Yeah I get that. I hate on the guy because....he's good. It hurt to say that. Like no one else does the same shit in similar situations. Everyone does.
What? Come on! I don't even hate the guy and I can think of 50 insults right off the top of my head. At least make fun of him for being adopted, for him having a small dick because he's half white. The fact his head is shaped like ever cartoon villian from the 90 (wide forehead, to very thin pointy chin) how his chinstrap is there to catch the semen coming down off his face, how his first kiss was his muscles and his second kiss was his dog (saw that on twitter, can't tell if its funny on its own, or funny because its bad). I believe in your originality Shegirl!
No, it's funny because it's funny. I'm laughing. So you guys really think they can go into Seattle and win? I don't see it happening. Not there. You think it's loud on TV? That place is fucking loud, like made my ears ring for two days after the Monday night game I saw there, loud. Here's another thing to figure into the equation, the game is in the afternoon which means plenty of tailgate time. Monday is a holiday so many fans don't have to work that day. This means many drunkards, very, loud, obnoxious, drunkards. Good luck with that. I heard that often they cut off the booze at the half or end of the 3rd. That will happen Sunday too. I have a love/hate thing with this time of the year because the end is near. Since I'm not really into basketball and not into baseball at all, it makes me a sad sad girl.
The 49ers are six and nine in NFC Championship games. So They win one out of every three games. This is the third year with this coaching staff and so far they are one of two games one. Just on a past history I say the 49ers would lose. I think if the 49ers play the perfect game and Seattle does not then the 49ers win. What are the chances of both of those things happening? I think very small. SheGirl, I got over my hatred of Farve beating the Niners every year in the playoffs by drafting him for my fantasy football team. Perhaps you could do the same.
Historical win/loss records are probably the worst statistic ever for judging future outcomes. Teams and staff change so much from year to year that it's ridiculous to suggest a team from this year, facing this year's opponent, has the same statistical odds as a team from 10 years ago.
Nah, in a way the hate relates to my love of the game. I'll keep it. Now they are opening the stadium at noon. That place is going to be one huge party.
Racist? No, just no. He's half or more white but the issue is that he's just young and stupid. I hope he never sniffs a super bowl. Why is that? Do I hate thugs? Yes. Is he a thug? I think so but I'm truly not sure. What I really hate are young punks, and flat bill hats. Yeah, maybe I'm getting old but I didn't think Dilfer should have won a Super Bowl either so while totally different (because Dilfer is smart, but not athletic, and Caep is well, different) it's the same thing, because he has talent, but he's not that good. Either way, I'd like to see Seattle win the bowl, because they never have, then Denver, then New England, then San Fran. I don't even know why I put them in that order but that's where I'm at.
Flat billed hats suck, chinstraps suck a billion times more. They are for fat people in basketball jerseys and have weak chins. Nobody--ever-- has looked cool in one. And thug isn't racist, I don't know where that came from. It means you are a worthless criminal tool fuckhead. Which is exactly what he looks like.
You guys really don't see what might be objectionable about calling a college educated black man with no criminal record a thug because you don't like the way he wears his hat? Or because (like your own wife) he has tattoos?
Calling any NFL player other than Matt Birk (and anyone else that went to harvard) "College educated" is probably a stretch. Technically true, but a stretch. I don't give a fuck about his tattoos or what color he is. He dresses like a wannabe thug. That's just true. From the few interviews I've seen he's a pretty smart guy, and he's a hell of a QB so far, but perception matters. That's just a fact.
Put me in the "what the hell does 'wannabe thug' mean" camp. That sounds like some dog-whistle shit to me. Oh no he wears a doo rag and flatbrims, clutch your purses and lock your doors. Talib can't stay healthy in the big games... or generally speaking.
Gosh, between the implication that no NFL player could possibly take advantage of their college education and all the fashion critique, we're just rolling in the intelligent discourse here. If I said, "Aaron Rogers sucks, the fuckin' pedophile," a bunch of people would get miffed no matter what his mustach says. So maybe calling a seemingly nice person a thug based on their hat position is also stupid and deserves to be criticized.
....But Aaron Rodgers is white. This post brought to you by: Racism. "Just because YOU don't think it is racist doesn't mean it isn't."
Personally, I'm nostalgic for the good ol' days when thugs were white and wore suits with suspenders.
You honestly think the majority of NFL players actually payed attention to the school part of college, or took all their own tests? You think a star offensive lineman or wideout or running back would be benched by a Div I school for having shitty grades, or would be allowed to have shitty grades? I don't. I don't think that all NFL players are morons, or that none of them can take advantage of the degrees the earned, I'm saying I bet most of them were a lot more focused on football than education. Somehow "thug" seems to have taken on a racial connotation in this discussion, which I don't get. I've never associated the word thug with being black, or being a racist term in any way. I thought they were just young punks with shitty "I'm tough" attitudes. I'll just say his hat looks stupid and leave it at that, i guess. Meanwhile, back to the actual football part of the football thread. i can't watch the game here in Bahrain, we don't have an AFN feed in this office, but I can pull up ESPN's game cast. Is it as good a game as it seems to be score wise?
I believe that y'all don't mean it like that, but take it from me, these days, in this country, the word "thug" is often racialized. Also, let's not kid ourselves. You buy the hats like that. The reason why people are judging him for wearing the hat the way it comes is because it's something that black dudes do in urban environments.
Speaking strictly for myself, there's no racism in my hate for flat bills. They just look fucking ridiculous. I've hated them ever since this white guy sported them a couple of years ago. It looks horrendous. Edit: also, what the fuck was up with Richard Sherman after the game?
