Well at least the Bears have a week to work out the glaring defensive issues and let their OL heal up before the season starts next week. Oh, it's week 1? FFFFFUUUUUU I can't wait for the mouth breathing Chicago sports idiots to freak out this week. People are already piling on Cutler. He had 1 bad throw he forced that resulted in an INT. The other he threw to a wide open Bennett who decided to check his twitter feed on the route instead of looking at the ball. Cutler was 34-49 for 350 and 2 TDs and had a QBR over 100 even with the picks, he kept them in that game. Losing two starting OL, Jeffrey, and a hobbled Marshall, in addition to still starting fucking Conte, werea the main reasons. Absolutely inexcusable loss. I honestly was never worried until OT. Just absurd. Insert gif of Conte being run over by a 50 year old Fred Jackson, who the announcers called out as the oldest RB in the league no less than 10 times.
Speaking of mouth-breathing: where else but Florida would a fan be hand-eating Frosted Flakes out of the box?
Vikings looked decent, but the game was closer than than the final score. The offense looked a lot like the post-Favre versions, with lots of AD rushes into a wall of defenders and rinky-dink passing. The Rams helped out a lot by committing 13 penalties. On the positive side, the O-line only gave up one sack against that Rams D-line, and the defense looked unspectacular if competent, which would be a big step up over last season. Hard to really evaluate it since it was going against the Rams 3rd string QB for half the game. Also, had injuries to three key guys on the defense; hope they're minor and don't cost the players any games. Beat the Pats next week in a convincing fashion and I'll start to believe.
Spoken like a true Viking fan. Tough to be a fan at times. I thought this performance was rather dominant and the defense looked markedly better. Amazing what a non-vanilla scheme does. AP looked hesitant and left a lot of yards out there. I'm wondering if he tweaked something on a play to the outside early where a guy hit his knee. I agree some of the passing was rinky-dink, but I also thought we didn't need more than that. Things are looking promising, but as you said we'll get a better test vs. the Pats.
Maybe my trick ear is acting up, but I could have sworn I saw the Ravens making Ray Rice's wife publicly apologize for "her role in that night". Her role? As what, a speed-bag? Stay classy, Baltimore. You're really giving the Cowboys of yesteryear a run for the biggest NFL asshole franchise. Ray Rice should be gang-raped by silverback apes and set on fire.
Sorta, they didn't make her apologize, but the team's official Twitter account sent out the following: So, yeah... classy move on their end considering the video.
AAAAAAAAND THe Ravens just released Ray Rice. They must be lurkers on here. He didn't go easy. They had to drag him right out of the eleva...sorry, stadium.
It wasn't about domestic abuse. The NFL is really worried about seeming soft on illegal hits to the head and concussions. They had to make an example of Rice.
Did anyone watch the Stafford interview after the Lions game? He didn't even remotely answer any of the questions he was asked. It was trolling the reporter, it was hilarious.
Is it just me, or can the Colts just not run block or pass protect? There's a lot of blame on Trent Richardson being a bad RB/draft bust, but generally to lose yardage on carries, it's because there are defenders in the backfield. I saw one play in a pre-season game where he got tackled while being handed the ball. I don't think Andrew Luck gets more than a second to throw the ball, either.
There's some truth to this, but on the other hand running backs not named Trent Richardson averaged on 4.8 ypa over 179 carries last season, versus Richardson's 2.9 ypc over 157 attempts. Donald Brown clocked in at 5.3 ypa over 102 carries yet someone he was the one getting the boot. It makes no sense. Everything about Trent Richardson looks like the makings of a good running back. And instead, he acts like his job is to headbutt interior linemen.
Matt Cassel just went 4/4 for 8 yards ramming it down the throats of the Patriots Defense. Ouch. Fact no one cares about. Worked with Rhett Ellison's sister, she tried to awkwardly hit on me via office chat. This game isn't going to be pretty. Are the Vikings sneaky good?
