People posting on Facebook saying today is the last 12-13-14 day we will ever see are retarded. Tomorrow is the only 12-14-14 day we will ever see too. One two fuck you.
Meh. As far as I'm concerned it's 13-12-14 or 14-12-14. Day, Month, Year Motherfuckers. Also, only two shaves left for the year until it's beard time and it's time for some of this.
You add unnecessary vowels to words too, don't you? I saw someone on facebook that said something like "is it weird to be born on 12/13/14? And so I thought maybe she had a baby. Nope, she was referring to herself. Huh? You ever reminded of a song that you liked as a kid and then listen to it today and it's not what you remember and you wonder why you ever liked that song? Yeah, me too.

I bought some of this the other day and was not impressed. It was palatable with coke but I did not enjoy it neat.
As much as I like rum, I've never regarded it as something to drink neat. But it's the foundation of many of my favourite cocktails. But not straight for me, I'm no pirate. Puffy shirts clash with my aura.
I've drank a lot of things in my day, but rum is definitely one of those things (for me, like gin), that are fantastic in things like mojitos, but on their own? Yeah, not so great, or you have to chill them almost to the point of frozen to have them neat. In the time I bartended, I'm not sure I ever poured shots of rum or gin. Maybe, once or twice, but I don't remember doing it.
To me, rum is like bacon. Bacon is amazing in a whole lot of things, but I don't necessarily like it plain. Or on the rocks. That's just weird. Tiki drinks are crazy, and without rum it would be a sad, sad world. There are dozens of high end sipping rums, but they never tasted too unique. For $50 I could buy a killer bourbon instead. Kraken was pretty good on the rocks, but I have this sneaking suspicion they use a lot of additives and dyes to get that striking color. What's cool about them is they're based in New Jersey. Who the fuck makes rum in Jersey? They get their rum distillate shipped from Trinidad. Assumedly, they casket it on premises, but I think they take shortcuts. So maybe I can buy a few hundred gallons of high proof white rum to age in my garage in charred oak barrels. Planter's Punch, one of my favorite summer drinks. Dark rum is necessary: 2 ounces dark rum 1 ounce lime juice (about 1 lime) 1 ounce simple syrup Several dashes Angosturra Bitters (approximately 1 teaspoon) Pinch fresh nutmeg and allspice Shake it like a crying baby over ice. I'm salivating a little. Think it's time for breakfast.
CJ, you had me inspired for a minute there. I am leaving this Saturday to do the Christmas in Texas thing, after which we are flying out to Cali to visit el husband's family. I had all these grand plans of mixers I would bring and drinks I would make by the pitcher because my family is a bunch of boozers and there's nothing else to do except eat and drink your face off for a week at Christmas. Then I remembered 2 years ago. I tried to make my sisters and dad a real, bonafide margarita with lime juice and triple sec. It's a sipping drink because of the tartness but damn, if it isn't fine. They wanted me to use sour mix! They couldn't stomach a real margarita (except my dad. He powered through it). Balderdash. Maybe I'll just drink all of my sister's wine. Shit, I'm on muscle relaxers. I don't think I'm supposed to mix those?
I just watched the Good Eats (Alton Brown) episode on the bloody Mary and margarita. He skips the triple sec and muddles in some orange. Yeah, muddle that. Muddle it good. Even I want some of that.
We use straight up orange juice in our "margarita" at the sports bar I work at. It's stupid that people accept these things are margaritas. They do sour mix, orange juice, tequila and some grand marnier.
Wrapping presents, watching Starship Troopers, and occasionally throwing on a little Salt n Pepa. I smell Christmas tradition! I'm out of Christmas tags so I'm just writing their names on a piece of paper and taping it to the present. I'm doing my best to at least write neatly as that isn't one of my strengths. I think I'm putting in Christmas Vacation next. I'm not a complete heathen.
I'm an adult. I can make pancakes and drink rye whiskey at noon if I want. This is what you do when you grow up, right?
HOLD UP, WHA!?! I will make a tray of bacon in the oven and just aimlessly snack on it all day. Shit's delicious
I mean I'd go as far to say using other things with bacon ultimately detracts from the pure bliss that is plain bacon. Outside of wrapping steaks with bacon the ultimate goal of adding bacon is to give what ever dish/food item you are adding it to the flavor of bacon, not the other way around.
Man... slept like a log last night for the first time in a long time... didn't wake up until about 20 minutes ago, and now my day will consist of drinking Bailey's and coffee, rum and eggnog, and working my way through a 24-pack Christmas craft sampler, while watching football/UFC/Netflix and napping on the couch in front of a roaring fireplace. The most strenuous thing I have planned is walking to the back door to get more wood for the fire. Today is looking to be a good day.
Anyone tried making mulled wine with a white rather than red? I'd use a red wine but the only stuff I've got is this Pinot Grigio that someone left in the fridge a long time ago. Actually I want do it with some fresh cider from the brewery down the block but they don't fill growlers on Sundays. Oh well.
Never seen or heard of it... but a quick Google shows quite a few options. http://www.marthastewart.com/870107/mulled-white-wine http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2760 ... ulled-wine Never tried it, but it does seem that most I've seen so far go more to the fruitier flavours, and a few with some ginger, etc. Which makes sense... as you're enhancing the natural flavours in the wine. I say give it a shot and report back.
