Hey, guess who DIDN'T start Wilson this week in fantasy because I didn't like his match-up... Fuck this day in the ear.
Antonio Brown's Run-and-hump of the goal post following the punt return is the most entertaining things I have seen in the NFL this year. Pure awesome. The ref trying to not crack up while saying "using the goal post as a prop" was the capper.
To be fair Jimmy, I'd still take Newton over Wilson. The Rams are dog shit and Jeff Fisher is not long for his position. Getting two back to back 50+ yard plays isn't good offense, that's hot shit defense. Also, Wilson has much better WRs. If they switched WRs, I don't know if Wilson would be as successful.
I would too. While I don't think Newton is an elite QB, he certainly is a good one. Wilson's good too, but I think Parker's point about WRs is well taken. Frankly, there are about 16 teams that would immediately be better for having either Newton or Wilson.
I'm assuming you meant the Vikings, a team that, up until Sunday, had the 3rd best scoring defense in the league. If being the 3rd best defense in the league is considered terrible, I better be worried because the Seahawks took that ranking this week. As for the better receiver group, do you really mean to tell me that Greg Olson, Ted Ginn, Jerricho Cotchery and Devin Funchess are really that much worse than Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Jermaine Kearse and Luke Willson? That seems pretty similar talent wise to me. Also, Wilson's stat line: 241/352, 68.5%, 2997 PYds, 21 TDs/7 Int, 106.2 RAT, 86 Rush ATT, 450 RYd, 5.2 YPC, 1 TD, 3 Fumbles Newton's stat line: 218/373 58.4%, 2797 PYds, 25 TDs/10 Int, 93.2 RAT, 108/476 4.4 YPC, 7 TD, 3 Fumbles Rose colored glasses, obviously, but I'll take the efficient cold blooded robot QB over the rhinoceros QB.
You forgot to add on that Cam Newton is a way better dancer at the end of that statline. By definition, it increases everything before it by 5.73%.
As a vikings fan, this feels inevitable every year since like, 2003. As a Vikings fan, I won't believe they've won a game until the day after, just in case a late ruling comes in. On the other hand, the last game of the year is against the Packers and I kinda feel like the playoff seeding is going to come down to that, one way or the other. Unless, that is, the Vikes keep playing like they did against Seattle.
They've already rulled Joseph, Barr, and Smith out for Thursday's game. So likely 8-5. I have zero faith they'll be able to go into Green Bay and win, so that's at least 6 losses. So they'll have to beat both New York and Chicago to assure themselves a wildcard spot, and neither of those games are givens. Even if they do get in, so what? They're one-and-done for sure. The thing that's the most demoralizing is watching the utter incompetence of the passing game. Teddy's regressing, the line can't block at all, and the receiving corp is nothing special. More and more it looks like Teddy and Peterson can't play together because AP needs to run out of a traditional set to be effective while Teddy's best from the shotgun - especially with this line. As painful as it is to say it, one of them's got to go, and there's no future with Peterson. But it doesn't matter either way unless they can vastly improve the line in the off-season.
I think the Vikings showed they can be a good team. If the line blocks at all Teddy can be a solid QB. As much as I love watching AP, I think you're right. He's such a massive liability in pass protection and can't catch on the run he becomes extremely one dimensional. Doesn't help Teddy at all. Pretty happy with how the defense played given they were down starters. I doubt many teams want to play us come playoff time. A completely healthy Vikings team will give anyone a run. The Seahawks game had a confluence of events that led to an utter shitstorm, but we've shown we are better than that one loss.
You certainly have a lot more faith in the Vikings than I do. I don't think any team in the playoffs are going to be afraid of the Vikings since their situation more or less forces them to play a grind-the-clock, power-running game. Every team knows that to beat the Vikings you just need to stop AP. I mean it's easier said than done but still puts the Vikings at a distinct weakness since it's the only style of game they can be successful at. I'd feel most confident with them going up against the NFC East winner and least confident going against Seattle - I think the Seahawks in particular are a bad matchup for them. I'll need to some some convincing victories to close out the year in order to feel confident of their chances in the playoffs.
Panthers are up 28-0. How about going to a more competitive game this week? Like maybe the fucking Seahawks game? Once again....fucking FOX.
Wilson threw 5 TD's. That's all you really need to know about that game. God damn they are coming on hard at the end. It should make many uncomfortable around the league. And the Packers with a win thanks to the defense and a run game for a change. Rodgers didn't have to hit the turf over and over again. What a nice change.
