So one of the guys in my league scored 202 points this week... and lost. That's just gotta hurt deep in the furthest recesses of the sack.
Who the fuck did he have? What the fuck is the scoring? And even more so, who the fuck did his competition have?
Was that standard or ppr scoring? And here I was feeling bad for the top scorers in my league who tied with 151 points each.
First, our league has bonuses for yardage markers for everybody, plus QB TD's are 6 points, and D/ST's start out with 20 points instead of 10 so most of our scores tend to be higher than you see in a standard league. That being said, The guy that lost had Rodgers, Hilton, E. Sanders, Lacy, Bradshaw and the Buffalo D as his big scorers, but he had to go up against Roethlisberger, Brown, Tate, Heath Miller and Chris Ivory plus a couple of other middling scorers. This is the guy that lives and dies by the Steelers as half of his team is their guys, and this week it just happened to pay off for him. Here's the actual breakdown if you want to see exactly how it went down. Warning, big screenshot.
I sent a lot of depth to an opponent in return for Matt Forte yesterday. Knock on wood that it works out.
I swear there's a no-trade collusion agreement in my one league. Not one single trade has occurred at this point. And I've thrown an offer at almost every single other person in the league just to see if someone would bite. Every request so far has either just been ignored until it expired or the couple that have countered have sent back such ridiculous offers that I can't tell if they're delusional or just trying to fuck with me. Because, yeah, Peyton Manning straight up for Antonio Brown is a fair trade, you jerkoff. At this point I've got too much QB power that I need to off-load, but nobody in my league is in enough need for an upgrade to QB that it's beneficial to me to get something out of it.
No good, he was already using Romo as a backup to Foles. It's only a 10 team league, so it's hard to come by anyone that doesn't have at least a passable starter. Of the guys that don't, they also don't have anything worth trading for to make my team discernibly better for the value. For reference here's my current lineup. QB's: P. Manning, Rivers, Flacco RB's: Ellington, Ingram, Jennings, Jeremy Hill WR's: Jeffery, Wallace, Randle, Edelman, Josh Gordon TE's: Gronk, Graham K: Catanzaro D/ST: KC I'd obviously love to leverage the high value of Rivers for an upgrade at WR somewhere, but anyone with a WR worth trading for doesn't need a QB. If Graham keeps healthy, I'm also of thinking about offering him up for some WR help too. Now that Gronk is seemingly back to old form, I can afford to drop one of them.
10 team leagues should have like a 2 person bench max. Otherwise you get that ridiculousness as shown above. No one needs to make a move otherwise.
Our league is terrible at trades. Most of the time the trades languish and never get accepted. Half the time they're looking for a RB1 for a backup tight end or whatever. Other times they'll swap a top-10 asset for some third string guy who performs well out of a backup role for two games.
Honestly, Antonio Brown for Peyton Manning is a reasonable trade that would depend on the two teams' relative roster needs. The #1 receiver for the #2 quarterback is not ridiculous on its face.
In a standard league, I would agree too; however, in our league, the way the scoring is set up, QB's are way more valuable than any other position and everyone knows this. For example, this past week, in a standard scoring league, Ben Roethlisberger got 44 points. In our league, he got 73.78 points. So this obviously skews the trade values of players regardless of their position rank. If I recall correctly, the original trade offer was Rivers and Edelman (this was back before he decided to stop catching every ball thrown his way) for Brown. Either way, I think long term, I should be set up well once Jennings comes back and Gordon is reinstated. I just was looking for something to shore up my only perceived weak spot in the interim.
Maybe, but at the end of the day you don't compare one position's points with another position. FF is all about incremental points at a given position. So a 60 point player might be easily worth a 30 point player if they're both a ~20% point boost on their replacement player. Anyway, I don't know enough about the details to say specifically on this particular trade... your bonuses may benefit certain types of quarterbacks more than others. Just pointing out that positional bonuses mostly elevate all players at that position so that 60 point QB is still likely to not be as scarce as the 30 point receiver. Example: our league gives 6 points per TD and big bonuses on big plays, so QBs get a pretty good boost. In our league, you'd see a 6 point per game drop to go from Manning to Rivers, but a 10 point per game bonus to replace either Wallace or Jeffrey with Brown.
Hillman is available on Waivers. I know he is fighting injury but is he worth picking up and dropping one of my current collection of middling RBs? McCoy, Tate, Morris, Jennings, Ivory, McKinnon, Oliver? Plus Bengals are available as D/ST and see they are currently ranked number one. Do I drop the Seahawks and start streaming? My opponent (who scored 151 points last week) needs to pick up a D/ST and I would like for her not to have the opportunity to select them. If I pick them up I either need to drop the Seahawks or one of those RBs.
Another question for the gallery. For my flex: Ben Tate (versus Tampa Bay) or Denard Robinson (at Cinci). I also have Mike Wallace on my bench.
