I spent this morning roasting my own coffee. Anyone that is into coffee should give it a try. Doesn't get any fresher than this.

How long did it take you to do all of that? Just curious.

It took an hour and twenty to do 1 pound of coffee. I could have did it a lot faster, but the popcorn popper I use is shitty as fuck.

That's not bad. For some strange reason, I figured it would take a lot longer. That's pretty cool that you do that yourself.

I was going to say, flavor profile is much different with red pepper flakes than jalapenos. The application in certain italian based dishes is essential because of this outside of just adding pure heat. Im planning on pickling my scotch bonnet peppers here shortly. I want to make a forey into hot sauces.

In other news I have a super man crush on Jason Mamoa:

You know how people say Christmas seems to come earlier every year? It's true.

For example: Saturday the police visited my roommate. The neighbors phoned in a complaint about his Christmas Vacation inspired holiday lighting. So, of course he's now putting up more lights.

At least that is delaying his decorating of the inside of the house. There's only one Christmas tree up so far.

Sorry I'm late in seeing this- the boat was a 15' Boston Whaler which was originally owned by very wealthy client/family friend. It had a tree fall on it during Katrina while it was sitting on its trailer in his yard, and he gave it to me as he didn't feel like messing with the necessary cleaning/repairing (must be nice, huh?).

So I had the boat for a few years and it was great. But then I started a family and used the boat less-&-less for various reasons (15' boats don't take wake very well; the short gunnels scared my wife to death thinking that the kids would fall overboard; it was easier to just load the family into my dad's 24' center console for weekends down the river than to worry about keeping & maintaining my own boat; etc.), so more-often-than-not I'd end up lending it to my younger brother for his use.

THEN I ended up trading in my truck ~2-3 years ago to get a family vehicle (we really needed one, and I couldn't justify the ~$500/month note on a truck that I mainly used for commuting to work), which rendered me unable to even tow the boat around myself. I pretty-much just ended up giving the boat to my brother at that point.

Its still titled in my name and is still in the family, but the free boat has been paid-forward for all intents and purposes.

They are publicly posting mugshots of arrested rioters in Portland. And yes, they look EXACTLY how you picture whiney adult crybabies.

    Woke as FUCK, bro.

I ended up growing a filthy amount of hot stuff in my garden this year... jalapenos, serranos, cayennes, Thai chiles, and habaneros. I don't eat a lot of really spicy foods but my neighbors gave me their leftover starters so I figured I'd grow them and just give away the produce. A lot of it ended up going to a co-worker who dried them out and made a simple and very strong hot sauce out of the whole ground chiles, seeds and all, mixed up in oil. A little goes a long ways- the flavor is great and even if you add more than intended the heat builds up slowly so you aren't just punished after every bite.

I like to keep a little bottle of vinegar with some Thai chiles thrown in for bright spice flavor and will be making the dried chile oil sauce in the future now too.

Surgery on the ankle in the AM. Which of Game of Thrones, Mad Med, or The Wire should I start while I'm laid up?

The Wire. The combination of Mcnulty, Stringer, Avon, Omar and my favourite: Cutty. Even though he ain't in The Game no mo.

    Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Warning: season two is a SLOW one that feels like a different show. Same with season four. But it's riches run very deep. It cares very much about every. Single. Character.

Also: I don't know how many Hemmsworth brothers there are, but do they all look like their parents gave them HGH at an early age?

Why does Monday Night Football start so late? I wish I lived in a time zone where it came one during happy hour.

Completely unrelated: Any of the ladies on this board ever use sticks to tie up their hair, instead of elastics or scrunchies (I doubt anyone even owns one of THOSE anymore)? My hair is longer than it's ever been - past my shoulder blades and getting on towards the top of my waist. I recently switched jobs and the cubby hole full of hair elastics got lost in the shuffle, so I started using pens to keep my hair back at work. Then I got annoyed at how many pens I was going though, and switched to a longer chopstick style thing that I bought at the store. Holy CRAP does it hold well. Never in 20+ years of tying back my hair has anything kept its shape and grip like a chopstick twist. For lack of a better word. No more having pieces slip out of the tie or the elastic sliding down and making the ponytail loose. It actually works so well that I had to learn to tie it looser so it didn't give me a headache.

Related: I vote Mad Men. You're going to be in and out of consciousness and sleeping, and it's the easiest to follow. Although the least enjoyable of the three. You REALLY have to pay attention in the Wire, because the plot moves fast and the dialogue takes a sharp ear. You also really have to pay attention in GoT because 1. Everyone dies and 2. They all have weird names you can never remember.

So, yeah. Mad Men. Good luck with the surgery.

This is a provider at the clinic I go to. She's as stunning in person as she is in this photo.
