Smith's San Jose home on June 29, 2012. The players charged a $10 admission and $5 per drink, the lawsuit said. Smith, 23, and Walker, who is also named in the suit, were allegedly intoxicated on Smith's balcony when they later fired gunshots in the air while trying to end the party, the lawsuit said. Kleczek said they then moved to the driveway where he alleged more shots were fired. Esporlas, 21, was shot twice in the leg while he was "caught in the crossfire between the two groups of people firing gunshots at each other," the lawsuit said. As a result, Esporlas, "sustained serious, catastrophic and permanent injuries," the lawsuit said. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. $10 cover and $5 drinks? You deserve to get shot for participating in that.
Welcome to the NFL Kembrell Thompkins. Two TDs in the first half? Thanks for arriving. Also, I'm pretending to be a Vikings fan for the day (Deadpool pick) and its fucking killing me. How are the Browns, which everyone all Meme'd about after trading Trent Richardson away, put up 24 points in the first half. It is hilarious that Brian Hoyer, exPatriot just stole the job away from Weeden. Weeden is NOT getting his job back after this game unless he throws 5 picks in the second half.
The Vikings are such a garbage fucking team. The defense is absolute shit, and the offense is worthless too, despite putting up 22 points per game so far. You would think that the entire defensive line being in a contract year would inspire them but so far they look like they don't give a shit at all. As usual, a backup QB comes in and lights them up for 321 yards and 3 TDs - a Vikings' classic. The playcalling is horrible as usual, even given Ponder's limitations. Both coordinators have to go. I'd say Ponder needs to be benched as well but it's not like Cassel was lighting it up in preseason either. Looks like a 4-12 season incoming.
4 -12 is optimistic. We've lost to the Browns and the Lions already. Those are two of your wins in a 4 -12 season.
EWING THEORY! WHEEDEN FOR TEEEEE-BOW! WHO SAYS NO??? MY BUDDY HOUSE HAS BEEN WATCHING TRENT RICHARDSON AND SAYS NONE OF THE FANS WERE SCARED. FACTS. NOW WATCH ME PICK GAMES TERRIBLY EVERY WEEK.
Or that he went over the top Twitter-fighting people to defend Ryan Braun only to look like a dumbass when Braun's shenanigans came out.
Weeden wasnt getting his job back as soon as they announced hes not guaranteed to get his job back. I heard they tried to trade Hoyer at half time cuz he was fucking up the Tank for Teddy/Clown for Clowney campaign. Weedens future lies where all older people go to die...in Florida.
I wonder as a coach trying to tank, and you realize all of a sudden the other team is trying to GIVE you the game. You've been taught to win and you love winning. You understand the business aspect, but then that moment hits you "We can WIN this game!" I want to know what that cognitive dissonance is like. Anyway, Brian Hoyer, ex Patriot and Bearcat just fucked my life. That Matt Hasselbeck looking mother fucker channeled some Brady and fucked me hard. That trick play was hilarious though, I get helmets limit your vision, but no one looked over for a second? No one counts the other team. No one was like "Hey, there is a huge space right there, isn't that odd?" I can't fucking believe it. The pot was $2,160 and the only consoling factor is that 20+ other people out of 75ish got knocked out with me. Also, Simmons joked about the Ewing theory then dropped a JK, stop hating. The Steelers are bad mmmk? They need to Drowney for Clowney. And a RB, and fire Todd Haley. Letting Bruce Arians go was the worst thing they could have done. Brown and Sanders looked decent when he was there. And...WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH THE 49ers? Everyone had these guys and Seattle battling it out for the SB and they lose to the Colts by a lot at home? That's not right.
