If it were anyone other than Kluwe, I'd be more inclined to agree. Thing is, he wasn't that great of a punter and was an 8-year veteran. The average punter's career is 5 years. If you can get the exact same performance out of a rookie as you can out of an 8-year veteran for half the price, it makes sense to ax the veteran. Not to mention, not a single other team in the league gave him an offer. He's a mediocre punter who just so happened to be politically active. I'm sure that if what he says is true, that the decision would've been even more final, but you can put a pretty clear case that the Vikings fired him for completely performance-related reasons. On the subject of the playoffs, here's my predictions: Chiefs over Colts Chargers over Bengals Packers over 49ers Saints over Eagles Broncos over Chargers Patriots over Chiefs Seahawks over Packers Panthers over Saints Patriots over Broncos Seahawks over Panthers Seahawks over Patriots
I really don't keep up with celebrity sex lives, but last I heard he was dating some girl he knew from where he grew up and met at church camp. No idea if that's still going on or not. He's apparently a pretty devout Christian, which also points away from his being gay. I think the rumors are mostly a result of people just really wanting to hear about an NFL player sucking some dick. And I agree with omegaham about the Kluwe situation. He really hasn't been playing well and teams don't have much patience for underperforming punters. If he had been playing well it would look suspicious, but given the circumstances it looks like a standard roster decision the same as most teams would make.
When I think Christian, I'm definitely not thinking about preachers getting caught smoking meth and having sex with male masseuses. The real question is, outside of the media, who gives a shit? The man is a great QB with a Super Bowl ring. Being gay doesn't make him any less of an athlete or a man. Also, to say Kluwe is a poor punter shows you either didn't read the article, or just looked at his stats. When your coach tells you to hang your punt so your bad coverage team can force a fair catch, that will negatively affect your punting numbers. Never mind the fact that he had a torn meniscus in his knee for 4 years. Also: Source. It's my belief that Kluwe has been blackballed for believing gays are human beings too. It's bullshit, but I don't run a front office so...
No, it doesn't. It might point to him being horribly repressed, but it doesn't point away from him being gay...
In 2012 kluwe finished 31rst in the league in punts downed inside the 20. That to me is the most important stat for a punter and it makes him look terrible. We can blame some of that ranking on factors outside his control but it's still a dismal ranking. I get the impression a lot of people just want to rush to his defense without considering the vikings' position. He did not have a bad career but he was not a great punter when he got cut. The guy they replaced him with also cost a fraction of his salary. Sounds like a sound football decision to me. Just to be clear i like Kluwe and I thought his cock monster article was hilarious and awesome. However, that article was intellectually dishonest. Binary - that's a fair point, but until there is something that actually indicates he is gay the discussion is kind of pointless. Again, I really would not care if the rumor turned out to be true. It just doesn't make much sense at the moment.
Am I the only one who's curious as to why this is only coming out now and not say, a few weeks after Kluwe was cut?
I don't understand how a coach with that much experience can't figure out how to use timeouts. I really can't.
I can't even watch the Eagles Saints games. It like fucking 1995 with a broken antenna in this bitch, all I see is snow. All my other channels are crystal clear.
I've been a fan of both the Vikings and the Chargers for long enough that I don't trust a lead until 20 minutes after the game is over. Look what happened with the games yesterday.
I'm a Patriots fan, but I live in Chicago so my second team (fuck you, I can have one) is the Chicago Bears. Its osmosis of my environment. Plus the Bears games are always on, so I can watch them even more than the Patriots due to availability and friends. But, watching this 49ers vs. Packers game, I don't know what it is, but it looks like the 49ers hate the Packers more than the Bears do, and enjoy playing them more than the Bears. Colin threw a pick, and said "Fuck this, I'm stopping the return" with a real fucking head to head tackle. Got up and talked shit. Then he just took the ball and ran like 35 yards running away from all the fucks he could have given. Every single play the 49ers are popping up, talking shit to the Packers. These guys are having so much goddamn fun. The Bears need that back.
